The trick of using the glass or tile on top of your scale to measure and mix your ink earned a sub from me. That's ingenious! I hate mixing in the cup because you can never get all of the different colors mixed completely. Going to set myself up with that stuff this weekend.
One way to easily add small amounts of pigments when mixing custom colors is to load the pigments in individual condiment bottles. These cheap bottles can quickly and efficiently drop a small amount of a pigment drop by drop until you hit the right amount on the scale. No more dabbing with the palette knife and then removing it when you add too much. Also a quart bucket with a paddle bit with a cordless drill is amazingly fast for mixing.
Just started watching ur channel recently. I just wanted to take a moment and say as a seasoned printer, Your approach is very informational and helpful and i am glad i came across your videos.
I feel the struggle when you said that your clothes get stain and everything, when i was working on screen printing i always had to wear something that i didn't like so i wouldn't mind all the mess I miss those days working in print screening and now I'm watching ur videos to re learn again everything and start my own business 😊
Sick M8....LOKO... just wondering if any chance to get one or two Tshirt....That vibe of this video travel all the way to here NZ Aotearoa .. Excellent style... Thanks for all the content Nice DATA ..😎🤓👊🤙☠😂😂😂🥳🥳🥳🥳🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Very excited and looking forward to the next video Cam! If I could guess this correctly, this nice piece of equipment starts with letter E and ends with Y????? 🤔🤔🤔 Much love dude!
They make a clear "tape" that is pretty wide that you stick to carpet in new homes where you plan to walk. That way you don't get the new carpet dirty. That stuff works amazing to stick to glass to keep it from shattering all over. We used it to pull huge mirrors off of walls when they used liquid nails to stick them on. And, it's pretty cheap.
Do most customers come prepared with their own artwork? Or do they come to you with just an idea of what they want, leaving you to design the layout for them?
Just put the cup that can carry 1000G on the scale. Zero it out. Put the base amount. Zero it out again. Put the pigment amount and zero out before the next pigment goes in. That glass is a waste of time.
Cam didn't mention it real clearly, except at the very beginning when he was mentioning frustration "and all that shit",,, but one of the big reasons to do it this way is so that you can be very exacting with your pigments, until you got them all perfect. If you just blob them into a quart container, and make a mistake, it's a bitch (or impossible to fix) getting some of that exact color back out that you just blobbed too much in. Or sometimes the recipe gets confusing, and if you think you made a mistake, you can scrape off a whole color and re-do that one. The pigments are extremely concentrated, and the slightest bit that you are off, its shot. The pigment colors are measured in 100th of a gram increments. So, it's a nice way to not be dropping screwed up tubs of color in the trash.
It is way easier to get a good mix this way. Also less wastefull than using and throwing away plastic containers all the time. It also saves you money. Its also way cooler.
Have you ever tried lexan from home depot? Relatively inexpensive, damn sure not going to break it. Win, win, win. Until we do it again. Heath- Twisted Threads
@@Vanillagorilla7173 Unfortunately Lexan (polycarbonate plastic) scratches quite easily and would not stay completely smooth, and likely not be able to clean the pigments completely from any scratches. But... If you were very careful to use only plastic type mixing spatulas, that might just work okay. And it's cheap to buy more.
Fkn first like lool!!
Nailed it.

That’s such an awesome design! Love the colors
I've been using a glass mixing bowl with an electric mixer for a few months and it works great. I'll take a 2X please.
The back and forth with customers on colors is the biggest pain! You're right, Pantone is the way to go.
Well done and welcome back dawg
Good video Cam....
Good to see you again my dude. Now let’s talk about how I get one of those tennis ball tees! They are sick!
Great video as always, was wondering if getting an adhesive for you printing board is vital, and what would happen without it
Where do you buy all the metallic instruments that you use to remove the colors??
oh ye! Been getting in to mixing colors, this will help a lot even tho i didn't watch yet lol

Thats how we have been mixing ink for the last 8 years :) - We do it directly on a large stainles steel table.
I have some Pantone inks that I'd like to thin out and paint with. What would be a good solvent to use? Thanks in advance!
Hahaha I just got coveralls couple months ago cause I seem to get ink on every part of my torso. Better then apron. Not so good for summer tho 😐

Not selling em I give em away.
@@ThePrintLife well i would love one and would pay shipping to get one..if you have any extras
Do you prefer the pallet glue over spray tack or tape tack.
Oh yes I can't stand spray adhesive
I would wrap vinyl on the glass mane it would make it easier to clean and you won't have glass all over if you drop it 😭
that's not a bad Idea just on the bottom so it wont shatter all over the place. look at you using that brain.

Do most customers come prepared with their own artwork? Or do they come to you with just an idea of what they want, leaving you to design the layout for them?
Dope shirt

can you give the specific name/brand of that heavy gram scale?
Great video man why not use plexiglass cam? I mean doesn’t break! 🤪
Just seeing this now but why didn’t you just get plexiglass so that you wouldn’t be shattering it and cutting your fingers?
I use Miami ink
Mixing on glass lol what is this witchcraft method. Jk. Great videos bro. Where can we buy the shirts?
Yea man offset press men use to mix colors on granite or glass. Its OG AF. Also, way less wasteful.
What's wrong with mixing cups though?
Cam , your shit is always better than my shit. I guess that is why you are my guru.
Jessie still there?
He is around
Garbage Pail Kids are dope!

I think he does that before that I think this is actually better because you will be able to mix the inks better than mixing it in the tub.
