Common question: Numerical IPG or IPG v5? Numerical IPG is the one i showed in the video, which has only 3 settings but is faster to change. IPG v5 is the old one where you screw it in. You have more potential settings, but it takes longer to change springs and change settings. I personally think the Numerical IPG settings are good enough, so I'd go with numerical for the convenience.
I left cubing for 2 years and they're already using freaking magnets and abolished the screws... Back in my day we had to actually screw the cube to tune it and had to carefully lube to avoid overshooting XD.

The GAN 356 X is incredible in my opinion. I very recently bought one from SCS with Cosmic set-up & it's the greatest puzzle I've ever touched. Buttery smooth, fast and super stable with a lovely blocky feeling. All of the different options for magnets & springs help you to find a feeling that suits you, which is nice because you wouldn't want to spend 60 bucks on a puzzle that didn't end up feeling right. Plus, it's pretty darn quiet. My GTS3M has been collecting dust since I got the 356, I prefer the extra stability and smoothness of the 356 over the raw speed of the 3M; it just suits me better. For the curious, I'm using the strongest options for springs & magnets. Overall, I think the GAN 365 X is definitely worth the money.
My cube progression: original Rubik's with no spring or corner cutting (hell cube) to the Rubik's/GAN collaboration, to the 356x. Each step was pure bliss.
I think for high end speedcubers (I am certainly not one of them), cubes like this make a great deal of sense. I completely understand why someone would want one of these cubes, and deep down inside, I probably want one of them as well. Gonna have to hang with my Yuxin Little Magic.
This seems like the perfect cube for me. I have a problem with tensioning and how precise it is and the Gan 356 X makes this so much easier. Just got this cube it is really amazing and i love how smooth it is to turn. The customistaion is great however once you have the setup you want, it becomes pointless. I would recomend this to a person who dosent mind spending £50 on a cube and wants a really nice cube.
Just got my 356 Air SM and I love it. All I have had are Rubiks brand cubes. I started on an original from the 80s, old color scheme also, blue opposite of the white. Still my best time is on that old thing. But I dont see it taking long to beat that on my new cube. IMO $60 on a cube really is not that bad in the grand scheme of things. Cubing is a pretty inexpensive hobby, $60 is alot for just a cube, but thats nothing compared to many hobbies out there. For example one tire for my mountain bike costs $60, set of brake pads, $40. So totally worth it.
Yes,I have the GAN 356 X.If you ignore the price,it is the best cube ever,excellent corner cutting,no overshooting or pops and it improved my timing from sub 30 to sub 27 in 1 day.
I can see how they are worth it and I'm not even a speed cuber. I'm just starting out. I've watch so many reviews and comparisons and can't ever recall not one person calling any of the decent speed cubes like the X Man Bells and stuff (around 15 to 20 U.S. dollar cubes) the perfect one. This one they don't like the tension, this one they don't like the corner cutting, this one they don't like the magnet strength, the list goes on and on. Most pro cubers have quite the collection looking for that perfect cube. Meanwhile a cube like this, though it can be a pain to set up with some trial and error, can be that perfect cube you've been looking for. Buy 4 20 dollar cubes looking for that perfect one you'll have spent more then the very most expensive Gan you can get. Pain in the ass to set up? Probably. Worth it though? I definitely think so.
Grimmsha72 if you do want a good starting out magnetic cube, search up Yuxin kylin v2 m, not really necessary to spend that much when that cube is 10 dollars and gets you almost the same times, but if you think you want to get the very best, for me, buying it made me enjoy solving cubes more lol
my friends have qiyi, moyu, gan cubes and they avg 2 minutes. While im over here with a fake little magic with bad corner cutting even on loose tensions and it locks up and im almost sub 13

Ik this video is old now, but it's fascinating to me because I just started cubing early this year, my first good cube was gan 11. Needless to say hardware has vastly changed in just 3 years. But I love tinkering with things. I wish i started cubing in my teens or even my 20s. Boy was I missing out being busy making poor life decisions. Thanks again for teaching me how to cube. It helps me stay sober because I need to have a properly functioning mind in order to continue improving.

I got mine when Gan first posted it for pre-order on their site, so I've had a bit of time to mess around with it. Right now my setup is Green springs at 0.6, the strongest magnets, and some weight 5 on the pieces. Seriously, it's a fantastic cube. My PB hasn't been set on it for single, but I'm far more consistent on it and I've broken my PB averages multiple times since getting the cube. I completely agree that the 354 had a great feel to it that I was hoping this cube would also have, and I'm glad to report that it's just overall a better version of the 354. I did actually order a 354 from Gan on their new Infinity setup, so I'm hoping that it also is better than the original 354.
thanks for the opinion! I think your setup matches how it is out of the box, which is a really good setup already, and I love how we can just use 0.6 to specify the tightness rather than try to describe the screw depth haha
@@JPerm Funny enough, I remember when I got my first speed cube back in like 2009 and it was an Alpha V... I put sharpie on the screw so I knew exactly how far I wanted it to be screwed into the core if I took it apart again. Having this specific number is such an awesome way to be able to share tensions with people.

I had a moyu weilong gts 2m as my main for a while then i got this cube and I was hooked. Customised it with yellow magnets with yellow springs, i got my pb under 15 seconds with this cube and my average is under 20 seconds when i was struggling to get 19 seconds with my previous main. This cube is very goood, would recommend
The gan 365 x was my main for two month and i've never having bad feeling about it,i thing that because of the numerical ipg and the changeble magnet that make the cube feel more stable but also faster in my opinion.i personally prefer the green spring set on 0.6 and the strongest magnet
I wouldn't call it a direct upgrade over the SM since it feels quite different. I certainly think it's better though. If you liked it so much then maybe you should! up to you
I'll end up getting one but theres a really good chance i wont use it, hopefully that will change, i have a habit of just grabbing my little magic and solving with that, id say 5% of my solves are done on actual 'good' cubes, i like the no magnet feature cause when i solve OH i dont like having magnets in my cube, and most of the time i prefer weaker magnets in general.

Stock option for numerical is fast had to tighten but the ges color was perfect (it comes with green pre-installed) and magnet strength was perfect! Worth the price.

I got this cube I really like but one thing that i realized after using it for a month is that the honeycomb pattern gets too much dust in and the cube becomes horrible if you don’t clean it but when you clean it you’ll feel that it’s waaaay faster and when it’s dirty the corner cut suck but if you clean it a lot you can avoid that *WARNING* DONT CLEAN THE CUBE WITH WATER Just clean the corners with tissues when the cube is assembled don’t take it apart
This is how you lube the cube Step 1: Disassembe the cube Step 2: Clean out any recent lube Step 3: Reassemble the cube Step 4: Add 1 or 2 drops of weight 4 or 5 lube. Btw it kinda feels like the GTS3M but it's alot faster. I forgot to say that that's how Feliks lubes his GAN356X

When I started cubing we were using Dayan Zhanchis and Shengshou 3x3 mods. Now looking at some of the latest cubing videos, it seems like these cubes are way over engineered. I liked cubing back in the day when it was much simpler.

But I love tinkering with things. I wish i started cubing in my teens or even my 20s. Boy was I missing out being busy making poor life decisions. Thanks again for teaching me how to cube. I saw this video a while ago and decided to get the gan X. Now I saw the video again and I agree totally with your opinion.
I recomend this cube 100%.The only downside is the price but in my opinion it's worth it.😊

I got mine when Gan first posted it for pre-order on their site, so I've had a bit of time to mess around with it.
Right now my setup is Green springs at 0.6, the strongest magnets, and some weight 5 on the pieces. Seriously, it's a fantastic cube. My PB hasn't been set on it for single, but I'm far more consistent on it and I've broken my PB averages multiple times since getting the cube. I completely agree that the 354 had a great feel to it that I was hoping this cube would also have, and I'm glad to report that it's just overall a better version of the 354.
I did actually order a 354 from Gan on their new Infinity setup, so I'm hoping that it also is better than the original 354.
thanks for the opinion! I think your setup matches how it is out of the box, which is a really good setup already, and I love how we can just use 0.6 to specify the tightness rather than try to describe the screw depth haha
@@JPerm Funny enough, I remember when I got my first speed cube back in like 2009 and it was an Alpha V... I put sharpie on the screw so I knew exactly how far I wanted it to be screwed into the core if I took it apart again. Having this specific number is such an awesome way to be able to share tensions with people.

I had a moyu weilong gts 2m as my main for a while then i got this cube and I was hooked. Customised it with yellow magnets with yellow springs, i got my pb under 15 seconds with this cube and my average is under 20 seconds when i was struggling to get 19 seconds with my previous main. This cube is very goood, would recommend

The gan 365 x was my main for two month and i've never having bad feeling about it,i thing that because of the numerical ipg and the changeble magnet that make the cube feel more stable but also faster in my opinion.i personally prefer the green spring set on 0.6 and the strongest magnet
I tried this cube at a comp a few weeks back. It was incredible. Do you think that it is worth it to upgrade from the SM? I average around 16 seconds.
I wouldn't call it a direct upgrade over the SM since it feels quite different. I certainly think it's better though. If you liked it so much then maybe you should! up to you
I'll end up getting one but theres a really good chance i wont use it, hopefully that will change, i have a habit of just grabbing my little magic and solving with that, id say 5% of my solves are done on actual 'good' cubes, i like the no magnet feature cause when i solve OH i dont like having magnets in my cube, and most of the time i prefer weaker magnets in general.

It depends if you’re serious on speedcubing, it is expensive but I have intensively trained almost every day so for me it is worth it!

Stock option for numerical is fast had to tighten but the ges color was perfect (it comes with green pre-installed) and magnet strength was perfect! Worth the price.

I got this cube I really like but one thing that i realized after using it for a month is that the honeycomb pattern gets too much dust in and the cube becomes horrible if you don’t clean it but when you clean it you’ll feel that it’s waaaay faster and when it’s dirty the corner cut suck but if you clean it a lot you can avoid that
*WARNING* DONT CLEAN THE CUBE WITH WATER
Just clean the corners with tissues when the cube is assembled don’t take it apart
This is how you lube the cube
Step 1: Disassembe the cube
Step 2: Clean out any recent lube
Step 3: Reassemble the cube
Step 4: Add 1 or 2 drops of weight 4 or 5 lube. Btw it kinda feels like the GTS3M but it's alot faster. I forgot to say that that's how Feliks lubes his GAN356X

When I started cubing we were using Dayan Zhanchis and Shengshou 3x3 mods. Now looking at some of the latest cubing videos, it seems like these cubes are way over engineered. I liked cubing back in the day when it was much simpler.

My Gan X came with the interchangeable magnets of a Gan X, but it has the core and compression system of a Gan XS.
i just got it today right after i watched your vid thanms for the review it teally helped me wiht my purchase
remember to clean those, from the inside. Hair gets stuck in it. Somehow. Found out the hard way.
You may want to get a plastic case for expensive cubes like this!
