I’ll soon become a PhD holder - I hope I overcome this. My stammering has caused me several opportunities and given me several self image issues.

@@DebbieinNHyeah I said she was, not currently. As stutterers we can identify stutterers even if they didn't really stutter. In the treatment we practice how to pause and breathe when we feel we are about to stutter. She applied the method perfectly

Hormone dopamine is also affects stuttering a lot, if we stimulate ourselves too much with excitement then our body produces a high level of dopamine and at the same time produces adrenaline and noradrenaline, and both of them make people feel intense and they start to Sutter. The first two steps are what people should do to start to work out to increase the production of serotonin or to fasting, and both ways will increase the production of serotonin in the body. Second thing is to avoid starch because bad carbs make our gut uncomfortable and drink probiotics to return back bacteria balance in your stomach,After you apply these steps in your life you will see big changes with sutter

Diet changes may or may not be good for people, but stuttering is neurological in nature. It is not caused by the speaker feeling "intense" or nervous. People who stutter can be completely relaxed and still stutter. However, stutterers may develop anticipatory anxiety or discomfort when speaking due to past experiences of social penalty after stuttering. Want to help people who stutter? Listen patiently, maintain normal eye contact, and react to the stutter/struggle as little as possible. Don't finish their sentences. The person will eventually finish what they want to say. The stuttering itself is not the problem - it just takes a little longer to get words out. The problem is negative reactions to stuttering, both in the listener and for the person themselves.

Speech therapist here, I have clients who are very hurt by this idea that they have to "overcome" their stutter. Wondering if there's a better way to discuss this that allows people to have stuttering be a part of their identify with this option of treatment if they wish to experience fluency and reduce secondary effects. Just a thought.

For me, its a matter of control. Either my stutter is controlling me or I’m controlling it. I think that’s the main issue. I think this new view of acceptance is just a excuse for not be willing to put the work in to change what obviously does not work. If a person is not accountable for themselves, and have no self discipline and self control then forget it , they will accomplish nothing in there life. Mindset, skills, tools, daily work, courage, overcoming yourself, is the key. If they want it bad enough, they will do whatever it takes. Its a huge mind game we play with ourselves.

Lee Lovetts’ “How to Stop Stuttering & Love Speaking” will help improve your speech if you diligently immerse yourself in his book and WSSA program. I and countless others have found great success with it.

Just to be transparent, Lee Lovett's methods are mainly ways to avoid stuttering completely by doing thing such as changing words, skipping over a feared sound, speaking slowly, spelling a word instead of saying it, etc. His methods will help you become a better covert stutterer, but don't address the underlying negative beliefs and feelings about stuttering. It's not for everyone, and can be harmful to some.

@@DebbieinNHDisagree. I found his methods to be more beneficial to me than my speech therapist. My speech therapist didn’t help at all, but with Lee’s I saw immediate success. All those things you said yes I did at first because in order to stop stuttering you can’t hear yourself stutter and his methods 1, 4, 8 worked like a charm. Now that I developed a fluency pattern I no longer use his methods as much as I did at the start.
I’ll forever be grateful for his books and program because it helped me stopped stuttering, but the greatest thing I took from it was daily mind training. I used to be a slight negative person because of my speech difficulties, but with mind training I no longer think the worse of myself because our thoughts become our reality and our reality becomes who we are as a person.
