It wasn't being eaten alive.. the Eagle was removing the down feathers before tearing it apart, at the end of the video. Also the chick was clearly dead at the end, due to shock and suffocation, from the Eagle crushing it to death.
No, Birds usually don't kill anything before eating it. They don't even try. They just use their weight to keep them from escaping before just starting to eat.

You must not have seen the plethora of UA-cam videos that show otherwise. Lions, especially when converging on large prey like buffalo, don't always concern themselves with killing their prey before they eat, especially when most of the pride is present. They don't bother killing the creature, if the poor thing is unable to run away or put up a fight.
