I will preface by saying that i am by no means a crafter expert! So if any crafter / gatherer mains have deeper knowledge on prep i would love to see your knowledge down here! - So this video covers mostly for raiders and/or Casuals looking to step into the raid scene!
Stock up on Aethersand for consumables and pre-craft Alkahests for the crafted gearset. Whether you use it for yourself or your static, or you sell it on the market, they'll be in high demand
PF o Clock baby, I just pray they make my beloved black mage somewhat worthy of being brought in savage... right now its looking rather dire

The most important part is as you said to find a Savage static that fits your personality, if you cannot have fun playing. Then pretty much everything else is just waste of time.
Only done some Savage, not that dedicated to do them at once nor day 1 prog.
But Yeah that is my recommendation.
The group is probably the most important, a great dynamic and comradery is essential, considering it will be many deaths and hopefully laughter.

You missed one crucial step: Be prepared to fail and learn.
My first time progging Savage opening weekend I spent ALL WEEKEND trying to get a clear for the first fight and people would just leave within the first couple of wipes without even attempting to learn. This happened ALL WEEKEND!
Very true and indeed one of the key elements of raiding, If thou does not have the patience to be dead...and then dead again, then thou will not see the glorious loot ahead. But honestly it's mindboggling how scared people are of failing and putting in the work and consistency.
i am leveling up my picto and sage just incase vpr and war isnt making it... but loving war so far on lv100 tho
