This is one of his shows that I worked at as a stagehand at the Capitol theater in New Jersey I was literally 15 ft away off to the side of the stage watching this man perform his magic actually got to meet him during sound check and stuff like that such a good man may you rest in peace
Good for you young brother for finding some good stuff. Saw SRV 5 times. Orpheum on Beale St in Memphis, 2 times at Memphis in May, once in Nashville, and once on Mud Island in Memphis. Those were the days to be sure. He has other great stuff
Dude. You grew up in the wrong era where musicianship was at its peak. Artists learned to play their own instruments from their souls. SRV was no exception. Bands like this had to play gig after gig after gig to get themselves recognized. Stevie’s huge hands overpower the guitar. Never seen anyone do it like him. G.O.A.T.
If you haven’t check out his guitar sound check you need to check it out he is wearing a leopard coat in that one but just remember it is a sound check he dose 3 songs and they are Say What, scuttle buttin , and ain’t gonna give up on love
He was THE MAN.. I HOPE IT WASN'T THE LAST STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN REACTION.. PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW WHO THIS MAN & HIS BAND WAS.. HE WAS A GENIUS.. A HUMBLE MAN GONE WAY TO SOON!!!
A great musician surrounds themself with other great musicians. Stevie was a mostly self taught guitar player, he would listen to things other musicians had recorded on multi track systems and figure out how to do it himself with no mixing.
I’m so glad you’re appreciating this great music. Laughed out loud when you fell outta your chair when Reese went off them keyboards. Stevie only played with the best.
There are some musicians that you need a seat belt for at least the first time hearing different songs from them. SRV is def one of them! You know that by now, Pope. Well, kids always wanna learn the hard way. JK. I'm just old 😁😁
On the keyboards, the great Reece Wynans. Plays now with Joe Bonamassa.. If you haven't yet, check out some Joe. Bass player Tommy Shannon was with Johnny Winter in his younger days. Check out Edgar Winter and Johnny Winter live "Tobacco Road". Thanks for bringing the music.
@@charlescheatham179 I don’t know, but I am definitely going to check it out. Can you tell me what season or episode of Austin City Limits to which you refer? Thanks, Bert
One of my favorite SRV quotes (of which there are many) is, “I use heavy strings, tune low, play hard, and floor it. Floor it. That’s technical talk.” God Bless the soul of Stevie Ray Vaughan, he was truly a gift to us all.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats Like all the greats, Stevie took a little bit from everyone and made it his own. From his #1 influence, Albert King, to Jimi to Stevie Wonder to Jimmie Vaughan, and everyone in between, SRV made his mark on the music world. I'm still convinced he was an alien though. 👽 🤣
Ha, fun reaction man - you are an authentic guy - dude it is a REE-diculous performance - hard not to get into that. The guy on the keys is Reese Wynans - he joined as the 4th member of Double Trouble (with Stevie, Tommy Shannon on Bass, and Chris Layton on Drums) in 1985, 2 years after their big time break through and debut album "Texas Flood." This performance.... man - they are all so insane - but Stevie's rhythm guitar work - he mutes the strings like no other and has this Texas Blues circular strumming motion going - it is the pure FUNK! I dare say aside from all else he can do this is elite 'nobody else' level stuff - nah, no one touches him and its easy to overlook as he makes it cry and wail and bends notes but I love when he gets funky on the rhythm! Hard to miss on this one! The main riff of the song is sick and hard as s%&t to play. Love you sticking with SRV big time - its awesome man. You want another one that'll wreck you watch him go acoustic with a 12 string (so hard to play but surprise surprise - not so much for Stevie) "Rude Mood" live on MTV Unplugged.
Tommy Shannon on bass, Chris Layton on drums, Reece Wynans on keyboards. Very tight band. I love the intro where they add in long pauses, then come back in precisely together. They were obviously in synch with each other. SRV gets all the love (deservedly) but the rest of the band was also outstanding.
A guitar god and genius. A strong dose/blend of Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy AND his personal originality and enormous talent. Will we ever see the likes of these performers again? Or will it be robotic sounding autotuned and soulless voices”, computerized hand clap loops, and drum machines without a shred of emotion or groove that not once sounded like a real drum hit with sticks by a talented human?
It simply don't get no better than that. Holy smokes! Wow! Piano solo was unchained. Great version of my favorite SRV track. Your channel is awesome. I think you'd like some Steely Dan. You may have been there already. I'm going through your catalog.
I like ur reaction style. You listen and think. Rock comes from the Blues, which comes from the heart (except pop -hook- rock). * I discovered SRV in the late 80s on the radio. Loved his stuff but didn't know a thing about him. Imagine my surprise when I realized he's white...
You witnessed history by 1 of the all time greatest guitar players ! Died way too young ! Just think about what more he would have contributed to the rock world .!?
Great reaction thank you🙌👏‼️ I love how deeply you get him and the music that comes through him. 💙 yes Reese Wynans on piano‼️ Reese was like Stevie on the piano and brought so much to the group. In fact Reese is still out there playing music. He is the pianist for Joe Bonamasso another great blues guitarist. Check him out✌️🦋
Great review, awesome the way you react to the music. It’s great to see someone feel and express themselves with the incredible music that’s been created, especially Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and SRV. Great job, great channel!
The guy in sync with Stevie is Tommy Shannon the bass player. Keyboards is Reece Wynan and I already mentioned the drummer. All of them are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. 3 of Stevies guitars are too.
You really should check out one of the best guitar players around today, Billy Strings. His official videos are great, especially Heartbeat of America, Away From the More, and Wargasm are all good places to start. If you want to really see his virtuoso skills Turmoil and Tinfoil live from Music City Rocks is a great live performance.
I'd love for you to check out some Joe Satriani some time. He's a highly skilled guitar player who has taught quite a few other highly skilled guitar gods how to play as well. I highly recommend starting off with "Flying in a Blue Dream" (From Satriani Live), so you can compare it with some Stevie Ray Vaughn, even though they play entirely different styles. They're both definitely guitar gods though.
I enjoy seeing the younger generation enjoying real music by real musicians in hopes it will encourage them to pick up an instrument and learn to play it.😎
@@dandecastro51 l saw him every chance I got since his first version of the Steve Morse band in 1986. I saw him with Deep Purple twice and saw the reunion of the original Dregs with Andy West and Mark Sloan.
Stevie Ray was a bad mamajama!
I don't always listen to SRV but when I do, so does the entire neighborhood.
RIP, slinger. Your legacy is secure for another generation, thank God.
he is the everest tnks from brazil
We love your exposing this music to your friends

It don’t get bettter! The GOAT OF GOATS! Bass, guitar, keys and drums! That’s all!
Another first for me ...I'm only checking out your covers of Stevie, always respectful and astute! RIP Stevie ❤️
That shit was comin down!!!!!
At the 6:25 mark SRV decides one guitar isn't enough and decided to play 2 guitars at the same time, at least that's what it sounds like

You see he is the best and always will be the best don't care what anybody says it's all emotion straight from the soul
Give me goosebumps every time I see this video or any other ones from that show

Yep, SRV pretty much ripped a new hole in the space-time continuum with that performance.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats
