We appreciate that you show how to make these pies with frozen fruit. Sometimes it's hard to find sweet fruit and the frozen ones are such a great option. Love raspberries with lemon too. That's true that sometimes the brand you get makes a difference. Right now we just have frozen mango in the fridge... I wonder if it would work the same, probably not. Haha
Yes, good quality fresh fruit is hard to come by, so that is why frozen fruit is the best alternative because it is always at least fairly good, cheap, and available year round. Attempting to make a mango pie is something I want to do one day, so maybe I will satisfy your curiosity with a video, haha!
Your pie looks really good! I like raspberries, but I’m not crazy about the seeds. I love how honest you are about your feelings about your recipes. If you’re not a fan, you tell the truth. Great video, Parnell!
Hi again, Andrea! I am glad that you like my honesty: if my followers make one of my recipes, I want them to know what to expect. Although this definitely wasn't bad--it was actually good--it was not amazing. Perhaps it was just me, though. I may revisit this recipe in the future. We shall see. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Life is crazy now lol.
Thank you so much, Ellen! Using frozen fruit takes a lot of the prep work out of making a pie, and this raspberry pie was no exception. Stay tuned so that you see what I have planned next, haha!👨🍳🥧
Parnell wow what an incredible frozen raspberry pie recipe I did watch it until the end and you actually said it wasn’t your favorite you couldn’t put a finger on it maybe because of the seeds in the raspberries. But I do love raspberries for their tartness and sweetness in the seeds don’t bother me so I would probably love this pie you always do such a great job on crimping and making the pie look beautiful
Thanks for the support, Jeff! I always watch your videos all the way to the end as well! Yes, like I said, for some reason this pie wasn't my favorite. Perhaps it was the texture, perhaps it wasn't sweet enough...I'm not quite sure. I guess that every pie can't be my favorite pie, haha! And thanks for the kind words about crimping the edges: even if this pie wasn't my favorite in terms of flavor, it was still beautiful--I love that intense red color! Thanks again for watching as always!👨🍳🥧

Thank you so much! I think that the bit of lemon juice really helps to make this pie more interesting. The pie turned out beautifully: I especially liked the bright red color. Thanks for watching!
I love raspberries. Thank you for sharing your pie with us. It looks delicious 😋. I remember when I was a kid. There were these jelly rolls with raspberry. I can’t find them anymore just strawberry. Hope you have a great day. Sorry I’m late. I been on vacation.
Thanks, Stacie! Although this pie wasn't my favorite, it looked stunning! Those raspberry rolls sound good...perhaps you could do some experimentation and make a recipe? And now it's my turn to apologize for not responding to you. Life is crazy now, but I hope all is well with you!
I love raspberries, I personally think they are such an underrated berry. I love the idea of a raspberry pie - it looks very tasty. Can only imagine it tastes! Thank you for sharing Parnell!
I like raspberries, too. I agree that they are underrated...but like I said in the video, for some reason this pie didn't "wow" me like I thought it would. Maybe I need to work on it a bit more... Thanks for watching as always, Elliott!👨🍳🥧
I think you're right about the nature of raspberries. They do have a tendency to disintegrate when cooked; especially frozen ones. Your pie still looks really well made and it's great to experiment.... That's how you have already come up with so many delicious recipes to share! Super to watch as always Parnell .. Catchya again soon.....👍
Yes, raspberries definitely seem to fall apart when cooked. Although that wasn't a huge deal, in terms of the flavor, like I already said, this pie was good, but not spectacular...but I just wish that as a chef I could tell you why. And yes, you definitely need to try something new every once in a while; otherwise, you will miss out on a lot of good things. Thanks for watching, Margaret!
Whether you thought you hit a home run or not........I so appreciate your honest opinion of the receipe! I dare say it's difficut to find people you give an honest review of their receipes/ cooking/ etc. Thus the total trust you have of mine. Although it may not be possible, i too wod prefer not to lose the appearance of raspberries.
Thanks, Jeffrey. My goal is to give my followers good recipes, so if something is truly terrible, I probably won't share it unless I do a kitchen fails video, lol. Honestly, I think that some people would probably like this raspberry pie with frozen berries...but I think most people would say this is "good, but not great." Yes, I would have preferred to have had bits of whole fruit, like with the strawberries, but I did a Google search for raspberry pie, and almost all of them showed pies in which the raspberries basically fell apart...so I guess it wasn't my fault. Thanks for leaving such a support comment! 👨🍳🥧
Thank you so much! I feel like raspberries are more common in Argentina than here. In terms of availability, your raspberries are our blueberries, haha😀
@@ParnellTheChef I don't know in other provinces, but in CABA raspberries are rare and expensive. Blueberries became more common in recent years and are easy to find, but still relatively expensive and the ones available here taste of slightly acidic nothingness 😢.
It looked scrumptious! I use the leftover trimmed crust to make leaves to decorate the tops of my pies. Maybe you should use more sugar, and less cornstarch in your next pie. That may help the texture. Just an idea.
Thanks, Teresa! Using leftover crust to make leaves is a great idea! Thanks so much for the ideas. I may need to work with another thickening agent: although cornstarch is easy to find and cheap, too much causes the filling to be a bit dry...perhaps that is why I didn't think it was amazing...along with needing a tad bit more sugar. Haha thank you so much for the support! I have definitely had my fair share of disasters in the kitchen. Although this raspberry pie wasn't a disaster--it was actually good--it wasn't great like I was expecting. I think it's probably that raspberries are just difficult in pies, I agree. Honestly, I have had cakes and other things with raspberries, and I was not "wowed" by those desserts, so maybe I am just not a raspberry person, haha. Thanks for the support as always!

The very first Cake I decorated for Family was Chocolate with Raspberry jam in the center and my Family and Myself Loved it. Sorry for the Bragging lol. But I think cos Raspberry is smaller and it can't withstand the heat of the oven and reason they may have collapsed but this is just my opinion and no reflection on you, Parnell The Chef.
Thanks, Michael! Oh wow, that cake sounds great! Chocolate raspberry is a great combination. I agree: I think that raspberries are a fragile fruit, so they are likely to fall apart during baking: even when you buy them fresh, some are almost always a bit squashed, haha. Thanks for watching as always!👨🍳🥧
Hi, Liberty Ann! I have never used tapioca instead of cornstarch, but I did a quick Google search, and it seems like most cookbooks recommend 2 tablespoons tapioca for every 1 tablespoon or cornstarch. So, if I use 8 tablespoons of cornstarch in this pie, that would be 16 of tapioca...that is a cup, so quite a bit. It might be OK, but too much thickener can make a pie somewhat dry...but like I said, I've never tried it. Grand Marnier could work...more of an orange flavor than lemon. I think this pie probably already has enough acidity from the fruit itself, so I think that Grand Marnier would probably be OK. Let me know how your pie turns out👨🍳🥧
It was a beautiful pie, that is too bad it wasn't your favorite but I appreciate your honesty! I doubt it was the brand of berries either, maybe raspberries just aren't the best in pies!
Yes, it was definitely beautiful--too bad the flavor did not match the beauty. Honestly, I think that it needed a bit more sugar...or maybe raspberries are best mixed with other fruit in pies. Perhaps I need to experiment a bit more. Thanks for watching as always, Alicia!
You don't see people normally making raspberry pies due to the overall berry essence. It doesn't make for savory pies. That is why you didn't love the pie as much as you thought you would. Though kudos to you on your being adventurous. And like on that video where you did the lemon custard pie and you said you would maybe try an orange pie...and I responded saying that people don't normally make orange pies. Orange is good in many things, but the essence of orange doesn't lend itself to pie making as a slam dunk. Lime does, as it is different from lemon, but keeps a different appeal and flavor that can be pie worthy. Orange just isn't for pies, but you can do well with orange essence pound cakes. In regards to this video, I don't have a great fondness for eating raspberries. My first experiences with fresh was so-so. It didn't turn out to be what I hoped it would be, and I suppose that made me a bit bias about raspberries. I do like raspberry flavor in some tea or some other things things though.
Hi, Temo! Yes, I agree: I think raspberries work best in pie along with some other fruit otherwise, the pie comes out being a bit lacking in flavor. I agree that lemon custard is likely going to be superior to orange custard...but part of me is still curious. Like you said, I expect it to be "good, but not great," so maybe I will do it at some point when I have already eaten a lot of pies, haha. See, I like fresh raspberries, and I like raspberry tea / flavorings...so I was a bit surprised that I didn't really like it--but it was definitely a good culinary experience. Thanks for watching!👨🍳🥧
