Hello UA-camrs, In todays episode, we are taking a delightful cruise on the Ashby Canal. Where the weather is fine for a change. We will be cruising from bridge 23 (Farm Shop) to the outskirts of Hinckley. Ashby the Jack Russell puppy seems to be taking to the cut, and life on the towpath like a Duck to water.

Hello Vince, thanks for the nice and peaceful trip back down the Ashby. No locks, no rain, just a nice relaxing amble without a care in the world. Nice journey to Hinckley moor bah tat! (I know, I know) in spite of all those people leaving it. Little fellah me lad is looking good, full of energy and very curious. You make a good couple. My family let me have two naughty little kittens that have really brightened my life. I like an animal companion. Beautiful birdsong, seldom heard so many.
Haha! Ashby certainly livens up the place, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Where I live among all the birdsong, I tend not to notice it so much, until I'm editing these vids.
Lovely cruise and yes it was just like being on the back with you and Ashby. Spring has finally arrived and the canal looks great. You really have fitted into boating life very well mate. Take care.

Looked like Ashby was itching for a swim in the Ashby. I guess he doesn’t know how cold it would be.
He's never been in the water yet Timothy. But I reckon it won't take long before he falls in!
Those other boats must all be going to a good party at the other end of the canal! Weather looks good, we are just coming out of several days of rain, and it is starting to get sunny Ashby is look quite comfortable now and enjoying the cruise. Join you next time.
If I would have known that, I would have turned around and gone with them Linda haha! Even when the sun comes out here, it's still quite chilly so far. Ashby is starting to grow up a bit now, and looking like a proper boat dog. See you next time, cousin Vince!

Nice video. Spring finally, somewhere. Here in OH, USA, we had 71 degree F at end of April, and then next day it snowed. We are now down to 35 degrees F and back to the 70's at the end of the week. LONG, LONG winter here. Love the pup. I've seen others with small dogs on their narrowboats and it looks like they have a type of halter that goes all around them, with a type of handle on top so you can easily pick them up if they fall in. I believe some are even small doggie lifejackets. Take care out there. Relax and enjoy our cruises. Looking forward to your next one. Take care.
Cheers Sandi. It seems like we are all having some variable weather. As for the dog jackets, I will keep him tied on the back until he grows, then I will get him one of them. As I know there is going to be times when he jumps in haha! See you on the next trip.
Another good vid Vince, love the laid-back commentary and no gimmicks, Ashby seems to be settling in well. Friends of mine who lived aboard their boat on the Medway installed a plank for their dog, so he could walk the plank whenever he needed to.
I used to stock up at farmers shops, so I didn't have to eat out of cans and packets. Though a pie and a pint would go down well.
Take care mate and you two stay safe, one hand for the boat and for yourself, so that means both of em.

Very enjoyable trip on the back with you and Ashby especially after the bridge with the large crack in it, I thought I was going to get legged up in Ashby's lead but it was OK I didn't fancy a swim looked to cold, see you both next time for another adventure . Ps belated Happy Birthday 🎂.

Lovely cruise Vince, looks so much nicer in the sunshine. That was really busy and luckily you only met one of the boats at a bridge. Ashby looks quite content on the back with you. It’s very busy on the Ashby considering it’s still quite early in the season, must be chock-a-block during the summer! Lovely cruise Vince. I broke out of Gloucester & Sharpness about a month ago and presently moored at Wolverton (Grand Union canal). I’ve got my youngest daughter aboard with me for the weekend before I head North onto the River Trent and eventually to Ripon. Have a good one shipmate!
I think it does get a bit choca in the summer Paul! Good luck on the Trent. Think I will stick to the south for a while!

I haven't got the best quality cameras at the moment Colin. And yes I would be interested in something that improves the quality until I can get some new ones. And that is very kind of you!
