And this is the first game from Fromsoftware that you actually have complete freedom to decide when, where, and what enemies to fight. So he probably hasn't realized that you can actually just go around enemies. In my first playthrough, I literally fought every enemy as I make way through stormveil castle. It was only then in my 50 hours of gameplay that I realized that I can just go around, lmao.
Tip: if you want to do massive damage by countering or backstabbing you have to be so close to the enemy and right infront of them and press r1 and then the critical damage animation will play, for example you counter the enemy and the enemy guard is down/open you have to stand directly infront of them and close then press r1 , you can't just press r1 immediately after countering the enemy. In these games you have to try to master the dodges you can't just use your shield and one of the ways to make the dodges easier to do is by lowering your equip load so your dodges can be fast and not slow it makes the dodges so much easier , you can lower the equip load by leveling up stats or removing or changing the armor & weapons you equip because it has varying weights, for example if you equip 2 weapons and the weapons is heavy your dodge will be slow and to fix that is by removing the 2nd weapon.
I know this is a year later but hard agree it’s very well down, the editing, the thorough learning of the game, not really missing obvious stuff cuz he reads everything, if he didn’t already he definitely has good game intuition even if he’s new to the series

Learning to dodge is the most important part, so manage your equip load to be lighter so you can dodge faster. And learn to implement charger up attacks to stun enemies. Backstab criticals and parry criticals is important to learn also. Mixing in the new jump attack is a good thing to do too.

You have to take advantage of the steed Torrent, especially with the bigger enemies like giants. You can dodge and move faster to avoid the big attacks. Love watching you play this!

Bro a couple things: 1) don’t be scared to die! Try new things, try new strategies, this game is about experimentation. If you die, you just grab your runes and try again.. it’s part of the process we all went through. No one was great at these games when we picked them up 2) shield is a great asset, but it kills your stamina and makes you immobile.. take off your second weapon that you don’t use because it’s weighing you down and making you fat roll. The quicker you roll, the more invincibility frames you get. This will let you avoid more attacks when rolling 3) watch a guide for beginners to Elden ring.. I think the channel vaati vidya put one up but there are many. It will teach you the important mechanics. These games are super fun when you get the combat down and you’ll be rewarded with one of the coolest atmospheres and world you’ve seen in a game. This game gets WILD about 1/4 of the way through the

And most of all, explore and persevere, your doing really well to say this is your first major experience of a souls like game, keep up the great work man 👍
Hollow, love watching the gameplay bro! This is a game where you have GOT to learn the basics without going in blind because you are misinterpreting what a lot of the leveling attributes actually are (strength and dexterity) and wasting some points. Also, the armor and weapons you use significantly affect the speed and distance you cover in running, fighting and rolling. I think if you were playing with a full understanding of the game mechanics and progression system, the grind would be faster and a lot more enjoyable for you. Really hope you continue the series! They way that I level up and save my runes is gathering Rowa fruit which when you sell one is 10 runes but when you have 999 Rowa fruit and sell it you will receive 9990 runes. I just kept on doing that for hours, rather than just killing the creatures/monsters. And it got me up to Level 35.
Keep it a series, even if you drop one vid a week showing progression and you grind off camera. The beginning can be a rough patch but once you level up you’ll melt through this area like butter
Tip 1: Unequip the spear so you roll faster. Tip 2: When fighting big enemies, stay behind and close to them. During that, you can dodge better and deal better damage.
My best accomplishments so far are killing 7 of the big guys in one go and the boss that leads to the castle 😂 also went back and fought the horse guy who killed me many many times
Here’s a tip hollow, when you are going up behind a enemy don’t immediately press r1 unless you are touching there backside, cause your not getting the critical hits, and if they fall forward, stand directly in front of them and then press r1, don’t hit r1 from a distance or it won’t work
I'm definitely picking the samurai for my 1st playthrough because you get a bow and a sword and seems like the arrows are pretty powerful from what everyone has been saying staying back and taking targets out from the distance lol

So this is not a tip, it's a must. Get rid of the shield, unequip it and use the weapons 2 handed, and learn how to dodge, since shields later on and against bosses are useless, you just survive 2 more seconds. And make sure you don't heavy roll.
Well i think a shield can be useful throughout the game. But your right with that learning to dodge is more important. But if you learn to dodge good and then you can use the shield for maximum defense. So if someone likes to use shield i think it's a valid option, but mastering the dodging is the most important part. @@vincentdc211 not necessarily, there are different speeds of rolls that depends on how much equip load you have. For example. If you have heavy armor you are most likely gonna heavy roll. Which is a very slow roll animation. But if you have lighter armor or take off some equipment you will have a faster rolling animation.
Let’s get it!!!! Also I’d say look up some videos to find some good weapons to help you out on your journey. I know that may not be your style but it could really help you out if you get some good weapons, also don’t forget MAGIC IS BROKEN ASF!!!
Hollow! i dont know if anyone left this comment yet, however your equipment is too heavy! you have heavy rolls which is slowing you down and making you take more damage than you need to, i would unequip your helmet until you find other armor. hope this helps! theres also an attribute that helps this if you increase it so you give yourself options!

Tip: I suggest using stealth and taking out all of the knights at the gate front ruins. After there is a hidden path in the ruins that leads you to the wetstone knife that is used for ashes of war. This will grant you abilities and upgrades you can use for your weapons in the future.
Keep it going my man, you will improve quickly when you focus on the basics. Tip: youre fatrolling (too much weight). It slows you down. Try to lose some heavy armor.
Tips for hollow : 1. Each Enemy has a unique attack pattern like A fast attacker, Heavy attacker (Like their Attack Combo: Ex. Hint: Turn your multiplayer on so you can see hints and messages throughout the map from other players in the world, very helpful
