Your video is outstanding. I reside in an apartment complex and knew more security was required due to some folks packages being stolen. You went through EVERTHING for the BLINK camera in a very detailed manner. That mattered. Thanks for sharing your skills and overview with us. Thank You so much for posting this video. I purchased the doorbell with the sync during prime day 2022. The instructions in the box was not this detailed. I uninstalled everything I did a step by step with you.

Your video is Excellent - I got my Doorbell with Sync Module this morning, got everything ready for install, read their directions, watched your video and everything was installed and running perfectly in about 20 minutes as I had the transformer power and mechanical doorbell already installed. The BLINK doorbell is really outstanding. Solid quality, features, performance and value. Your video made this already great product a breeze to install. The biggest point for me was to install the Sync Module first by adding "Accessory" first, then the doorbell. Many thanks!
You're very welcome mobaguy! I'm glad the video helped. So far my unit is still going strong. Just remember that after the free blink trial is over, if you do not renew it, the live view will not record it you access it. I made another video about it, which explains it better. Enjoy your new camera 🙂
@@DemCrumblies You're most welcome and thanks for advising on how you doorbell has performed so far. I'll try to find the link to your video on the Trial ending. All the Best!
@@mslady1230Hi MsLady. I am indeed still using and very much appreciating the Blink Doorbell. It is an excellent device that has been stable, useful and reliable in it's operation. In fact, I've since invested in other Blink devices and have found them all to be excellent as well. I highly recommend the Blink Doorbell and Wireless Cameras. I expect I'll be purchasing some of the solar powered cameras in the future as well. Thanks for asking and your video really was a great help.
Thank you so much for the in depth video. From instructions step by step with each pieces, to setting up the app and mounting/testing it as well and going through the settings to better understand the adjusting part! 🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So glad to hear the video was helpful : ) Thank you for watching! I also made a video about whether the monthly cloud plan is needed or not if you are debating continuing with it or without it. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions! @mtresilient3566
Thanks. Great video !Just bought one with Sync module 2. I am going to mount it outside the house, where I do still have WIFI. Question: So where do I actually hear the sound of the RING inside the House?? Can it be with ALEXA ECHO?... even if ALEXA is OFF/Standing by will it ring for me?
Hey @antonioamaro736, so unfortunately Blink didn't think to include a chime unit with this doorbell, so they issued a work-around where you can use their Blink Mini to act as a very expensive chime: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html I don't have any Alexa devices, but here are the instructions to set it up from the Blink support site: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/blink-alexa/alexa-doorbell-press-notifications Good luck : )
October 2024 I just purchased the BLINK doorbell camera with the synch module 2 and the mini indoor camera , my questions are: 1. How do we angle the doorbell camera it to see the porch when we receive packages? It seems to be looking higher. 2. How do I install/synch the mini inside camera to the system? Thanks Your video is very helpful since there is not much instruction coming with
1) Unfortunately, it doesn't let us angle it down to see packages. If you want to see packages, it's better to buy another brand of video doorbell that has a very wide field of view to show packages at the same time as people. 2) You can check this link to see how to use the Blink Mini as a chime unit: ua-cam.com/video/5GGK8Y0zUZs/v-deo.html and if you have the Blink Mini 2, check this video instead: ua-cam.com/video/5GGK8Y0zUZs/v-deo.html
Hey Paul, glad you found the video helpful. There are some features that become unavailable if you do not have a Cloud subscription plan. I made a video about that here if you want to be fully aware of what you'll lose with just local storage alone so you can decide what is best for you: ua-cam.com/video/akSBK5Girts/v-deo.html
I'm glad the video was helpful Mayra! That's great, you'll have good coverage with 3 cameras. Just remember to add the Sync Module 2 to the Blink App first, then add the cameras after to be on the safe side. Let me know if you run into and issues and thanks for watching 😀
Nice introduction buddy , I have one of these but got the mod yes so can't watch live or two way talk but will definitely be Purchasing one in the near future. Thank you , take care and God bless to you and your family 👌
Hey Lee, yea with the Sync Module you can pull up live view any time you want, but not for when someone rings the bell. With the Cloud Plan, you can pull up live view when someone rings the bell, but you can't pull it up any other time. Blink wants us to get both the Sync Module 2 and the Cloud Plan for maximum functionality. I wish we could do it all with just the Sync Module 2 though. I'm glad the video was helpful and thanks for watching! Take care too 🙂
Hey Fanny, for maximum functionality, the subscription is recommended, but please watch my video where I explain the benefits of getting the subscription or just using the local storage option here ua-cam.com/video/akSBK5Girts/v-deo.html
It's fairly loud when on the same floor. Blink also allows for the Blink Mini camera to be used as a chime now: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html An expensive chime of course.
I REALLY like your phone. I love shiny silver phones. I don't think we have that one in the UK. What's the exact make? also can you confirm this doorbell works with an android phone?
Yep it will work with Android phones. That phone is the Sony Xperia XZ Premium (release year 2017). To date, I still think it's the most beautiful looking phone I've owned because it has a full mirror finish glass back.
I plan to install this to monitor my porch and door while I am staying with family in Florida for several days. I'm thinking that the sync module would not benefit me much since I'll not have access to the thumb drive storage. In this case cloud subscription seems best. Correct? Very good job. Well made, clear instructional video.
Hi Colin, you're right, the cloud plan will be most beneficial to you if you just need a temporary solution. If it will be your first blink camera, then you will have a free trial. The Sync Module 2 with a USB drive attached will still allow you to access the video files remotely though if you will use the camera long-term. Even though the video files are saved to a USB drive, when you open the Blink app to view recordings, the app will access the files off of the USB drive automatically without you needing to be physically present to interact with the USB drive. If you do not want to pay for a cloud plan long-term and will keep the camera on the porch for the foreseeable future, then buying the Sync Module 2 and plugging in a USB drive is still a good idea BUT, you will not be able to record any live view video. For example, if someone rings your doorbell and you answer them on the app by pulling up a video to see them, the Sync Module 2 cannot record that video, only the cloud plan will record the video. In every other circumstance, the Sync Module 2 will record video. Some users who only have the Sync Module 2 will start the native screen recording function on their phone, then they pull up the live view video so that the phone still records. It isn't ideal, but it is a work-around. If you do not want that headache, then the cloud plan is the way to go. I made a video here about the cloud plan vs using the Sync Module 2 if you are interested here: ua-cam.com/video/akSBK5Girts/v-deo.html Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for choosing to watch my video 🙂
Hey The Shatonian, when I made this video, there was no compatible chime option for this system unless you used an Alexa or Echo device. However, Blink has now added the functionality for a Blink mini camera to act as a chime. You can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html (You'll have to buy an additional Blink device to have a Chime)
Unfortunately, the chime comes from the doorbell only when it is bought as is. Blink recently allowed users to use their Blink Mini Indoor camera as a Chime unit as a secondary function. You can learn more here about it: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html If you didn't buy this doorbell yet, I highly recommended going with another brand that includes a plug-in chime unit that can be plugged into any wall outlet in your home.
You're welcome. If you need any recommendations, let me know because I've reviewed a few video doorbells that are way more feature packed than the Blink version.@@primeartist112
Hey James, I had received the adhesive from another product I bought. I think almost any kind of strong adhesive strip should work fine since if you use enough of it since the Blink unit is not too heavy. You can also use a door frame mount like this, which is far more reliable if that is a concern: amzn.to/3NPF10L (Affiliate Link)
@@DemCrumblies Thanks, I have a SwitchBot lock on the door and I had quite a time adjusting it to operate smoothly. I hesitate to use something that fits on the door in that manner. I’m looking at adhesive back mounts. Thanks again.
@@Grandadtech Got it. Yea, I just had left over adhesives from another product that worked perfectly. I guess just hunt around on Amazon for the one with the highest score and if they have any user photos where it handled a decent weight. Good luck James!
The problem I have with the blink ecosystem is the batteries, in the uk they are very expensive and no alternatives to the brand supplied with the device. I have three blink cameras that I bought to catch some kids that were throwing eggs at our house, they worked brilliantly, but cost me a small fortune in batteries. I had a Ring doorbell that after four years the lense became foggy but it did the deterrent job, but when they increased increased the subscription to £34 ($42 approx) a year I considered the blink, but also being an Amazon company they suddenly wanted a subscription and Amy cameras would then be involved in a subscription, so I went with the eufy 1080p cost £74 no subscription required. The blink doorbell was released in uk this week at £45,but annual plan is £24,99 for 1 camera, but as I already have 3 cameras that would make it £80 a year WOW! I’ll keep the blink cameras for now and stick with my eufy doorbell, but will likely add more eufy cameras as the blink cams die.
Hey Tiny Small Fry's Kitchen, thanks for sharing your experience. With the Eufy system, does it include cloud or off-site backups, or do you also have to pay for that feature like with the Blink system? I actually just switched my front doorbell camera to the XTU J7 Plus because I find that I can pull up the camera feed quicker. It also has a built-in rechargeable battery. I just run a USB charging cable from the doorbell into my house and connect the other end to a power bank. The charge doesn't last anywhere as long as on the Blink system, but I live with it because I like being able to pull up my live feed quickly. I'm gonna move my Blink doorbell to my backyard just for motion detection.
@@tinysmallfryskitchen8610 Ah ok. Yea looks like most of these services require payment for cloud services. I wish they would let us upload the things like One Drive or Google Drive if we already use those though.
Dem Crumbliee, how u doing? I have a question about the Blink Modul, can I add a second Blink doorbell to the module? Thanks for the video. Have a nice day.
Hey William, according to Blink's official site, you can add up to 10 Blink devices to one Sync Module 2. I am not sure about the original Sync Module, but for the Sync Module 2, you can add up to 10 devices. You can find more information here if you like: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/sync-module-2/sync-module-2-faqs
Hey @freddyjoseph, can you check to ensure that the Blink App has access to use your phone's microphone? If you're on Android, you can long press the Blink app icon, then press the "I: icon on the top right then tap on Permissions and ensure you have Camera and Microphone access set to allowed. Not sure how to check this on iPhones though. Let me know how it goes.
I bought the blink doorbell with the sync module and bought separately and inserted a usb storage because I understood that I could store motion detection etc on the sync unit. Is that not the case? I can't find or figure out on the blink app where to see the storage. It was working but now it's not. 😢
Hi Skippy, yes, if you insert a USB drive into the Sync Module 2, it will capture or record clips that you can review later. If you used to see the storage or clips and now you cannot see it, it could be that the USB Drive is defective, needs to be formatted again in the Blink app, or you need to delete the Sync Module 2 and camera from the app, then add the Sync Module 2 again first, then the camera after. I had this issue before where clips stopped recording before and I had to delete every device from the Blink app and add them back in that order. Let me know how it goes.
When you arm the system to enable the video doorbell your infact making all cameras on that network active - inside and out, thus frequently setting off a notification . So is it better to have the video doorbell on its own network to prevent unnecessary alerts?
Hey Richard, sorry for the late response. On my system, I have the Blink doorbell and the Mini camera. I set the Mini camera to disable motion detection since I'm not too concerned with motion inside the house currently. Can you describe the issue you are having in more detail? Before you added the Blink doorbell, how were the rest of your cameras setup in terms of motion detection and issuing alerts?
How has the adhesive held up? I am allergic to drilling and would likely go the same route. Just worried if the adhesive will last. Especially with having the remove the doorbell 1-2x per year to replace the batteries.
Hey Mike, the adhesive held up really well. In fact, it held up so well that I had a hard time removing the Blink camera when I tested another video doorbell. My adhesive came with another product if I remember correctly, so I don't have a brand I can recommend. I think it really helped that I applied it during a warmer month though. If I was to apply adhesive now with cold Winter temperatures outside, the adhesion may not be the best. If it's cold where you are, you might want to warm up the adhesive slightly with a hair dryer, and possibly also warm up the area it will be applied for best results.
Hey Estrellita, so it depends. Here is the info from Amazon's Blink site: Live View: When you receive a Blink Video Doorbell notification, tapping it opens a Live View session with two-way talk, even when you do not have a subscription or USB storage. Live Views can only be saved to the cloud with an active Blink Subscription Plan or trial that is included in your purchase. So it will record video clips of motion regularly when you're not viewing any live view on the App. However, if you open live view and talk to the person who rang the doorbell, that video and audio call will not be recorded unless you have a monthly blink cloud plan. Let me know if that makes sense, or if you have more questions.
My unit came with the sync module already. You can use the doorbell without the sync module, but if you use the sync module, the battery life lasts longer on the camera, and you can store video files to a USB drive that is connected to the Sync module instead of having to pay for a monthly cloud plan.
It may look different since Blink likely updated the app since the 2 years ago when I released the video. To find the correct app, there should be a QR code in the box or manual to download the correct app. Please ensure you've downloaded the right app for safety.
Hey Ppp, you can do live view if you have either the Sync Module 2 or the Sync Module 2 and a monthly Cloud plan. If you just have the monthly Cloud plan without the Sync Module 2, then it allows show live view when someone rings the doorbell. If Ring lets you pull up live view any time, that already sounds better because with Blink, you must have the Sync Module 2 also to pull up live view whenever you want.
Unfortunately Blink didn't have enough foresight to know that people want actual chime units, so while there isn't a dedicated chime unit, you can buy a Blink Mini or Blink Mini 2 camera and set it up to function as a chime, which I cover here: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html or ua-cam.com/video/5GGK8Y0zUZs/v-deo.html If you didn't buy this video doorbell yet and you're open to other options that don't have monthly fees and have a dedicated chime unit, let me know and I can recommend alternatives.

Yes, unfortunately this video doorbell only lets you connect for chime functionality, not for power. I can recommend some much better video doorbells that let you power them with the doorbell wires and do not use batteries if you like, just let me know.
hi I have this and the module 2 on the way does having the module 2 cancel the module 1 and can the bell be hardwired for power thanks liked and subscribed.
Hey Dave, I never owned the module 1, but if you're getting the module 2, then it'll be best to pair all compatible cameras with the Sync module 2 for best performance. According to the Blink forms, hard wiring is only for chime functionality, it doesn't supply power unfortunately. Thanks for subscribing and watching 🙂
Hi Samuel, yes, the Sync Module 2 needs to be powered on all the time. It also needs the USB drive plugged into it all the time while it is plugged into the wall.
Great video! Does the sync module come with a USB storage? I have cloud storage because I have the blink mini home indoor camera set up already. I am trying to access the live video version of the doorbell as an (outdoor) security cam as well. Thank you very much!
Hey Christopher, the Sync Module doesn't come with a USB Flash drive, but they are pretty inexpensive. You can probably one from 2 GB to 256 GB and it will work. If you see a USB 2.0 version, just get that because they are cheaper than USB 3.0 and the Sync Module 2 can only read up to USB 2.0 speeds anyways. You can find lots of options for under $10 to $20 USD. If you need any recommendations let me know, but you may even have USB drives lying around the house.
@@DemCrumblies Okay so in order for me to use the blank doorbell as a camera that I can check on anytime kind of just like my indoor blink camera, Id need to buy the module and storage drive?
@@LukasDozer Hey Christopher, that's correct. Remember to use a storage drive that is between 1 GB to 256 GB. It can be USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 speeds, but the Sync Module cannot use the USB 3.0 speed, so it usually works out cheaper to get the USB 2.0 models.
Yes it rings at the same time that the outdoor ringer rings. Keep in mind that this system doesn't come with an indoor chime or speaker though, you either have to wire this system to your existing chime or buy the Blink Mini Camera and set it a chime ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html
Hey William, the issue is likely due to the Blink App not having permissions to send notifications on your phone. To fix this on an Android phone, you have to go into Settings -> Notifications -> All Apps, then ensure that the Blink App is allowed to send Notifications. You can also go into Setttings -> Apps, then find the Blink App, tap on it, then tap on Notifications and set it to "Allowed". I'm not sure how to do this on an iPhone / iOS, but it the steps should be pretty similar. Let me know how it goes.
Hey Chris, yep, you can add up to 10 blink devices to the Sync Module 2. Here is more information: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/sync-module-2/sync-module-2-faqs
Hello- I believe I have everything set as you suggested. However, the clips are not appearing on the Sync Module. Do you know why? How do I correct this? Thanks for your help.
Hi Donna, there could be a few reasons why. Do you have a Cloud plan active right now, or has it expired already? 1) When you go into the Blink App and tap on the Sync module, then tap on Local Storage, does it show that the Sync Module is connected with a USB drive? There should be a green USB with a checkmark to show it's connected. It should also show how much capacity is used up like 1%, 5%, etc. If you don't see the green checkmark, you may have to unplug the USB drive and plug it back in, then format it. Blink also recommends to always add the Sync module first, then add the cameras second. Let me know how it goes.
@@DemCrumblies thank you for your quick response. Yes Cloud plan is expired, There is a green USB with checkmark. Capacity is 1%. It is a 256. I unplugged and reinstalled. Still no clips saved🤷♀️
@@donnasomogyi7163 Hey Donna, yea that is strange because you are within the recognized range for USB drives, which is between 1 and 256 GB. @@DemCrumblies Hey Adrian, Thank you for the info. I ended up doing all the suggested troubleshooting with no success. The screen is white and in black letters The USB storage device has no clips We have set off motion detection many times but no clips 🤷♀️ Any suggestions?
@@donnasomogyi7163 Hey Donna, if you never had the USB local recordings working because the Cloud backup was running before, maybe you can try to switch the USB drive to another drive to see if there is some issue with the current USB drive. The replacement drive has to be between 1GB to 256 GB. Once you plug in the replacement USB drive, the app should prompt you to format it before it can record clips to it. If after doing all of that, it still doesn't record, I would consider resetting the entire system by pressing the reset button on both the Sync Module 2 and Video Doorbell and adding it back for the first time. When you add the devices back to the app, you have to add the Sync Module 2 first, add in the USB Drive and format it, then add the Video Doorbell last. If all of that doesn't work, I would contact Amazon directly because perhaps there is an issue with the Sync module. Let me know how it goes.
I think it depends on where your camera is placed. I vary my sensitivity from 1 to 3 usually. Right now it's set to 1 because my camera faces a fairly busy street where cars are coming and going all the time, so I was having too many alert notifications. Right now, it's set to "1" and whenever I get a delivery, it alerts me, which is what I mostly want to use it for.

@@blackflower8241 The backplate is a huge pain to insert properly. You have to apply lots of downward pressure while you slide it into place. You will hear a soft click when it goes in.
Hey @Michijere77 this is a tricky one. Blink always recommends that you add the Sync Module 2 first, then you add the cameras after. Since you already have the cameras, you could try to add the Sync Module 2 now and if it doesn't work, then you'd have to delete the cameras from the Blink app and readd them using the QR code located at the rear or underside of them, which can be annoying if they're mounted somewhere high.
Unfortunately, the Sync Module also does not play a chime sound. You can buy the Blink Mini camera and use it as a chime, check out the video I did here about it: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html
OK .. just to verify .. when you set up both the Module and the Doorbell devices, your phone needs to be connected to your router's 2.4ghz wifi band. Correct?? I also interpret that to mean that my phone will NEED to be connected to my router's 2.4ghz wifi band when accessing live feeds, recordings, etc after the initial set up of the devices. Can you confirm?
Hey Phil, yep, when you initially setup the Sync Module 2 and the doorbell, you will need to connect to the 2.4 Ghz WiFi band through the Blink App. However, after the initial setup, you can still access live view, recordings, etc. from any WiFi network or mobile device anywhere in the world. The initial setup is just to pass on the home WiFi details to the Sync Module 2 and the doorbell camera. After that, you can monitor the system from anywhere and any connection.
Hey Dem .. thanks for the quick response. OK. I have both 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz in the house. I use the 5.0Ghz for all my wifi devices, phone included. So, just to verify .. when setting up the Blink devices, I can keep the phone on the 5.0Ghz band but choose the 2.4Ghz band when prompted for their wifi setup in the Blink app. And, once done and the devices are connected without issues, there is no need to flip my phone to the 2.4Ghz band to access live feeds, recordings. Correct?
Unfortunately not, but Blink did recently update the Mini Indoor Camera to function as a camera and Chime to ring when someone uses the video doorbell. I made a video about it here:if you want to see how it works: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html
You can use 3M tape like this: geni.us/E4oF1k (Affiliate Link) and yep, it's quite strong, but it's best to apply it on a warm day in the Spring or Summer for best adhesion.
It shows the previous screen capture when you open the app. I'm not sure why it didn't show it in the video, but when you open the app, what you see on screen is a static image of the last time you clicked to get a manual image feed. I think it is this way to prolong the battery life.
Hey Fernando, if you have a Cloud Plan, you will have full functionality of the video doorbell. If you don't use a Cloud plan or a Sync Module 2, it will still work, but have way way less functions.
Hey Krissy, as long as your Blink camera says it is compatible with the Sync Module 2, it should be easy to add it. Sometimes though you may need to delete the cameras first, add the Sync module, then readd the cameras again. You're welcome. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Don't forget that you'll need to buy a USB drive for storage if you don't have a spare one at home already.
Hey Miranda, I can confirm that the sync module does not chime. You can set an Alexa enabled device to chime though: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/blink-alexa/alexa-doorbell-press-notifications If you don't own an Alexa enabled device, you can actually use a Blink Mini as a chime (a slightly expensive chime at that): ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html
Hey Charlie, you can check out this link from Blink about electrical doorbell installation. Keep in mind that the wiring it does not supply electricity, only chime functionality. support.blinkforhome.com/blink-video-doorbell-information/blink-video-doorbell-wired-installation
Hey Biker1!, there is no bell in the house with this unit that you can setup. However, there is an option to wire it to an existing chime, which is only for audio purposes, and does not supply power to the camera. The sound comes from the camera unit. If that isn't loud enough, you can also receive notifications on your phone or an Amazon device like the Echo that supports Alexa.

Hi Tevin, yes, buying the sync module allows you to access the live view any time you like, but you will not be able to save any live views without a Blink monthly plan. @@tevinzappyj Thank you very much for the subcribe Tevin 🙂 Btw, just remember to use a USB drive between 1 GB to 256 GB. The recorded files are pretty small so even a 32 or 64 GB drive will likely last a long time. Reach out if have any issues after you get your Sync module 2. Good luck!
Hey Abraham, when someone rings the doorbell, do you have an alert or notification pop up on your phone automatically? Also, are you using the video doorbell with the Sync Module 2 or with a Cloud Subscription plan?
My blink won’t connect to the sync part of it, so I had to set my doorbell up without it and now I’m having a hard time connecting it. I can’t watch from my doorbell live.
Hey Nashianna, without a Cloud Plan or the Sync Module 2, you won't be able to watch live view unfortunately. Blink recommends always setting up the Sync Module 2 first, then adding the video doorbell after. When you tried to setup the Sync Module 2, did you connect to your WiFi network that has 2.4 Ghz? If you're not sure, that could be part of the problem. The Blink system can only work with 2.4 Ghz WiFi networks, but most modems or routers give either 2.4 Ghz or 5.0 Ghz under the same WiFi name, so you can never be sure which one you are getting. It's a good idea to log into your modem or router and split the WiFi to give out both 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz. Once you do that, you can try to connect the Sync Module 2 again after you connect to the 2.4 Ghz band. There's full steps and information on the Blink site here: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/add-on-sync-modules/adding-a-sync-module Let me know how it goes.
Hey Ms. Hunni, that is correct, however you wont be able view live view video and wave it at the same time with the Sync Module 2. So for example, if you get an alert on your phone saying someone is at your front door, and you click the alert to see who it is, the system stops recording video, unfortunately. Some people start screen recording first, then they tap the alert after so qt least you can record your phone screen since Blink won't record the live view video.
Hi Beverlythorpe6860, yes, I had received the adhesive from another product I bought. I think almost any kind of strong adhesive strip should work fine since the unit is not too heavy. You can also use a door frame mount like this, which is far more reliable if that is a concern: amzn.to/3NPF10L (Affiliate Link)
@@DemCrumblies Thx for your response. I decided to get a Blink Doorbell Mount which includes an adhesive backing. Caught a great deal since it's Amazon Prime Day.
Yes, this can only connect to a 2.4 Ghz WiFi SSID. Even though your internet is 5G at home, your modem or router is capable to splitting the WiFi connection into both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 Ghz bands, so that you can connect to the 2.4 Ghz WiFi band. Your internet company can help you to set it up to serve two different WiFi SSIDs if you're unsure how to do it.
Hi TankeTTV, are you on Android or iOS? I think the first time you try to use the microphone, it usually asks you to grant the app permission to access your phone's microphone. I don't know how to check on iOS, but on Android, if you long press the Blink App icon, tap on the "i" icon and go into the details, you can see which permissions the App has. Can you check and see if the Blink App has access to your phone's microphone to rule that out as an issue first?
@@DemCrumblies i’m on IOS and i have others blink cameras and i use the microphone, but with the doorbell it doesn’t let me. (thx for the quick response btw)
@@tankettv1714 Hey Tanke, that's weird. You shouldn't need the Sync Module because Amazon would prefer for you to pay monthly for their Cloud plan. which gives you full functionality. When you go into the Settings on the Doorbell, is the audio section enabled like in my photo? drive.google.com/file/d/1rsJRUYO-5juB5AhU1eIL-eK_pM4YYzoi/view?usp=share_link If audio is already enabled, only other thing I can think is to delete the doorbell and add it back, but no guarantee that it would help, unfortunately.
@@Sully531_ From what I saw online, yes you will need the Sync module 2 to access live view any time you want, and not only when someone rings the bell. Also, with a Sync module 2, while you can view live video for limited amounts of time, any time you are accessing the live view, the recording cannot be saved unless you have a Blink Subscription plan. It's too bad the hardware is so weak that it grant this functionality without a Sync Module 2 and Blink subscription.
Hi Pam, the only workaround I am aware of is to get an Alexa device and have it announce the ring tone. If you don't want to do that, then you will have to rely on your phone to notify you. I don't believe Amazon sells any compatible indoor chime to pair with the doorbell, which is a shame.
Hey Ibrahim, sorry I don't have an Alexa Echo to test it. But you might find this information helpful: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/integrations/alexa-setup-and-troubleshooting-guide#How%20to%20Set%20Up
You can run this without any wiring because it takes 2 AA batteries. However, Blink has instructions on their support site and in the manual to wire it to your existing chime. I don't believe it can be powered by wiring, the wiring is only for chime functionality if I remember correctly.
To hear it inside, I think you only have two options really. Either you can hard wire it to your existing doorbell chime if you have one, or you have to use an Alexa smart speaker device and pair it that way. I did see some people complain online that there is sometimes a delay between the doorbell press and when Alexa notifies them though. They really should have shipped it with a speaker to keep inside the home like some other video doorbell systems do.
@@andrewdavid8925 100% agree. Not sure why they didn't think about that. They only gave the options to hard-wire it an existing chime system, or have Alexa alert you if you don't want phone notifications. I'm actually going to be doing a review on another doorbell camera next week, which has a chime that I like more than the Blink system.
Hey El_Chamuco345, if you want to record locally, yep you'll need the Sync module and a USB drive. If you are ok with paying Amazon for a monthly plan, then you can just buy the Blink camera and it will save video clips to the cloud.
Hey Danerek, when you connect to your WiFi network, do you know if you are connecting to the 2.4 Ghz band or the 5.0 Ghz band? Blink, and most other camera systems only work on the 2.4 Ghz band. A lot of WiFi networks do not split these bands, so it's hard to know which one you are connecting to. I always go into my modem or router settings and make sure to split the WiFi into two separate bands and I label each WiFi network as Wifi 2.4 and Wifi 5.
Yes, if you don't have a cloud plan, there are lots of features missing unless you have the Sync Module 2. I made a video about the differences between the cloud plan and sync module 2. Biggest difference is that Blink doesn't record any live view without the cloud plan which can be a pretty huge deal breaker.
@@DemCrumblies…I have the Sync Model 2 and yet I still don’t recommend this product to anyone… when I purchased it, the descriptions didn’t not explain that you had to have a plan nevertheless purchase one regardless on the price.
@@elizabethwhite8636 Yes, all the features are present only with a cloud plan. With the Sync Module 2, you lose recordings of live view and playback thumbnails. But I agree, once my cloud trial ended, I was disappointed with the features that were made unavailable afterwards.

Hey Lee, yea with the Sync Module you can pull up live view any time you want, but not for when someone rings the bell. With the Cloud Plan, you can pull up live view when someone rings the bell, but you can't pull it up any other time.
I made a video here about the cloud plan vs using the Sync Module 2 if you are interested here: ua-cam.com/video/akSBK5Girts/v-deo.html
Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for choosing to watch my video 🙂
@@DemCrumblies Thank you very much.

Do I have to buy a bell/ chime separately? What is the solution for people without an electric chime?
Hey The Shatonian, when I made this video, there was no compatible chime option for this system unless you used an Alexa or Echo device. However, Blink has now added the functionality for a Blink mini camera to act as a chime. You can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html (You'll have to buy an additional Blink device to have a Chime)
Hello, just one question that where the chime will be coming from? If only batteries like your video are used ?
Unfortunately, the chime comes from the doorbell only when it is bought as is. Blink recently allowed users to use their Blink Mini Indoor camera as a Chime unit as a secondary function. You can learn more here about it: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html
If you didn't buy this doorbell yet, I highly recommended going with another brand that includes a plug-in chime unit that can be plugged into any wall outlet in your home.

@@DemCrumblies you can pay for cloud storage as an option, but I have local storage on an SD card on the chime that’s plugged in inside the house.

Not sure how to check this on iPhones though. Let me know how it goes.
Hi, can the chime noise coming from the bell button be turned off as at night that would annoy the neighbours?
I don't believe there's a way to disable the chime unfortunately.
where did you plug your sync module? thanks
Mine is plugged into a wall around 15 feet away from the Blink doorbell. Are you having problems with yours?

Only question 🙋🏻♀️ what if I don’t want the recording drive or subscription will it still work properly without it??
Hey Estrellita, so it depends. Here is the info from Amazon's Blink site:
Live View: When you receive a Blink Video Doorbell notification, tapping it opens a Live View session with two-way talk, even when you do not have a subscription or USB storage.
Great video brother thanks for the information 👍

OK wonder if you already have a Sync module because I have a Blink camera already do you have to get a syncmodule for the doorbell
My unit came with the sync module already. You can use the doorbell without the sync module, but if you use the sync module, the battery life lasts longer on the camera, and you can store video files to a USB drive that is connected to the Sync module instead of having to pay for a monthly cloud plan.
your doorbell settings page looks nothing like mine. you have way more options. is that with subscription?
It may look different since Blink likely updated the app since the 2 years ago when I released the video. To find the correct app, there should be a QR code in the box or manual to download the correct app. Please ensure you've downloaded the right app for safety.

I just have the blink camera noticed you couldn't do live view so I went back to Ring doorbell but my brother swears by blink cams

Hey Dave, I never owned the module 1, but if you're getting the module 2, then it'll be best to pair all compatible cameras with the Sync module 2 for best performance. According to the Blink forms, hard wiring is only for chime functionality, it doesn't supply power unfortunately.

Okay so in order for me to use the blank doorbell as a camera that I can check on anytime kind of just like my indoor blink camera, Id need to buy the module and storage drive?

Hi, I Set it Up The Way you Showed in the Video, But How Come it Won't Notifiy Me On My Phone When Someone Rings the Doorbell???
Hey William, the issue is likely due to the Blink App not having permissions to send notifications on your phone. To fix this on an Android phone, you have to go into Settings -> Notifications -> All Apps, then ensure that the Blink App is allowed to send Notifications. You can also go into Setttings -> Apps, then find the Blink App, tap on it, then tap on Notifications and set it to "Allowed". I'm not sure how to do this on an iPhone / iOS, but it the steps should be pretty similar. Let me know how it goes.
Thanks Bud, Worked GREAT!!!
Great to hear that William 👍
Hey man I just bought a Sandisk 128 gb ultra flair 3.0 flash drive for the blink sync module 2 will it work thanks.
Hey Gary, yep that should work fine once you format it in the Sync Module 2 settings in the Blink App.
This was very informative, thank you
Thank you for watching my video sesshylover17! I'm glad it was helpful 🙂
A question, do you know if I can register more than one blink video doorbell with one sync module ?
When you go to the clips screen, does it look like mine in the image link below where there are two tabs at the top? But when you click on the home tab, it shows zero clips right?
drive.google.com/file/d/1BOSJ25ihy4pMSelWKkBoILBb1vH91_mF/view?usp=sharing
Here's an official link from the Blink support page with steps to try if you're having local storage issues: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/local-storage-issues/local-storage-troubleshooting
Maybe you could try to safely eject the USB drive, plug it back in and manually format it. If that doesn't work, I guess try the other recommended steps like restarting the Sync Module or deleting the Sync Module and adding it back again while empty, then plugging in the USB drive again like it's the first time. Let me know how it goes!
@@DemCrumblies Hey Adrian, Thank you for the info. I ended up doing all the suggested troubleshooting with no success. The screen is white and in black letters
The USB storage device has no clips
We have set off motion detection many times but no clips 🤷♀️
Any suggestions?
Can you use more than one doorbell on tje same house and cell phone?
Yep you can, but I think you have to add it to the Sync Module first.
What would your recommend for sensitivity level. Especially if you do not have the sync module.
Thank you for you’re response and video!!
You're welcome. Good luck!

@@blackflower8241 The backplate is a huge pain to insert properly. You have to apply lots of downward pressure while you slide it into place. You will hear a soft click when it goes in.
If you already have a set of cameras and want to add the sync now, is it difficult?
Hey @Michijere77 this is a tricky one. Blink always recommends that you add the Sync Module 2 first, then you add the cameras after. Since you already have the cameras, you could try to add the Sync Module 2 now and if it doesn't work, then you'd have to delete the cameras from the Blink app and readd them using the QR code located at the rear or underside of them, which can be annoying if they're mounted somewhere high.
I can’t hear the doorbell chime inside the house . Why is that. If i get sync module will i hear it
Unfortunately, the Sync Module also does not play a chime sound.
Correct?
@@philbo-ns 100% correct. I also keep my phone on 5.0 Ghz band all the time and I can still pull up the Blink system without issue.
Dem .. perfect .. thanks again for the speedy responses and confirmations. Totally appreciate it !!
@Phil Somers No problem! I see you're a man of culture as well trying to prioritize 5.0 Ghz connections whenever possible 😉
Does the Modul make a sound, ring ?
Unfortunately not, but Blink did recently update the Mini Indoor Camera to function as a camera and Chime to ring when someone uses the video doorbell. I made a video about it here:if you want to see how it works: ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html
Where can I get the adhesive tape thing?is the tape strong
You can use 3M tape like this: geni.us/E4oF1k (Affiliate Link) and yep, it's quite strong, but it's best to apply it on a warm day in the Spring or Summer for best adhesion.
Oh okay thank u so much 😊
You're welcome, thanks for watching 🙂
Why is there a blank image when you open the app. Seems like it should show an image or a previous screen capture?
It shows the previous screen capture when you open the app. I'm not sure why it didn't show it in the video, but when you open the app, what you see on screen is a static image of the last time you clicked to get a manual image feed. I think it is this way to prolong the battery life.
Does it need internet access or is it 100% local?
It needs internet access to work.
Really useful. Thanks Adrian.
You're welcome MrGman2804. Thank you for watching my video 🙂
I just bought the blink without the sync modulo, not sure if and how it will work.
Hey Fernando, if you have a Cloud Plan, you will have full functionality of the video doorbell. If you don't use a Cloud plan or a Sync Module 2, it will still work, but have way way less functions.
I already have a doorbell from blink and want to add it to a sync module I just got with my outside camera
Hey Krissy, as long as your Blink camera says it is compatible with the Sync Module 2, it should be easy to add it. Sometimes though you may need to delete the cameras first, add the Sync module, then readd the cameras again. Here's the full instructions though: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/add-on-sync-modules/adding-a-sync-module

Is there anyway that you and another person in the house can get notifications
The notifications come through my phone, and smart watch that allows for notifications. You can also use an Alexa enabled device.
I just bought the sync module as heard it chimes indoors but it doesn't...
Hey Miranda, I can confirm that the sync module does not chime. You can set an Alexa enabled device to chime though: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/blink-alexa/alexa-doorbell-press-notifications
If you don't own an Alexa enabled device, you can actually use a Blink Mini as a chime (a slightly expensive chime at that): ua-cam.com/video/QQFAk4GwTLk/v-deo.html
hello. how do we link the Blink Doorbell to the mechanical or existing electrical doorbell? thanks

is there a bell in the house, does the sound come from the camera unit?
Hey Biker1!, there is no bell in the house with this unit that you can setup. However, there is an option to wire it to an existing chime, which is only for audio purposes, and does not supply power to the camera. The sound comes from the camera unit. If that isn't loud enough, you can also receive notifications on your phone or an Amazon device like the Echo that supports Alexa.

Question I’m trying to see live video on my wireless should I buy the sync module?
Hi Tevin, yes, buying the sync module allows you to access the live view any time you like, but you will not be able to save any live views without a Blink monthly plan. When my Blink plan trial ends, I will stick to just using the sync module with a USB drive attached to it.

Btw, just remember to use a USB drive between 1 GB to 256 GB. The recorded files are pretty small so even a 32 or 64 GB drive will likely last a long time. Reach out if have any issues after you get your Sync module 2. Good luck!
Mine doesn't show the camera when someone rings the bell and I can't talk with them. How do I solve this?
There's full steps and information on the Blink site here: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/add-on-sync-modules/adding-a-sync-module
Let me know how it goes.
how do you keep this on 24/7 is that even possible
Unfortunately, it doesn't have this function.
So if you get the module2 you don’t have to get into a plan?
Did you purchase the adhesive separately to put on the back of the doorbell?
Hi Beverlythorpe6860, yes, I had received the adhesive from another product I bought. I think almost any kind of strong adhesive strip should work fine since the unit is not too heavy. You can also use a door frame mount like this, which is far more reliable if that is a concern: amzn.to/3NPF10L (Affiliate Link)
@@DemCrumblies Thx for your response. I decided to get a Blink Doorbell Mount which includes an adhesive backing. Caught a great deal since it's Amazon Prime Day.
That's awesome, good luck with the install!
My internet is 5g. Is this Module 5g. I was told it was 2.4
Yes, this can only connect to a 2.4 Ghz WiFi SSID.
I just want to know why doesn’t my sync module doesn’t connect to doorbell camera
Make sure you setup the Sync Module 2 first, then add the Doorbell. They also have to be on the same 2.4 Ghz WiFi band.
i have my doorbell on “event response” and i cannot use the microphone how do i solve this ? do i have to have the sync module?
Hi TankeTTV, are you on Android or iOS? I think the first time you try to use the microphone, it usually asks you to grant the app permission to access your phone's microphone. I don't know how to check on iOS, but on Android, if you long press the Blink App icon, tap on the "i" icon and go into the details, you can see which permissions the App has. Can you check and see if the Blink App has access to your phone's microphone to rule that out as an issue first?
@@DemCrumblies i’m on IOS and i have others blink cameras and i use the microphone, but with the doorbell it doesn’t let me.

@@tankettv1714 Hey Tanke, that's weird. You shouldn't need the Sync Module because Amazon would prefer for you to pay monthly for their Cloud plan. which gives you full functionality. How to wire it ?
You can run this without any wiring because it takes 2 AA batteries. However, Blink has instructions on their support site and in the manual to wire it to your existing chime. I don't believe it can be powered by wiring, the wiring is only for chime functionality if I remember correctly.
so what do i need to hear the doorbell inside the house just in case no one has their phone near them
To hear it inside, I think you only have two options really.
@@DemCrumblies actually would have been great to add chime to sync module
@@andrewdavid8925 100% agree. Not sure why they didn't think about that. My sync nor doorbell will accept my WiFi password and its definitely the right one. I'm ready for the hills.
