eBAY AMG Replica Wheels GOOD or BAD?

- In this video, I change out the OEM 18-inch five spoke AMG wheels on my 2004 Mercedes Benz AMG SL55 to 20-inch AMG replica wheels made in China, that I bought on eBay. Let's just say we had to make some adjustments and modifications to get the 20-inch wheels wrapped with new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires to fit and not rub. Let me know if you like the look, was this a good or bad decision? I think they look incredible and give an updated high-end look to my SL55. OMG!! spacers? $100k precision-engineered car and $2500 tires and wheels ...and then $5 spacers that space the wheels away and off from the hub where they are designed to be hub-centric! Just like a vinyl record on a record player, all automobile wheels are designed to fit precisely on the hub to spin in a perfect circle. The lug nuts do NOT center a wheel ... only the hub. I am shocked that Discount Tire would volunteer to install them unless you signed a waiver. I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut that you have had significant vibration problems ever since. Special aluminum billet spacers are machined and made to address this issue and usually require longer wheel bolts as well. The wheels looked great and transformed the car for sure ....but cheap spacers are a corner that should not have been cut.
Discount Tire was the one that sourced them, had tremendous vibration above 90, learned my lesson for sure. I am not a fan of spacers at all. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Reps or real they work just as properly. People who drive wrecklessly will destroy any wheel, drivers choose how they take care of them.

Sorry about that, I actually sold the SL55 about 6 months later to a gentlemen in Houston, went on to a new project. They road well no issues, just swapped out to hub-centric spacers for better safety once I learned more about how spacers worked. Thanks for watching.

Genesis thanks for watching, I loved the looks of the 20's, but the ride was the not that great to be honest, 18 is so much better ride. You will get the 20's curbed, it is just a matter of time. Amg badge is incorrect. The A shouldn’t be slanted on both sides. It’s a Chinese knockoff design including on the boot. Look it up

It's a better version of the badge than I've seen on other replicas. Usually the graduation in the thickness of the diagonals isn't copied
Watched this because I am thinking about eBay China replica wheels for my GLS450. Concerned about their quality.
These wheels were good quality, anything from China is hit or miss. You will need to take a leap of faith and try for the cheaper discount, or buy from a known manufacturer and pay a little higher, it is a crap shoot. The wheel I bought from eBay help up well.

Yeah, I learned a lot from this video and what the right spacers to use. Only use hub centric spacers.

Any info on where you bought these from other than eBay? They looked like a pretty good copy of the 507 Edition's wheels. Plus the badge on the rim looked like it should aswell......

replicas or OEM, they both crumble and crack when hitting a pothole. Reason, my oem 19in on C63S have buckled and cracked badly.

Real or fake all metal bends and breaks if you hit a pothole or curb
Ain’t that the truth! From these wheels I have learned it is best to have as much meat on the tire as possible while still looking good.
So after having these would you recommend them? I need new wheels pretty bad for the car but really hesitant on the replicas.

i've just bought these 20" alloys after hitting a pot hole and bending my turbine alloys on the AMG x218 shooting brake. Just got them, the back wheels fit great but when i dropped the jack on the front wheels the spring cup is sitting on the rubber. I'm at a loss. is this the same problem you had. I don't know what to do, expensive to send back, expensive to keep if i can't find a solution. My tyres are 245/30 r20's...Any help would be appreciated, tyre garages in the UK are no where near as helpful as these guys are with you.
I had to add a hub centric 1/2 inch spacer all around and then I no longer had any rubbing. If that does not pull them out enough to pull them off the spring. See if this will work. This is what worked on mine
How they last so far?
I had them for over a year before I sold the car and had no issues, but that is as long of the history I had with them.
