If you can't fold the seats all the way it means you can't car camp inside. I love that I can sleep inside my jimny pretty comfortably, even with my partner. So this is a big draw back for me. Nice video.
Same and it's made in Japan not India. That there is reason enough to go for the 3 door. Plus the 5 door rear seats dont fold down flat. So you cant really do anything with that space .
@@G0tz They do fold but not completely flat like the three door and while India also produced the 3 door which is only for export, most 3 doors are made in Japan. I actually feel bad for people who bought Jimny and got an Indian made
finally saw one of these in person, honestly i didn't look any different whole moving apart from the obvious rear passenger doors.. definitely keen to get one in the near future!
Hope the aftermarket folk come up with a way to fold those rear seats flat as per the 3-door Jimny. The alternative might well be to remove the second row seats if more packing space is required.
Removing the rear seats is literally 2 mins job. There’s just one bolt which will come off and you can remove the seats and make it a flat bed literally. Used it a couple of times.
The inside of the five door jimny looks very similar to the interior of the ignis, even the driver console, the center console is redesigned though. Probably they got the inspiration from that. I can tell because I have both cars.
A five door Jimny will be an awesome mall-crawler but I have my misgivings since people will now really load it up beyond the existing minuscule loading capacity of the Jimny. The Jimny concept worked exceptionally well since it was such a tiny car - merely that the market demanded four doors does not mean it was a good idea. I have been in the market for an overlanding vehicle for some time and where the Jimny was my first choice I might just settle for a 4x4 Isuzu pickup instead due to the almost four times greater loading capacity.
6:11 I am 184 cm and I don't have this issue when I have the seat in front of me to my driving position in my 5-door, and I thought I had long femurs! Wow, dude! 😂 bless you.
Its also an i side joke between all of us on this channel, it all started when I couldn’t fit on a bus so I sat sideways for 300km’s 🤣, even if I could fit on the bus with my legs facing forward, my shoulders took up 1&1/2 seats 🤣
Very nice video! I just like the look of the 3 door more but I guess that's the case with all 3 door vs 5 door vehicles. 3 door look more unique Jimny whereas the 5-door looks a bit Jeep-ish (not necessarily a bad thing) from the side. 5 door just look a bit 'off' for me but with bigger wheels, like Optimus, the 5 door will look more the part & it will make up a bit in what it lost in the break-over angle for 4x4 purposes. Like you said, it will definitely be more practical space wise. Jealous of that better infotainment screen & it appears that you can turn of 'beeps' in the settings like seat belt out etc.
The 3 door is awesome and Im enjoying mine also, its worth noting the 5 door is much easier to get into the back with the doors, and you can easily store 4 small to mid sized travel bags in that boot, it will work amazing for young families, and would work well for picking up and dropping off kids at school. It is more practical for a daily in city driver who regularly carries passengers and can be used on the weekend also to hit the trails
The 5 doors not much heavier for the 1.5L but what if you use it for its intended purpose! Extra passengers and extra luggage might add up to another 200kg on top of the extra 100kg of weight the five door carries. It doesn't leave much room for mods like sliders, barwork or a roof platform if you want to set it up for 4WD trips. Really disappointed Suzuki couldn't give it a bit more power from factory..
I could be wrong but I didnt notice any ceiling AC vents behind the 2 front seats which means its gonna be hot for all passengers on the second row....you know what I mean.
@@indiaoverland2846 a snorkel itself is not enough, you need a diff breather kit, a snorkel and a certain mod on the air filter box. They are building 5 door Jimnys in India but have over priced it to be competitive in the market and have refused to sell the 3 door. The launch seem to have completely flopped with people preferring to pay more for more capable alternatives or pay less for better budget options.
Nice review, we've been test driving a few Jimnys. 3 door was to small. Did you think about waiting on the five door to come? That has been coming for a long time now and still not available in Australia. Ended up paying $5k more for a Nissan Warrior. I'll have always said Suzuki somehow. Should have got the SX4 motor into the Jimney
We liked the 5 door but personally the 3 door works perfectly for the application, to be honest, we only used the back seat twice since getting the car and now they are permanently folded down. Im making an aluminium trunk to replace the back seat, will keep all recovery gear in here.
The 5 door in India has an Axle Wrapping problem, which the manufacturer weren’t able to pinpoint the cause of grinding noise while going steep uphill in 1st gear. The noise increases with time. The power is not enough. It feels sluggish in hills. In India this 5 door Jimny is a flop.
@@febuilds what we could guess is the problem with the longer wheel base. Rest I am also eagerly awaiting if people start coming up with this problem in due course of time and the solution to it. Regards

@@febuilds Thanks, good video. What do you think of the build quality of the 5 door (do your 3 doors come from Japan?). In the videos I have seen on the 5 doors I feel I have seen some build quality issues? In one there was a distinct lack of paint in the engine compartment. I know the paint is thin in this area but a red one they showed appeared to be almost completely white on the inner wings? Also some of the interior fitting looked poor although that could have been because they were Press Mules and had already had a hard life. I wonder when someone is going to manage to import one from South Africa to the UK - send us a red one in a shipping container please :)
@@bigjimny I was given an in depth look and time with the vehicle alone, couldn’t upload everything I recorded because it was just too much footage but I think build quality is very similar to the 3 door in terms of buttons, cluster. Literally the same car, just longer. Our FE Builds Jimny was from the Japan production line. I think time will tell with regard to build quality and market demand.
I cant fathom any way that this 5 door, weighing 100kg more than the 3 door variant, wouldn't benefit from an increase in engine power/torque. My wife has the 3 door and it feels underpowered, especially on an incline. Years back I had a diesel Swift, that engine would work a treat in the Jimny.
To be honest with you, i think that engine has enough power hidden in it. Our 3 door Jimny build weighs more than other 3 doors and its got bigger heavier tyres but I leave the the others behind. Just the exhaust mod with the proper tuning will suffice, to that if you change the gearing ratios, it may have a lower top speed but it will not struggle. I think suzuki may have to meet allot of regulations and safety standards while making the cars more reliable, while still keeping it affordable and I personally think thats the problem. As I hinted in the video, It would have been nice if it had more power. Other than that its a very nice car.
@@febuilds Thank you for the thoughtful reply. However you are telling me that the engine is not adequate, without tuning/mods. Why not get it right straight from the factory. It is a great little truck in 3/5 door guise. I wouldn't be making excuses for Suzuki, they could solve the engine problem quite easily.
The 5 door has no charm. all that's necessary to do is increase Lenght of 3 door to 4000Ccms and width to 1750 cms, and height remains the same. This would be an ideal small SUV for older drivers. I sometimes think the reviewers are trying to mislead Suzuki in favour of some other British odel
In my personal opinion, I think the 5 door Jimny gives young families with two kids access to the jimny world. Yes the 3 door could do that but in terms of the practicality of picking up the kids and dropping them off at school everyday, because of the back doors, it makes it easier than the driver having to get out fold the seat down, help the child to come out and then doing the same again after school. I think both are nice and the 5 door will bring in a group of people who always wanted a jimny but didn’t get one because of the practicality of every day use. Im my opinion this is a really cool/capable station wagon.. branded as a 5 door small off roader. I think they don’t intend to stop the 3 door, they are more just giving access to people who need 5 doors and really want a jimny
