- Chaos Turret rushes, or just semi-standard openers + Turret pushes are thing; if you keep your Heretic well protected, forced labor can help you set up a very tough anchor for the rest of your forces. - Chaos Heavy Bolter-based weapons (CSM, Turrets, LP2s, Predators), deal more damange than their loyalist's counterparts - Berzerkers and Possessed are most efficient when operating as individual kill teams, because attaching Heroes will reduce their enhanced movement speed - Berzerkers are a costly T2 investment, best used against most T1 infantry options, and some squishy T2 ones, but it's often better to invest in either Machine Pit, or tech to T3 and skip them entirely - Possessed can rip most Ork building armor like wet paper. They're *very* good for runbys and sniping key enemy structures (Eldar Soul Shrine, Tau Path to Enlightment, etc.), even if you loose them in the process. - When facing a tough melee infantry, that's not immune to morale (i.e. Howling Bashees, Seer Council, Ork Nobz, etc.), switch your Possessed attack to range, and break the enemy morale in seconds, before engaging - Obliterators' ranged attacks alternate between Assault Cannons, Twin Plasmas, and Las Cannons, when their stationary, but only the Assault Cannon is used for firing on the move. - Obliterators' high hp and armor heavy-high, means they will eventually win in melee vs weedy infantry, who try to tie them up, but it's best to have Sorcerer nearby, to cast Chains of Torment and prevent that from happening - Deepstrike units (Horrors and Obliterators) can embark on their respective production facilites even after you deploy them, as if they were using transports. You can use this to strategically redeploy them away from your base and counter-harass - Chaos T3 is similar(ish) to Tau - you can either drop a quick Daemon Pit and rush Obliterators + Possessed, and then reasearch Daemon Prince for a fast, all or nothing type of start, or spend more time and resources for CSM Infiltration, Plasma Guns, and all remaining Armoury stuff, upgrade Predator Lascannons, while gradually adding CSM, Daemon Pit units, and the Bloodthirster - Bloodthirster can spawn from an infiltrated Aspiriring Champion (Cultist or CSM squad leader), so you can potentially sneak him into enemy main, kill his HQ, or other high priority target and still have option to fly away
Players overestimate Chaos Lord melee and underestimate his shooting. Chaos Lord 2-3 shots Tier 1 infantry even before he gets Plasma Pistol. When attacking buildings put him in melee, but against infantry you'll have to set him to shooting sometimes. Players know that Chaos Lord slows enemies with his melee weapon so they will kite him.
Thank you very much for this! New to Dawn of War here and this is very helpful as i always struggled with “build orders” and the opening bits in rts games in general
Chaos ist my favourite race! So many options and you didn’t even show all of them for example Raptors Opening or Khorne Verzerker rush with sorcerer and chains ⛓️👍
alixUK has a video on his channel about getting the camera zoom mod for Soulstorm, otherwise it has no limiting effects such as in multiplayer whatsoever :)
I normally build my generators in my base - do you think it's better to build them wherever your builder happens to be? I reckon it leaves them more exposed, but at the same time spreads them out so they can't all be destroyed at once.
Sometimes it's just quicker and efficient to build your generators wherever your builder is but if you are going to do it out of your base, at least do it next to a listening post. This way you'll have some extra defense should it get attacked.
It's best to do this in late T3-T4 games where everyone has their best units about, typically Heavy Infantry units. Plasma Guns will do more for you than grenades at this point and are deadly when the squad is infiltrated. You can also run to the enemy base and pick off their builders with this strategy which can be very annoying.
Hi, I started playing Dawn of War about 2 months ago, I really enjoyed playing Chaos but I'm having trouble containing initial attacks (rushes), any tips?
Dealing with rushes in general involves a few things. Firstly, it is a good idea to upgrade one of your LP's to an LP2; this way if you get rushed you can fall back to an LP2, its long range will offer protection to your squads. If the rushing army is bigger than your own, you need to keep making squads and reinforcing them until you can push them back. Don't suicide your units though. If they keep dying, always retreat back to an LP2 or turret until you can gather your strength back.
Been really enjoying these guides! Thank you!!! Quick question.. how do you que multiple spots for your scouts/cultists ect to capture? Also how do you multi que buildings?? Every time I drop my and goto que a generator, my builder switches to the new building..

I’m so used to seeing you on wC3 content. Good to see you here 👍
Good comment 👍
Always good to see that there are still people making guides for this game. Extremely helpful for a newer player like me.
Welcome aboard!

Make it look easy dude. Good guide, appreciate the time spent.

Fantastic guide. Thank you. How do you get extended camera on vanilla version of the game? Does doing so limit your multiplayer options?

Thanks for the guide. Is there any reason to ever equip a unit of cultists or CSM squads with plasma guns?

Plasma Guns will do more for you than grenades at this point and are deadly when the squad is infiltrated. Thanks! How do you queue up commands while the units are still being built? Such as capturing a SP for instance
You can set the rally point "on" a SP; when the unit is built it will go and cap that point automatically
