I don't have pack rats where I live. They seem like a pretty affable animal.
Decent pets, calm, smart, affectionate, but they don't live very long.

Hello Shawn, I bought this exact same trap back in 2015-ish. I caught a rat but that mfker chew through the plastic and escaped 😂
Been watching you for a long time Sir! I even bought one of the dunk style traps and a Silent Runner for a few of the little buggers I ended up keeping lol

It's not that bad, I promise. The risk goes up with interaction, for sure, but it's not hard to spot when critters are acting outside their normal "range". He's not licking his fingers after handling the things...
It was cute. You don't need gloves when handling cute animals. That's the rule.

Not destructive? FFS, they have done millions upon millions in damage in the 20 years since they arrived in eastern KS to vehicles alone, you have to leave hoods up to try to make them feel less secure to even keep them from moving in on an engine and chewing up all the wiring, they have destroyed tens of thousands of vehicles.....
I'm pretty sure packrats are native there. Are you thinking of the invasive European rats? It also doesn't help that car manufacturers somehow thought it was a good idea to insulate a lot of wires with soy, what with that being something that rats and other animals eat.

I wouldn't use this trap as it's a live trap & I want them dead but IF You want them alive... It worked Great!
OP is saying it's not humane without ventilation. Some humans don't like to cause suffering.
it had ventilation... it is not air or water tight.
That was the condensation as the animal was breathing.
It is a small area where it is not expected to keep the animal for weeks at a time; just an over night stay.
Man, I bought a trap from Rinnie, says it was delivered but no one knows where it is... So lame.
That would be the fault of the PO or amazon etc... Not the vendor
