- Tensions run high at Joey Peeps funeral. Johnny Sack gets word that Tony Blundetto was spotted in the neighborhood the night Joey Peeps got killed. John is also angry at Carmine Luperttazi Jr's presence at the funeral.

I was astounded to read that Johnny Sack was the first major acting role Vincet Curatola played. He absolutely nailed this role and held his own on a show that was brimming with many talented actors.
He was an absolute 10/10 choice for the role, he dominates every scene he is in. Perfect character, both funny in his own way and also ruthless when necessary (or when he just loses his temper)
Johnny Sack has always been my favorite character from the show.
Shut your mouth.
Frrl?! He's one of my favorite characters in the show so that's awesome lol
The woman that played his wife (Jenny Sacs) was also a first-time actor.

Notice how emotional Johnny Sack got at Joey Peeps funeral. He looked genuinely heartbroken like he lost a son. Then you look at Tony and Christopher's relationship and what that amounted to in the end.
Wow. You make an immensely powerful point. Johnny died with his loving wife and daughter by his side. He truly respected them. Tony was in therapy the entire show and still never really showed love to anybody but Meadow and Silvio. Not his wife or son or cousin. Just those 2. Bobby died and Junior went nuts and he didn't even cry about it. Jeez what a jerk.😔

Johnny Sacks was my all-time favorite Sopranos character. So much about him was amazing, including the respect and love he had for his wife. He got mad often, and was certainly a fearful man, but he was always fair with Tony. He respected Tony and Tony respected him back. I was upset when he died.

Johnny Sack is Definitely in my top 5 Sopranos characters. Great character, great performance
Every scene with Tony and Johnny Sack is just brilliant.
I love the smirk John gives when Tony says his cousin was with him last night. He knows how Tony operates and doesn't believe him for a second.
Yeah, it's the kind of look where he can hardly believe Tony is covering for his cousin and preventing his friend from taking vengeance by doing so and similarly pissing on their friendship.
@@kentvesser9484 But John has already taken it in perspective. Out of respect from one boss to another, he didn't hit Blundetto.
John doesn't want to nor can afford a war with NJ crews over Peeps' death. Tony covered for Blundetto. But Carmine, his partner, and Blundetto are already out of pocket by making their own moves.
Eventually, Blundetto screwed up for himself and Tony had the unpleasantness of having to whack his own cousin to spare him a gruesome death.
At least John's hands weren't dirty in Peeps' hit.
Johnny Sacks was a whole different kind of terrifying when he was pissed.
Cause the man had an army in NYC
"My fucking tempa"
Nuckin Futs Johnny Sack wasn't terrifying . He was made to look weak throughout this series
@@christiansoldier77 no, EVERY character had their own weak points...literally every one. Just as they each had their own terrifying traits too, like Johnny.

It’s so nuanced and detailed it’s scary
Your appreciation for James acting made me realize how great he is
Tony is distracting Johnny here. Making him split his anger between his cousin and Lupertazzi Jr because he knows John would explode if he doesnt do that. Always a chess game between these two.

@@georgeedward1691 uh you're confused. Lorraine was killed while Johnny Sac was in a war with Little Carmine. He wasn't in prison yet.
@@jakep1979 He never had balls to kill Tony.
@@stevem2323 If he had the balls to order a hit on Carmine than he isn't going to blink with the leader of a glorified crew.
@@jakep1979 Yeah right, the balls? Is that why he wanted to use Tony? He didn't have balls to make any move on a boss of another family , it's a different proposition to killing his own boss. That's why Phil also didn't wanted to take out Tony for a long time. And when he finally did it, he fucking lost his life.
IMO, Vincent Curatola gave one of the most powerful performances on the show. A brilliant piece of acting!
No one could smoke a cigarette the way that he did.
They did a great job of bringing in characters slowly and increasing their roles gradually. It always worked and by the time Johnny Sacks really emerged Curatola was ready. JS was funny, practical, whip smart, cunning, manipulative, formidable and dangerous. Everybody was so good but VC was dynamic and owned his scenes. Four best actors for me: Gandolfini
Nancy Marchand
Curatola/ Dominic Chianese
@@pjk9056 Insightful comment.
My top 4 would be the same except I'd replace Marchand with Edie Falco considering Carmela was a full time character. Her performance was too good. She delivered it right away with the first episode.
But due praise to Marchand as well.
Siddharth Gautam Fair point. Marchand had a very long career going back to live tv in the 50’s. While she played a variety of characters onstage, she eventually became typecast as an old money wasp onscreen. Livia was so different it amazed me. Edie Falco was certainly great. My choosing Marchand may have been influenced by the length of her career and the uniqueness of her final role.
@@pjk9056 Have not been familiar to Marchand's career which must be illustrious as you suggest, as I haven't watched much western cinema or TV. Indeed, she did a fine job in her final role.
That exchange with Tony and Silvio actually had me laughing out loud when I first saw it, there’s something so hysterical about Tony’s reaction to the headstone, and Silvio reaching for any random excuse to give them a pass.
The way Tony comes up with great lies on the spot is amazing and then he sounds so convincing I almost believe him, even when I know he’s lying. 😂
@ℂ'𝕖𝕤𝕥 𝕊𝕚 𝔹𝕠𝕟! that is fucking awesome haha. Tony was the same way when he calls Adrianna about Chris “attempted suicide”. So believable that it’s chilling. 😂
Many people are saying he's more creative than Spielberg
Johnny didn't believe one word of it.
His best one was when Artie had the rifle on him, accusing him of blowing up Vesuvio. "Ask yourself Awtie....am I dat f**kin stupid." He was, but not at that moment!
@@user-te6ru8kw3h yes very true. Just another example of a lie that Tony told right on the spot that was at least somewhat believable.
The look Tony gives Blundetto at the end was the look of death. Tony knew his cousin was living on borrowed time!
+Kanguesso Kang Very true. It was worse, in a way, then the look Johnnie Sack gave him. Had the look of a boss who is going to have to fire, an employee, they don't want to have to fire, but are going to have to 'pull the trigger'.
mikem987 Yep, in the end Tony himself chose or was "forced" to whack his own cousin for the sake of business between the two families. What would you have done in Tony's shoes? Would you have whacked your own cousin to save the relationship between the two families from souring any further?
+Kanguesso Kang It reminded me of one of those tense business decisions, where you have to make a decision between old family/friend ties and business. I think the thing with Blundetto, is Toney knew his cousin was going to do it again, and there was something 'off' about Bludetto. It still wasn't enough for Toney to pull the trigger on his own, but he was sort of forced into a corner. One of those tough 'executive decisions', where you know the employee, even though you like them, is sort of a 'lost cause'. You don't want to have to 'fire' them, but a decision is in order. In the regular world, they just get fired and you hope they can reform themselves and 'come around' at some point. In Toney's world, they get permanently 'fired'...
mikem987 Definitely understand your point which is valid. However, he wasn't just an "employee", he was family, blood family. He did time for Tony, he went down on a robbery beef which he did 15 years and Tony was supposed to have been with him but didn't show up, Blundetto got caught and didn't rat on Tony, true soldier, went down with the ship. If roles were reversed, I doubt Phil would have done what Tony ended up doing. Phil would have probably told Tony to go kick rocks and protected his cousin.
Or Tony could have just stepped aside and told New York, "look, I won't help you find him, he's family, but you do what you gotta do, I won't stand in your way".

The fart was a made man...
At first I was kinda confused as to why John was so angry with Tony and why he sided with Phil during this entire saga and now I know why; it’s because Tony straight up lies to him regarding his cousin’s whereabouts the night Joey bought it. He invented an entire lie out of thin air on the spot; how can you trust someone who has that ability or desire? So yeah, I think John had every right to be angry with Tony seeing how Tony basically spat in his face. I truly believe shit wouldn’t have escalated to the degree it did if Tony had simply said he didn’t know whether his cousin was involved or not. The way he ended up doing made it seem like Tony was siding with his cousin rather than just trying to protect him from retaliation for something he didn’t do.
He didn't make it up out of thin air. He knew Tony B killed the dude and that he would possibly have a situation like this come up.
Yeah but the story he tells about a missing daughter is absolute bullshit lool. That’s what I meant by “out of thin air; it seemed more like he was pulling that story out of his ass because he had to not only deny Tony B was involved but remove him far away from the scene.
