I'm glad the video was helpful! If you are Interested about mining in 1.18, I have a tutorial on how to get every ore here :) ua-cam.com/video/xG6qKPcfZrM/v-deo.html
This was the exact tool I was looking for. Amulet was too slow, and I wasn't about to go through the MCA files and have to search for the right regions. This is such a fast tool.
Just reset all of the chunks in my current world except for the ones around my base and my witch farm. I now have a GIANT frozen ocean biome by my base with a ton of ice, it's amazing!
Thank you soooo much! I was considering starting a whole new survival world because all my chunks were corrupted from a while back and this completely saved it. Massive thank you!!
@@vale4364 the new chunks might regenerate ok but if you type /seed and it comes out as [0] your world is corrupted. Simply deleting the corrupted chunks and trying to regenerate them will not fix this issue. The only option is to create a new world (using the same seed) and transfer over items using something like NBTExplorer. Then use this tool to transfer over builds/farms etc. Hope this helps! :)
I thought I'd point out that you can use the slider in the top right corner to hide the top off your world and see what lies beneath. Very useful in the nether.

This was really helpful. Thank you. I did this on my main save, and it worked just fine. Takes a minute when you relaunch the game as it has to regenerate and render the deleted chunks...
Great tutorial. Exactly what I needed. I was nervous to attempt this. Dont forget to tell people to backup their world before attempting. 👍 I take it we should the 1.17.1 version to prune and the nupdate the world afterwards?
Oh my gosh I was using another program and it took so long to render the chunks to work on them. The program you have recommended just feels official and your tutorial was perfect for getting started, thank you so much for saving me so much time! :-D

I've installed a mod called Fossils and Archeolgy in my existing world and I new I needed to reset the chuncks I've been before in order for me to find its new "ore" (fossil) underground. So I put some wools around my house and farm and made exactly like you showed in the video, and it worked :)
Excellent demonstration. Straight to the point, which is something I super appreciate. Does time inhabited mean time players have spent _inside_ the chunk, or time it's been visible to players?
Just how safe is MCA Selector? I have a feeling that there’s probably nothing to worry about but I want to have a good idea of what I’m downloading beforehand.
Thank you for this - really helpful. I was just about to start messing around with the region files like I did before 1.17 came out - and that was a bit of a pain for the brain. :)
@@Eyecraftmc tried it out and you can select what you want to keep and then use the menu to invert your selection. For example: select your base. Then invert and delete the selection. That way you delete the entire world except your base.

really nice tutorial but i have question is there an option that allows you to select the chunks u wanna keep and remove the rest? (instead of selecting chunks u wanna remove) also is there a way to do same with the nether and end dimensions?
Answer to first question: Yes just zoom out and highlight everything then just right click on everything you want to keep. Answer to second question: When selecting a world on the program you will first be given the choice to choose between dim1 dim-1 or the name of your world (which is the overworld dimension) dim1 is the end dimension and dim-1 is the nether. Hope that helps!
I wonder if there are programs to regenerate vertical chunks. For example, 1.18 will probably leave a void below y0 in older worlds. A existing chunks still have a bedrock layer from y0-y5, i'd really like to add 1.18 features to existing chunks and remove that layer of bedrock and regen chunks below.
That is a good question. I know that there is not a program for that as far as I know but, the developers of Minecraft have hinted that they may implement that as an option when upgrading a world to 1.18
I have a server that actually had it's seed changed somehow. Probably when I was experimenting with a mod. Now all the new chunks are loading from another seed and none of the stronghold locations, etc. are where they are supposed to be. I am going to trim everything but the central part, change the seed back to what it is supposed to be, then see what happens. Should be super easy.
I have a question... Say, I've created a Minecraft world in 1.18 and I don't like the world. Then I update the world to 1.19 and reset the chunks. Will there be new biomes in the newly generated chunks, or will it be the same as the world was created in 1.18?
Realise this was posted some time ago but hoping you can help me out mate: I've recently used the editor and gotta say, worked a treat! Only now running the world I'll get a full on JDK Crash after a few minutes with the error -805306369, any chance you know what's doing it? Big thanks in advance as this is a friend's Realm world I'm trimming down to host myself :D
Small question here, what happens if you trim the chunks and the biome has changed because of a recent update to world biomes? Does the chunks regen into the newest biome or do they get recreated in the older biome? Also could you point me to a tutorial on how to save your world before I try this?
They will be regenerated to the new biome, but you may get weird things like all of the animals that were inhabiting the land are now swimming in the ocean. At least the new chunk blending means you now have smooth blending between old and new chunks.
what if you want to reset everything below ground, but want to keep everything that is above ground? If there is a difference in a chunks biome between older and a newer version of minecraft, will the biome be set by the things that are below ground, or is the biome going to change only below ground if you can reset only the portion of the chunk, that is below ground? Like lets say that, that I have a chunk, that is loaded in the older version of minecraft and there is a flower forest in that chunk. Now I reset the whole chunk and the biome changes to desert. What if I have a building on the ground on the chunk, and I don't wanna lose it, so I reset the biome only under the building (if that is even possible). Will the whole chunk become desert, or will the part that is under te building only become desert?
what if I did this with modded minecraft. Im wanting to add biomes o plently to my world. If I delete chunks then add the mod and load up my world. would that do anything?
is it possible to just make an exactly the same world with the same seed in the newer version, go to the chunk to load them and then copy and paste the chunk files?
My game kept crashing in my main world because I converted to a snapshot and converted back to the stable version... I hope this fixes my issue because it was crashing when generating a "biome before a biome existed" or something haha
I tried this today so i could get new generation above ground with the 1.18 release but for some reason all the above ground chunks are the same yet most if not all of the cave chunks are new?? I just wanted the new generation closer to my base since ive explored a bit around. Any way to fix that?
Hmm, that is certainly strange, is the overworld terrain exactly the same? or just similar biomes, because the seed you are playing in could look similar in both versions.
@@Eyecraftmc its the same overworld. I put the seed into another world and teleported to the same coords and the biome was completely different with different terrain generation. But on my old world where i have everything after deleting chunks the world generated the exact same above ground. no clue why
