Let be honest. Cooking, I am good at. Baking, not so much. I don't have to follow a recipe when cooking but you do when baking. So, nothing ever turns out for me baking.

Baking can definitely be a science at times. I've had several baking recipes not turn out for one reason or another. Cooking is way easier since you can be creative with the recipes like you said!

You're very welcome! I'm the one that usually cooks and Dan jumps in every now and then to help me out which is nice. Let me know how the top crust works out! I bet that will be delicious!

Precooking the berry filling is brilliant! My husband loves raspberries, but really loves marion berries, I will have to try this! (Love your measuring cup btw)

I love marion berries too but oddly enough, have never made a marion berry pie. Precooking the filling is the way to go with frozen fruit!

Real People talking and baking like real people. Not all glitzy and perfect.
My mother made BEAUTIFUL pies and most especially, pie crusts - works of art. All five of her daughters do too. But that is more the exception, than the rule. Most people piece them together and it's good to see videos that show it's totally fine and tastes just as good. Give it a try!

Yes I agree with you! I love watching videos of real people doing things in a not-so-perfect way and showing that it still turns out alright! I'm getting better at pies. Sometimes they come out a little ugly but more often than not now, they are coming out a little pretty :)

That’s awesome that you grow your own raspberries, even if they weren’t ready die this video, lol! I also hate soupy pies, this looks so good!

Thank you! Every year we get a few more raspberries. Our plants are only a few years old so hopefully one day soon we'll get enough for several pies!

Curious if cooking the crust on its own and adding the cooled raspberry mix would result in a crispy crust

    • @TastesSoMuch

I know a lot of people parbake the crust before adding the filling and then finish baking the pie so that the crust gets nice and done on the underside.

hhmm...do you remember how long you cooked the filling for? Cornstarch needs to cook for a bit to really thicken up. Let's troubleshoot this and figure out what happened.
