I have now done 16.000 km on mine on all types of weather (I do not have a car). I have been riding motorbikes for the last 45 years, I have never felt that level of safety before. I had twice the front wheels drifting while going maybe a little two hard and .... nothing, the two wheels slide together and that's it. With any other bike I would have been picking up the pieces on the road. I have had also numerous times the rear drifting in bad conditions, but nothing too dangerous. Can't wait for the Bridgestone 32 to be available to see if with better tires it is possible to push further. I understand some may have troubles with the look, but the good news is that when your ride it, you don't see it ... The ultimate bike would be a Niken with the MT10 engine and a better wind protection. Mr Yamaha, ready when you are.
Thats fantastic just watched this video of in the rain wow what a machine. I have a gilera fuoco 500. And after seeing this time I get one and trade in the gilera I ride all year round also no car. This niken looks more stable than the gilera
There really isn't a bad bike out now a days, it comes down to what was the bike used for. This test really spells out what this bike excels at. Great job.
I have owned 2 nikens. Everyone says that they want manufacturers to build something different, but then they don't buy it. I absolutely love this bike and I have owned 50+ bikes of all makes and models
Its awesome concept, I am riding in the rain and icy roads a lot and know how tense you feel in some situations but its too expensive for me, so I will have to make due with my YS 125.
I love to be different, took one out here in the UK and could not fault it......gives so much confidence it’s mental.....I have an Africa Twin, a victory sidecar outfit and a Crf250l I’m gonna have to have one of these in the garage in the near future as they are offering some good deals in the UK......great video cheers 👍🏼👍🏼
Just an addition concerning the Bridgestone 32 I have now on the bike. Much better than the 31 in wet conditions. No more driffting and in better tune with the front, I have not experienced any issues so far. I am only at 21000 km with the bike by now due to more home working than usual. Ride safe
Indeed, I've bought one, and have done 16000 miles, with a sticky rear its also a space-ship-like carver in the dry. It's fantasy motorcycling - it's cheating, (not least death). And lol yes there are probably more non wavers riding a Niken. Went to a race t5rack ride day recently on it ....of course it was brilliant (the steering effort and response speed have increased quite a lot over the miles although may have to tweak one or two of the steering heads soon) ....anyhow great vid too, thankyou.
Had the niken gt for a year and rode it like a mf. But I managed to crash it on wet roads. As crazy as the front grip is, never forget the rear tire, it‘s just as sensitive on wet roads as a normal bike. Ride safe :)
This motorcycle is simply underestimated by the ignorant and is usually only judged by its appearance. Nevertheless, this motorcycle would run better and more pleasantly with a 4 cylinder from the MT-10, for example, which would also provide a little more torque. After all, we are talking about 270 kg with a full tank (without driver). Best regards from Germany.
... I’m very worried about what people I don’t even know think ... so I’d rather crash in the wet while looking cool ...not Great review - your experience shows every time
The reason companies are starting to build these types of bikes, Aprilia is working on one of them as well, is to engage non-motorcyclists into motorcycling, to give them the much needed initial confidence to start riding, which increases the potential market for motorcyclists and higher end bikes in the futures. It is a funnel, we need more people enticed into motorcycling from the new generation, so as some of them grow in skills and preferences, they can move to other motorcycle models in the future and companies can continue selling motorcycles.
I have noticed that the front wheels throw up all the dirt etc all over the side of the bike. You will agree with me when you look at this bike the following day. Enjoyed the vid tho as always
I've ridden a couple of bikes with the Yamaha triple in them and always thought the engine felt coarse. These were group demo rides however, never really got the chance to let them rip.
You have two contact patches but not quite twice the grip if you think about it. You have two patches which can slide sideways a bit and won't be as susceptible to a pebble or gravel but you have to split the down force between those patches.
Surely you could never loose the front on this? Wouldn’t it drift like a car? Either way this gave me anxiety watching you go over those bumpy dirty roads. But I have to say I was impressed how planted it looked
Watching some of the earlier Motogeo videos it looks like your gear isn't always armoured, do you think it is a necessity on the street or does it have more of its place on track?
I liked this bike from the moment it was introduced. Two things: isn't it a bit heavy for that 850 engine? I think it would benefit from some mechanism so that it can't fall over. Then it would be suitable for the disabled. And while I'm at it, the bags should be the ones on the Tracer GT, not these zipped jobs. Illuminting video.
ı have it for 16000 km gps final speed is 200 km more than enough; fall over ıs not issue becaue this is no scooter or amateur bıke. sıde bags crap. ı made outside water proof bag. otherwise after a few rain bags inside smell awful.
@@nickcoulter973 This was something a couple of UA-camrs commented on (especially if running through cow manure that you sometimes encounter in the country), one even fitted mud flaps made from walking machine belt. It is not only rain but also what comes up from road works where the foundation is freshly whetted, that stuff attaches, builds up and hardens on your legs and boots. I'm considering mud flaps as much as I don't like the look of them. Are there things similar to handlebar boots for feet?
Loved the video 🤙🤙🤙 Im from the uk and havent ridden for 4 years but considering going on a year long plus european tour. The niken looks ideal for confidence in all weather riding. Yeah, it’s a hurdle for sure but given what Jamie has expressed here it might be an investment worthwhile for those who like ride and commute in all sorts of weather.

Having a well educated opinion about something doesn't necessarily require a financial expenditure or doing the thing. In fact having a well educated opinion about something can actually save a lot of expense and disappointment.

Everyone has been asking why when talking about the Niken. Here's the answer.
Great video. I want one now! I have been looking at sport tourers for my next bike and this one just jumped to the top of my list.

😀Obviously😀
the second time I took mine out I was hit by a thunderstorm. I never felt so secure while riding the rest of the way home.

Beautiful bike mate 👍.

Tires are nonlinear though so while you're right it's almost certainly not double it's likely more than the normal amount.

In Death Stranding, Norman Reebus, the guy with a crossbow in Walking Dead, he rides this bike under the rain and uneven terrain.
EXCELLENT REVIEW!
Honda needs to make one with the utility of the NC750X
Wondering if there's no risk of aquaplanning? Can am Spyder with same three wheel format does.
The wheels are located and behave differently than that so not really the same format
Anything will aquaplane if you achieve the right conditions for it.

Hey Jamie now you,v done a three wheeler,,, How about testing a 2 wd Rokon,,,,, should be interesting...
Forgive my silly question, but do you need to step on the floor when it stops ?
Yes. It doesn't "self-balance" or hold itself up. Even needs a sidestand. It's just a normal motorcycle but with two front wheels instead of one.
