He was always on the TV when I was a kid, great actor.
We are watching 'Man About the House' these evenings and still loving it. Richard O'Sullivan has always been a favourite of mine, such a natural actor and handsome to boot! I never knew he was in Cleopatra though!! What a surprise!
I met him today in Brinsworth House, the actors/artists retirement home, whilst visiting a friend. He was slightly frail but very charming and appreciative of being recognised. This is a fine tribute to him and of his talent. Thank you for uploading.
It’s lovely to know. Please know he was loved all over the world. I hailed from Barbados and adored him as Dick Turpin. Such a girlhood crush☺️. A charmer I am sure . Wishing him the best ..and you as well.🙏
Nice one Edward
All the very best to everyone.
That's lovely to hear!! Wonderful to know that he's happy and comfortable where he is. 🤗🤗❤️❤️
This man was a massive part of my childhood, a true legend.
Yeah he was one of those faces that seemed to crop up regularly in the 70s
💕
I have the same sentiments. He's a significant part of the fabric of our television experience as children.
I still watch you all the time...even Dick Turpin... Richard. Thankyou. You had a great career and inspire me all the time to keep on Acting just starting at 53 again..Male Actor.
Warms my heart, and a tear to the eye, big part of my childhood, big love to this brilliant actor and man, thank you❤
Welcome:)
Lovely grew up watching him .. still watch him … reminds me of a more gentle loving caring world ..Can one visit him
As a child growing up I remember watching most of those shows, fetch back a lot of memories
Still alive at 78. I hope his final years will be high quality.
Thank you, Mark, for this fine portrait of one of my favourite actors.
💕
I saw a lovely photo on Facebook recently of Richard with Mike Yarwood who lives in the same retirement home. Both legends of TV entertainment for so manmy years.
I didn't have a dad and then I saw Richard in "Me and my Girl". Instant love🥰❤
I hope Richard reads these comments and knows how much he is still admired and remembered for his acting skills, and wonderful personality.
💕
Such a lovely tribute! Thank you, Richard, for your contributions to television.
💕
Lovely memories 😊👍
Absolutely brilliant. Thank you
Nice one Mark
Despite my being a cynical, hard-hearted, cantankerous bugger in my middle-age, this had me all teared up by the end. Used to love watching this fella as a kid.
Good to know he's still with us.
UA-cam is the closest thing to a time machine in my opinion! This just came to me very randomly on my recommendation. After watching this clip i realised life really does pass bye so so quickly, I remember watching Dick turpin and robins nest as a ten year old, Those familiar faces that we remember on our tv so well in our childhood are still around, and to see them now is to take us for a split second that time we cherished as a child! What a wonderful and amazing life Richard o Sullivan had!
💕
Richard in his many roles made my childhood worth living... Blessed Be ! to him, you and that gentleman... Thank you Richard O'Sullivan...
So sad to see him now in that house for retired actors it must have been a very bad stroke but he's left a legacy of work behind him so he cN feel very proud of that.
Thank you for being part of my Childhood!💖 UK🇬🇧
What a wonderful tribute!
Thanks Katharine
I honestly didn’t realise he done so much, what a legend.
💕
Films were very innocent & discreet through that period, that’s what I grew up with & miss today. All the actors were there for their skill not their name.😊
He was good actour love him Robbin nest so sad he suffered so much in later years😢😢
Such a beautiful child!
Nice Video and didn't realsie he had done so much as a child actor. I was lucky enough to play golf and have lunch with him in Tenerife back in the late 80's and remember him as a lovely guy.
I watched most of Richard's comedy films and skits of the 1970's being of the same generation; My brother was born the same year. I always thought Richard O'Sullivan never got the recognition he deserved.
Lovely tribute to a wonderful actor. He was my first crush when I was young.
Nice one mate
Lovely nostalgic video Mark. I’m sure Richard will be really touched by this!
Thanks! And Thanks for watching!
Man About the House was incredibly popular in the 70s. I don't think any shows get such massive audiences these days.
Many years ago I was waiting at The Eastern Counties bus station in Norwich and I noticed Richard, I spoke to him and he said he was waiting to meet his wife off the bus. He was very nice and he was very handsome with his lop-sided smile and unruly hair.
The saddest part of a brilliant long career like Richard, is getting old Thanks for the laughs friend. 😉. Man about the house is still going! !!!
Thank you Mark, that was a wonderful tribute to a great actor. I can see you put a lot of care and attention into it. I am currently watching Man about the House and loving every minute of it.
Nice one mate
Dear Richard Sullivan.
Thank you so much for so many years of great entertainment.
Childhood would never have been the same without seeing you in so many great roles! Many many thanks.
You were very good in everything you did! Hail Richard!
Thank you what a great reminder of the joy Richard brought to so many.
I grew up watching Richard, and I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve seen him in. He’s certainly not underrated by the people who’ve enjoyed his work. Thank you Richard. I will always have happy memories of you and your work ❤️
Amazing grew up watching him as well such a talent he had
Loved Robin's Nest.
Dick Turpin?
@@grannylong Also, Man about the house, Me and my girl, they were also good.
💕
I'd forgotten him .A great part of my childhood tele entertainment. Many thanks .
It is so often that the brightest lights fade all too soon. Loved his work.
Richard O’Sullivan made some great TV - Man About The House, Robin’s Nest, Dick Turpin, Me and My Girl - he was a constant feature on our TV when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s.
A great actor. No doubt about it. Man About The House was one of the all time comedy greats. Stay safe Richard
Theres only one word ! LEGEND !!
💕
Richard O'Sullivan was a very talented actor. My son met him and said what a nice guy he was.
but you never met him 😐
Much admired icon with huge talent.
As a teenager, I was given his cook book for Christmas when it was released and still occasionally refer to it.
Brilliant Actor... all round entertainer and thoroughly loved in Australia.. like so many I grew up watching in the 70s as a kid... RIP Richard never underrated in my book..just a humble man. From Alison in Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺
I've been watching all of the series of Man About the House recently, then I watched them all over again. I'll be watching them all over again soon.
Fantastic, Richard, just fantastic. As were the rest of the cast. I hope that you are in good health and good spirits. Cheers mate.
I loved Man about the House 👍🏻
I’m 50 now and this guy is a memory and a half loved him
My partner who died in 2012 was headmaster at The Corona School. He also taught Gemma Jones
Thank you Richard- I remember watching you- you filled our days and hearts- love to you xx❤️❤️
Don't no how I got here, but I used to love watching him as a kid. ❤️💯❤️
We crossed paths once, late 80's early 90's I was working in Teddington studios, the lift doors opened and he walked out, I said, oh look that's Richard and he look over his shoulder and said o'sullivan lol, I mainly remember him In Man About the House and Robins Nest.
I knew he was in a home...i myself had a full life..early retired at 50 with pension buit sem,i pro band..do i remember richard playing piano..but i hasd serious illness 2014..didnt full recover..shouted for help..relapse lasty sept..fed up being blamed for it..via wrong assumtions by strangers niw in assisted living..irs semi care but at 71 forced after relapse to settle..not walking ok..but i really identify with richard.. swo this is new..yes..wonderful life he hasd, well deserved stardom but we habe to realise..i`m glad to be alive and no doubt so is he.. thanks for putting this up..

@@carolinehickman2010💕
Remember watching him in Man About The House, Robins Nest and Me & My Girl. Also watched him in The Young Ones with Cliff. Great British Actor!!!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Super guy. God bless him!
I remember him mostly from "Man About the House" with Paula Wilcox and Sally Thomsett, all of whom were brilliant. That show was copied in the USA as "Three's Company", with different actors. It was also very successful. Richard O'Sullivan was a wonderful actor.
memories huh man about the house... robins nest ..aand now we still seeing paula wilcox in coronation street
@@buffalosowljah373 I still watch man about the house and Me and my girl.
What a gifted actor
So very sad for a man with so much tallant, thankyou for doing this tribute to him .
I have SO many memories of Richards works. Thank you so much for the fun memories
I’m 60, so for me the best memories are, Man about the House, and Robin’s Nest. But now that I’ve seen how much time his career has spanned.. and bearing in mind how hard it is for a lot of child actors to make that transition to a future career.. makes his contribution all the more remarkable, in my opinion. Thanks for posting this vid 👍
Welcome
Richard is a TV Legend. My favourite show has to be Man About The House 👍🏻👍🏻😁
A really Gifted Person
Man About the house, Robin's nest, pure joy !!!!
We all loved him. He was wonderful.
I had no idea that he was such a prolific child actor!
It was a big surprise for me as well. I loved to hate him as the slimy Bingham in Doctor in the House. He was great in Man About the House.
He was my favorite actor during my teens. Dick Turpin,,'doctors of St Swittins, ... An amazing actor!
Richard O'Sullivan always reminded me of Dudley Moore.
It brings tears to my eyes when the words under rated are mentioned.
I was born in 1968 but by the time I started watching television and saw series with this man in,
I became drawn in by his relaxed and shining way of acting.
So heart breaking to learn of his unfortunate health issues. 😢😔
Thanks for sharing mate
Loved him to bits. Glad he's being looked after. Xxx
Man about the house, happy days, never missed.
So many happy memories of all your films and TV shows. Much Loved Thank You.
Thank you for reminding me of much better times in England, I’ve always loved Richards work over the years and my favourites were Man about the House and Robins Nest….I miss those times very much…
We have all gown old together ... Richards contribution to that journey has made it so memorable, thank you 😘

💕becky
This was a trip back through my childhood and teenage years.
Good Grief 'The nuns story' and The young ones' How remarkable he really is one of our national treasures xx
WOW Cleopatra To
I saw Richard a few years ago, not far from my parents' house in Twickenham. He was a broken shadow of a man. It was very poignant to see him reduced to such a level.
I shall remember him, as the handsome comedic would-be hipster who never really cut it with his peers male and female.
Thanks for sharing mate
A wonderful actor and a truly gentle man according to a friend of mine who worked with him for some years.
Reminds me off my happy times in my life 1970s early .80s .. What a great fella Richard was
What a dude. Thank you for this.
Nice one mate
A lovely man and a true Brit.

I grew up in the late70's/early 80's and Richard was a staple of television then. You could always guarantee that if he was in it, you would get a smile.
A lovely tribute to a very talented actor who has had a very distinguished career. I didn’t know that he went out with Sally at one time or that he had a relationship with Tessa. Thank you for uploading this, it brought back many memories and thank you Richard.
Nice one Mary
I remember all these old movies used to be on the telly when we had 6 channels
What a surprise reminder this morning. A face I recognised, one who of course an actor that appeared everythere in my English Life. Yes he was great and forgotten now in the 21st century. Thanks for elightening a special moment for me too.
Richard OSullivan, a national treasure 💛🙋🏽♀️
I remember growing up watching Mr O' Sullivan on TV and in films and just watching this brought back fond memories. Wish you well Richard.
Nothing more can be said than he was an Icon
Man About The House is classic Brit TV.👍👍
So many childhood memories of Richard, great actor.
Loved this. Richard was a hugely important person in my TV childhood. Charming, charismatic and funny.
Totally agree there wasn't one dud performance in anything he did. Fond and happy memories.
@@elizabethmcdermott3853 Felt like Richard was a big brother who we admire.
