I actually think it is better for non native speakers to listen initially without a translation, as the translations can be very distracting to the feelings and the music. Only after a listen or two would I look up the lyrics. In some cases the lyrics are even less important once one knows the basic theme. The only exception is Coraline, which does need a careful look at the lyrics after the first listen. Also myself and a lot of other listeners are more into the music and the vibe than the exact lyrics, and this is true even in English songs. For other persons the lyrics are the most important. people can be a little different in how they take in music and poetry. The reaction is genuine and appreciated.
