A review of the Master Grade RGM-79 GM version 2.0 from the original anime series Mobile Suit Gundam (MSG 0079).
This is review number 30. Kind of a big mile stone I think. I didn't think I'd do more than 2-3 of these, but they've been fun little editing exercises.
Anyway, -- Production Notes for My Future Self to Look Over! --
This review had a ton going on...
- First off, everything was broken up because of these re-uploads. It was a whole copyright situation with the music, that had me re-uploading a bunch of older reviews, but with newer music. You can still hear the old music on older videos I never got around to updating. Anyway, while I swapped the music out, I decided to also re-edit much of those older videos, just because I had the opportunity. I did 6-7 re-uploads before I started on this.
- I took quite a few gaps in getting this footage because I had a photography gig and classes starting up. I made a dedicated section of my room for these reviews though, so it wasn’t too hard to jump back into it.
- Still learning this new Canon 6D MkII. I realized I could set the color temp to an exact number, so no more white balancing (!!!)
- The big one was the realization that I’m using the lowest bitrate tier for video recording on this camera. Unfortunately, I didn’t find out until after I shot all this footage. Thankfully this low tier bitrate is about the same as my previous camera (100D) at it’s highest bitrate tier. So yeah, kinda got lucky there, it looks about the same as before lol. Expect some higher quality footage in the next review though. Not 4K or anything, but slightly better.
- I didn't do a lot of exposure adjusting with the RAW files. Kind of skimmed them and said "eh, whatever" lol
- My viewfinder also was slightly out of focus when I got still images. Thankfully the auto focus made up for it in most cases, but still there are a few shots that are a little blurry.
- Editing this build section was stupid lol. I ranted for far too long in the beginning and didn’t have nearly the footage of inner frame to cover it. Lesson learned, less ranting or more footage. One or the other.
- Didn't include a lot of references to other kits, kinda forgot, but whatever

Yeah, I guess its just that popular of a kit, or bandai is just focusing on other things. I dunno. Really wish I could get my hands on my favorite grunt of all time but oh well.
I hope you snagged it with the recent reprint! My local shop had a bunch of them in the fall!

I haven't build this GM but I have build the GM Sniper Custom and it's pretty similar, uses almost the same inner frame, except for the core block and other parts, so has good torso articulación and it has a mix between modern and classic GM appearance, and a lot of accessories. I recommend it
I'm looking forward to it arriving in the mail and putting it together!

The best OG gm ever just a gm but its amazing for a gym so customizable

One thing that the pseudo-core block does is it allows you to mix top and bottom with any kit that has the UC Core fighter, like the Guntank, Guncannon, and the RX-78-2

Honestly. It’s just a slight difference but somehow I prefer the shape of the head of the 1.0 over the 2.0.

Question. I bought this kit but the legs around the hip area keep popping out when I try to pose it. Any ideas or advice on how to fix it or make it less loose?
Did you push it in all the way until you heard a click?
@@gideonthangcin8179 they feel loose if anything. I try to pick him up and then they dangle and then pop off.

At this point I need to pick this up, I'm a bit disappointed it doesn't come with the bullpup machine gun but I have a spare from my GM command space type I know will look excellent for this kit! If you want a recommendation for an mg to build and review, I'd recommend the strike freedom, I don't have it myself but it'd be nice to see your review style for such a kit and see if it's up to snuff

I never liked the GM being a cyanish white color. I honestly prefer the GM being an off white from the Gundam's white color.

Where do you tend to buy your kits from?
I used to go to Hobbylink, but more and more Amazon is getting really cheap and with Prime shipping. But when I can, there's a local hobby shop nearby I try to support. Thanks for asking.
I've shopped from HLJ, the other online one I have used was Amiami. To me it's only worth it if I'm buying a few kits at once (... Which I rarely do) to make the price of shipping worth it. Same tho, I've just started hunting in my local hobby shops. Higher Mark up on price tag, but on single kits it's usually cheaper still when comparing online with shipping included.
In SoCal we have a few options, Robots 4 Less in Fullerton, Tokyo lifestyle (a couple of locations), Anime jungle in Little Tokyo, and Neo Happy Land in China Town. Guess I should consider myself lucky.
To get more cheaper gunplas like this for 20 or 28$ go to amazon JP and use BUYEE to ship from japan to your location i mean seriously there kits are cheap as a best way since the united states cost double

Please review all Zaku 2.0
Revan Rushardi he reviewed the white ogre, which is a recolor of the base mold for all Zakus, and addressed the differences with the HMT. No reason to do all of them when they’re basically the same kit with minor differences.
I would at least do Char's Zaku 2.0. It comes with that scissorlift that I would enjoy seeing more Zaku MG kits come with.

Any ideas on how to get extra ammo drums for the zaku machine gun in 1/100 scale? I just wish the Zaku came with a one or two extra ammo drums
I've heard that the spraygun can outdamage the gundam's beam rifles in close quarters.
The general idea is that it is essentially a sawed off shotgun- they cut corners on the parts that would allow the beams to stay together over long distances. This makes the shot 'spread' more easily... but that means it is destroying a nice thick area when you shoot it at a range where it still does effective damage.

4:56 that's where my problem is. My leg doesn't stay on when I try to do things like that. Same thing happened with my MG GM Sniper 2. Idk why.

It's funny I bought the 2.0 rx-78-2 and liked it so much I bought the g-3,the Prototype gundam,the real type,and gm2.0.

For me the 2.0 rx 78 frame is good at first but now that this frame use in all recent mg gm it's became boring to build
I’m not a fan of the proportions on this kit. It looks like it stepped out o the show, and that’s not a compliment. Plus these hands kill me, on my GM Sniper Custom they couldn’t hold up the rifle. :/
The 1.0 appearance is so much better and comes with more accessories but severely lacking in articulation
