My husband suggested I wear my hair for our wedding when I was freaking out about it. It just made me fall even more in love with him. He’s just as proud of my hair as I am 💕
You can’t say you love your hair if you don’t find it classy enough to bring it to an event .. yoo an updo or a fro with a classy dress COMMON ! Thats one of the 7th wonders on the world !!!
We are the only race of women that have to be ashame of our hair, I love being natural and will stay natural until I die, education is so important, just because you hate your hair , our hair can be just as beautiful as anyone else hair, take time and use the right products and tools you won't have nothing to worry about, as a black women that loves and takes good care of her hair I am upset that these conversations still happens, I get complaints on my long natural hair always, my daughters and granddaughters all have healthy beautiful natural hair too, so sad that she and others are not happy with themselves, I love my hair won't change for nobody.....
We are our own downfall. When other races say negative things about our hair how can we be upset when we don’t like our own hair. She has her opinion and sadly I won’t ever want to be a part of any event she has. If self hate were a person
This is why I cant stand when women are not fully honest about their hair. They claim its men who don’t like coily natural hair but thats not true. They dont like their own hair because men claim they don’t like wigs either. And you don’t need straight hair to have a corporate look for work.
@@jmunroe not at all when they deliberately do what they don’t like. How are they seeking their approval when women wear wigs and men say they don’t like them?
SOME men really don't like 4c hair, some men don't even like their own hair. Their preference of biracial or of loose curly hair is what makes women want to hide it even more. At least black American men, but it was worse in the early 2000's now its more covert if they haven't learned to love themselves already. So I wouldn't say that's not true & it does affect how black women view themselves when it's constantly in rap music about how black men want hispanic/white women it's subliminal. Then on top of that, some black american men call black women masculine, bottom of the totem pole compared to other races, too dark blah blah blah, & everything under the sun. Not just men tho some black American family members will compare siblings to each other saying, your dark but your sister has curly hair & lighter skin & treat one better than the other. Some family members will make comments about your hair. It's really hurtful & if you're not a strong person hearing that constantly growing up from your own people will take a toll on your self-esteem. Especially in America where you're not used to seeing anyone be natural or love themselves. It's getting better now tho. Plus the history of slavery & some of the brainwashing about our features have trickled down. I honestly thought this was just a black american issue growing up/

None of those wigs are invited to my event! Like one of the ladies commented, they don't like their hair because men state they don't like it. Its all for the male gaze and approval of people from other races, propagated by the European beauty aesthetic.
I’ve never met a man that likes wigs, but I’ve met several that are quite disgusted by them. Once they realize it’s a wig, they sleep with her and move on the next. Because the other thing is, unless the woman is lighter skinned, black women never look European with these straight hair wigs. They just look off-putting.
Soooo, we’re still holding on to the idea that people with naturally straight or wavy hair can wear it as it naturally is, wether that be in a ponytail or out (down), but we need to wear straight ponytails, wigs, and weaves???🤨 Goofy logic💀🙃
This part!!! I was talking to my sis about this before reading your comment...people with naturally straight hair will wear their hair as it is,or even flowing in the wind and it would still be seen as beautiful and effortlessly chic but afro hair Needs to be TAMED????... In order to be seen as beautiful... That's just sad...😥
I am wondering….Does the shade of her dark skin conveniently go with her church clothes, pick up the kids clothes as well as her expensive dresses (and fancy venues) or would she change her skin color, if she could?? Given the incredible number of styles available to those fortunate enough to have textured strands, I am amazed that she can’t manage to put as much effort or $$$ into styling a suitable hair look to go with her special expensive dresses as she must put into choosing the dresses??!! But what do I know??….I’m just a tall, brown woman with full, thick curly-coily, strands past my neck that I wear out in its full wash-n-go glory….who gets stopped constantly by random people complimenting the awesome beauty of my natural strands doing what they do!! 😀 Clearly , This chick is WAAAY too special for me!!
I don’t think so cos being darkskin is now “trendy” and although it’s a little weird I’m happy cos at least it’s something. Dark skin is truly beautiful 😍
I wear my natural hair all the time even when it becomes unsightly. I'm not offended bc I realize it takes a certain type of confidence to wear natural hair especially if the texture is different. I don't have curly hair so some folks may look at it differently...but I feel like wigs may thin your hair out. Is it true that wigs thin your hair...not so sure bc I don't wear them.
Even though this video was negative. I believe that it has really shown us that there was a lot of work we have done but also shows us there is still work to do. And this has only LIT another fire 🔥 under my ass to wear my natural every where I go. Even though I wear it 95% of the time I want that to be 100%. This should be the norm for us. If we look at our ancestors our crown was literally our glory and we treated it as such by adorning our crowns with beads, accessories and such but not other people’s hair. We need to go back to that. There are still traditions in the continent that still do this but mostly for events.
So true. It needs to be the norm . I wear mine out 100% of the time and as a creator sometimes I get bored of the natural hair scene cos I’m thinking how many times am I going to make a wash day video or another how to video about the same topics others are making but things like this keep me going for sure 😅
I wouldnt be surprised if her natural hair is in bad shape underneath thar wig and that shes just bitter that she cant get her hair to look like those she secretly envies.
"I have natural hair...how can I hate it?" gives me the same vibes as "I have black friends, how can I be racist?" Like it's called INTERNALIZED Racism for a reason lol. I just feel bad for people who think like her in this day and age.
Like, I'm struggling with my hair due to health issues. But i still love what I have and my boyfriend loves watching me do my hair. Even when i felt negatively about my own hair I always wanted big beautiful curls or fro. Nothing too perfect, but fluffy and carefree. I admired other women's natural hair because of how full and beautiful it looks. My hair is doing better now, and i feel more happy with myself. And i wore my natural hair to prom. Wore a twist out and got lots of compliments
Everyone of them on that panel are wearing white-oriented wigs and think they look good. Each one looks fake and looks they are trying too hard. Each one have beautiful faces and would look so much better if they worn their "natural" hair. Black is beautiful. 😊 Great video. I went the same mental games when I went natural. It's so funny, when I wear my hair out, I get so many compliments from white people. How ironic. She could not keep that to herself because she felt in a safe place with the ladies she was talking to.
May the Lord have mercy unto that Person who is against kinky hair, because natural hair comes in all different textures like straight and wavy. Yes I understand the frustration that can come with treating and maintenance of kinky hair, like oiling the hair every so often to avoid dryness and breakage. I understand that it’s more work than straight or curly hair, but GOD MAKES NO MISTAKE! If we all had straight hair, it would be so boring! I understand that the temptation to relax hair comes and we may fall into it, but when you realize how much more healthier and versatile our kinky hair is, relaxed hair has no competition on natural kinky hair! So I pray that the lady who mentioned those comments in the podcast/interview may have en encounter with God and make her realize her kinky hair is God given and the the devil is a big liar, May the Lord rebuke him‼️‼️‼️ I struggled with accepting my hair as I rewatched adulthood because of the standards of society, but when you find your identity on Christ, the standard of society slides by you like nothing! I asked God for forgiveness for the damage I caused into my hair, just to expose its real length or putting on things to it to make it look longer.
I have natural hair and I agree with you except when you quickly went over the fact that it is more time consuming because yes it is even when you go for a simple minimalist routine. There is a reason why we have kept saying that for years. Long straight hair is more consuming than short straight hair. Long kinky-coily hair is more time consuming that long straight hair. And obviously even worse when your hair is thick. It takes more time to wash but I think we can agree that it takes even more time to detangle and style because you better stretch it before you even do any style to minimize tangles if it's long or mid length. Same, working in section is a necessity to prevent breakage and those section can be small if you have coarse hair... I have seen many women cut their hair because it took them too much time in their new mum life and they found it to be too much time consuming when their time becomes so limited and precious. Obviously some styles are simpler than others... That's what I do but the final look is not what every single women love/prefer. It is consuming but we don't all need to have long hair. Mid length, or short hair are also options... Also obviously things are also easier for those who can afford stylists or friends/family to style their hair for them. In the end denying that it takes more time does not help but adapting your daily lifestyle when possible in order to make it less times consuming is a way to go in my opinion.
I understand what you are saying but I don’t agree that I glossed over it at all? It really goes without saying that natural hair is time consuming depending on length, density, curl type etc. it comes with the territory that’s why it’s important to educate oneself about how to mitigate some of those things. In the video I did agree that yes it can be time consuming but just like anything you have to set aside time to look after it and I was also comparing it to wigs as this is the conversation here. These same people who prefer wigs or any other extensions over their own hair spend the same amount of time looking after the extensions so that’s where I was coming from. The people who relaxed or cut their hair because they became mums , that’s a decision they made and that’s ok but what wouldn’t be ok is if they then turned around bashing people like myself who with 2 kids under 4 have stuck with my hair although I might look crazy sometimes lol that’s kinda what I’m getting at. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts 💭
The issue is that most people tense to do too much on their hair, which makes it burdensome for them. I choose a very simple routine for my hair and I don't stress myself doing my hair myself I pay to fix my hair. Our Ancient mothers grew there hair without doing much. So I thing going by simple routine will help. Not doing too much. Our hair grows naturally all we need is just to retain our length.
The MOST HIGH says, are hair is are crown and glory. It's so many minimal hairstyles you can use with your natural hair, even as a mom. Remember less is more. You can put them in twist, braids, and just leave them alone.
Yes some have said that for years, but what’s also being ignored is how many (type 4’s) have said that it doesn’t take long. So the most accurate thing to do is for everyone to simply speak for themselves and also take what others are saying to heart. Thats it. There are those of us who will never subscribe to the ‘difficulty of natural hair’ because it just does not reflect our lifestyle. Are we to then lie for the sake of affirming someone else’s lifestyle? No. All of us don’t need sections and stretching. That’s you and anyone else that feels the need to do the same. And that’s ok. The rest of us can detangle and style without all the other steps. And that’s ok. I do agree with you wholeheartedly about length, regardless of the texture, knowledge and experience, long hair will always take longer to do than short hair. But it stops there for me. Simple routines matters. Texture acceptance, being comfortable with what our texture does, how it looks without all the smoothing and glossing, matters. It always will in this conversation.
Its not embarrassing, she just hates her texture (4b or 4c) and her length, no disrespect to the 4c girls. I am pretty sure if she had a certain texture and or length she would be singing a different tune.
I love my natural hair and will wear it to any event, or for any occasion that I please. My husband also loves my natural hair and encourages me to wear it all the time. He says he prefers my natural hair over wigs any day! So I will continue to proudly show my 4b/4c hair wherever I go no matter what others may think or say. What is amazing is that I get approving looks and straight compliments from men and women who have straight hair, whereas my own black brothers and sisters with the same type of hair as I have, continue with their negative opinions and comments! Why?? Just over here smh🤔
I was never in that place. We have to learn to care for ourselves andteach one another how to care for naturalhair. Especially when you see they don't have the knowledge or experience. Each one teach one OG original guidance in positivity and love
I believe the lady was referring to some guys out there who have their hair twisted like porcupine not groom and ridicule. For the sister, their hair are beautiful and well maintained.
Man, do women of other races have to ask, 'Can I wear my natural hair to your events?' Smh But anyway, I love how broke down this clip and responded with grace. Also, I can appreciate that you still love your hair despite being put down by family and peers. Black women still experience so much hate for just being ourselves. 💜
I really hope little black girls do not see that video. It took us a long time to get to where we are today either our hair. We live everything about our natural especially how beautiful it looks either a fancy, dress, jewelry at a fancy event. How the hell do you not want to wear the hair that grows from your scalp at fancy events. I will rock a fro anywhere.
How is natural hair boring but the same played out 30in middle part jet black lace front with baby hairs Isn’t? Literally all the women who wear it look the same. When women wear their natural hair, they each look distinct and it suit their personality. What’s also crazy is the same ones who complain about the work natural hair takes, yet they will spend HOURS melting, dying, curling/straightening, and cleaning a wig with hair that’s not theirs. They watch UA-cam videos about IG all day and then act like they can’t do it for their own hair
I don't wear full on wigs... I have worn a wig piece before and I've worn braided extensions... YEARS AGO. That is pure nonsense that she is talking. She has NO self-esteem as she tries to tell everyone that the hair that is naturally grown out of her head is something awful. She's got issues with herself.
Its the self hatred. And the excuses we make to ourselves... I guess i always thought the blacks outside the US had more love for themselces since their culture was left more intact. 😢 i guess not.
It’s this lipstick www.superdrug.com/make-up/lips/lipstick/bourjois-rouge-velvet-the-lipstick-05-brique-a-brac/p/741114 Bought it in a whim but it’s literally the best. Goes on creamy, dries Matte and lasts all day even after eating and reapplying
If she would of said something like our hair is our crown and because of who we are as melanin people our hair holds so much power that everyone shouldnt see it. Then I would be like I get what shes saying because even the bible says that a womens hair should be covered, BUT the amount of Ignorance in this video is just disrespectful to ALL black women. our hair is who we are it's our wisdom our light. When a black women cuts her hair even if its a trim we lowkey get mad because our hair has power.
Her cheap smelly wig has nothing on our beautiful natural hair. Suits all occasions and outfits as long as you love it❤ its you who makes your hair worth it😂 she hate her hair and wants to put it on us...naw some of us have invested in our hair and love it!! Its a gift from God, I adore my hair and I love God for making me beautifully different ❤
Wearing a wig feels so dirty, stuffy, unnatural and just fake. It helps in getting opportunitues in this racist world but once you make the money, it should be totally discarded. There is no type of hair as beautiful as black AFRICAN hair. Its just simply amazing. A wonder of nature.

@@desireehoward4464 twists and braids both take several hours to complete.
Yes, she’s terrible representation for whatever her hair type is.
Like this beautiful head of hair and length

Bingo. I have 4a 4b hair and I love my hair
She is lost lost lost i hope she finds her way back home😢
‼️‼️‼️
How embarrassing they are !!😮😢
Very‼️
😂😂😂 I simply laugh at such women. I dont care enough if you hate yourself, I’m only focused on me. Also I’m Nigerian but don’t know this chic
Yeah it’s mind blowing 🤯. My husband loves my natural hair too but he really had no choice cos he found me like this 😅💕
I was never in that place. We have to learn to care for ourselves andteach one another how to care for naturalhair. Especially when you see they don't have the knowledge or experience. Each one teach one OG original guidance in positivity and love
I think this conversation will never be productive without addressing the effects of “white” supremecy, its origin, and impact on our brains.
Thank you so much for addressing those comments ❤
I just had to cos it’s so damaging 🫣
I love you. Thank you for this great video. The ladies that said those horrible things are just sad and ashamed of their natural beauty.
Thank you for watching lovely. I pray we all finally see the beauty in our hair one day ❤️
I believe the lady was referring to some guys out there who have their hair twisted like porcupine not groom and ridicule. For the sister, their hair are beautiful and well maintained.
If ignorance and i want to belong was a person.😂
That wig looks like she bought it at the 99 cent store 🤣🤣
Thanks so much for this video, especially as a Nigerian person Myself.
And. And "Aseobi" is pronounced "a:shio:bi". 😊
Thank you for watching and thank you. I just knew it was wrong 😂
She's said all that with a bowling ball sitting on top of her head 😂 cause that wig ain't it...natural hair is beautiful!
Man, do women of other races have to ask, 'Can I wear my natural hair to your events?' Smh
But anyway, I love how broke down this clip and responded with grace. Also, I can appreciate that you still love your hair despite being put down by family and peers. Black women still experience so much hate for just being ourselves. 💜
Natural hair is way prettier than wigs
That is self hate
I don't know who upset me the most between the 1 talking the sh..t or the 2 laughing about it
😂😂😅
This is it! Pure facts 👏🏾
Dear, this is the part that don't make sense, they put so much effort into another person's hair but say theirs is too 'time consuming'. Like what!
Make it make sense 🤯
THIS IS THE ONE! 💯
4C hair is exclusive for a reason.
All i feel for these girls is pity.
Honestly
The hell⁉️
My sentiments exactly 🤷🏾♀️
I don't wear full on wigs... I have worn a wig piece before and I've worn braided extensions... YEARS AGO. That is pure nonsense that she is talking. She has NO self-esteem as she tries to tell everyone that the hair that is naturally grown out of her head is something awful. She's got issues with herself.
Right theres nothing wrong with those switch ups but you have to love the hair that grows out your own scalp.
Its the self hatred. And the excuses we make to ourselves... I guess i always thought the blacks outside the US had more love for themselces since their culture was left more intact. 😢 i guess not.
No not at all. There’s colorism, tribalism, all the isms sadly. Slavery really did a number on us all unfortunately 🥲
Natural hair is versatile
It is indeed!
What lipstick have you for on? ❤
It’s this lipstick www.superdrug.com/make-up/lips/lipstick/bourjois-rouge-velvet-the-lipstick-05-brique-a-brac/p/741114
Bought it in a whim but it’s literally the best. Goes on creamy, dries Matte and lasts all day even after eating and reapplying
Didn't you see that there's so much jealousy in that interview? They're actually jealous.
3 words. PICK ME HEFFER!!!
Very nice natural hair
Thank you ☺️
If she would of said something like our hair is our crown and because of who we are as melanin people our hair holds so much power that everyone shouldnt see it.
Sad to hear this from a black woman
Very sad honestly 😭
that wig is a choice
Her cheap smelly wig has nothing on our beautiful natural hair. Suits all occasions and outfits as long as you love it❤ its you who makes your hair worth it😂 she hate her hair and wants to put it on us...naw some of us have invested in our hair and love it!! Its a gift from God, I adore my hair and I love God for making me beautifully different ❤
Her heart is cold how dare here..what an insult.. lady let sleeping dogs lie..stop the control..
Very nice
Thanks
There is no way she wears expensive anything.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I personally believe if you don’t like the hair that God gave you, you are criticizing God.
🎯
this is so sad honestly
Listen...our hair is not a different type texture...it is the texture...the first ever found on earth...hair of lambs wool.
Yesssss 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Wearing a wig feels so dirty, stuffy, unnatural and just fake. It helps in getting opportunitues in this racist world but once you make the money, it should be totally discarded. There is no type of hair as beautiful as black AFRICAN hair. Its just simply amazing. A wonder of nature.
Definitely agree especially with the stuffy 😮💨
I don’t like stupid people.
Hokay 😂😂😂 she needs to stop.
I knew the Africans would deal with them.
Woooow 😢😢 this is really sad and absolutely self hate to be honest, I don't even know what to say maybe "brainwashed"? No idea.....🫣🙆🤦
Yeah very sad indeed
