    The 2019 Yamaha Niken GT First Ride and Review is here! Is this funky 3 wheeled motorcycle from Yamaha the real deal or just an awkward novelty bike? I took this weird sport touring motorcycle out for a ride to find out.
    Thanks to RideNow Georgetown for the test ride!

    I feel like Yamaha could've and should've done much more with that dash area on this bike. So much room for activity but nothing going on up there. I actually like the way this thing looks, believe it or not, I would just hate having to pay for 1 extra tire and mount every time it needs it.

    Does this bike, thanks to the double front wheels, support itself better while standing still at a red light for example? Like for a short rider who lacks strength and experience, will the dual front wheels add more stability than a "normal" bike and make it easier to keep upright while tip-toeing on an uneven surface?

    Think it’s brilliant they made it a tourer. But really wonder how daily real world life with it would be.
    My concerns.
    Price. Hard to justify.
    No tpms I think is a huge fail on yamaha’s part. Two front wheels freak me out if 1 tire starts a rapid deflating, and how long until you catch it. how bad is that day going to be.
    Like to see how this would compare with the fjr1300a. Price for price. FJR is cheaper, seems like a better bang for the buck?. 🤔

    • @simonhughes-king8493
      @simonhughes-king8493 5 років тому

      err less bad than if you had one tyre at the front?

    • @Raptor-kc9vh
      @Raptor-kc9vh 5 років тому +1

      Simon Hughes-King see I don’t know about that. If you have ever blown a tire on a bike you know the importance of that straight line to slow it. Narrow 2 front tires. Pretty sure this is going to handle odd in that scenario. The extra correction from the odd balance I could see causing a bad day. And that’s if you caught it before it was too bad. Also wondering how long it would take to feel the issue.
      Both those front tires will make it harder to catch, feel an issue. I still think no Tpms was dumb.
      Now in theory. A rear tire blow out will be much easier to control. Like I said. Think it’s brilliant for a tourer, silly basic safety missing, and over priced in market.

      The point is that it has 50% more traction at the front. So, if you're like most bikers and get nervous about cornering fast, especially in the wet, on a regular bike, then this one gives you way more security and actual grip. Look up more vids on this bike, they go into a lot more detail on the ride, and everyone who rides it loves it.

    Let's get our physics clear, because too many reviewers are wrong here. You don't have more grip because you have 3 wheels. You have more grip because it weighs 100 lbs more just over the front wheels. The front wheels is actually more narrow then the MT-09 front tire. It does give extra room for error, if one of the wheels slips on gravel or oil though the other wheel can take up some slack.

    I bike with 2 front wheels looks extremely ugly and why have that on a bike? I’m sorry that I don’t like it but to me, the 2 front wheels just looks extremely ugly to me. Bikes have 2 wheels. That’s how it should always be. That’s a bike. 2 wheels. A trike has 2 rear wheels and one in the front. Yamaha probably wanted to do something different, and do 2 front wheels and leave 1 rear wheel. To me it looks ugly. It’s cool that they did the 2 front wheels tho. Don’t think any bike company done that.
