Wow! Really one of the Best Videos I've seen on UA-cam. Outstanding. We have a 92 and a 93, the 93 just went completely blank while my daughter was driving it. The 92 Goes completely blank, tap the top of the dash, comes back on, and I watch as "Sys" pop up on the screen , then disappear. It's apparent after watching this video, I need better solder and the tool that sucks the solder off the connectors on past projects!! Great job displaying patience. Looks like I'm going to be buying some things from you! Again, fantastic job!
Okay so this is extremely helpful for the specific issue I’m having but thank you so so so much for that desoldering tip about adding some fresh Rosin core. I have struggled with desoldering for a long time and that is a game changer.
Can I change the resistor for the tach without having to get something to read it? My tach shows 5000 rpm when at 2000, and is in increments of 250rpm difference. It's one of the last major things I need to fix, that I know of, but don't want to have to purchase the $600 cluster tester. its even out of stock as of writing this comment
Can you elaborate on the "manipulate" part of removing the back? Do you mean to somehow unplug it. Mine is stuck alright, and I can't see anyway to un-stick it without the risk of breaking something.
We can probably check it out same day, and depending on the issue, maybe send you home with it. Call us and set up an appointment, otherwise we might be out fishing!
My LCD does a sort of "rolling" where my speedometer freezes, and then shows every crystal lit, and then goes completely dim, and it does this very quick in rotation between each setting randomly. Would you have an idea of what that is? Also my tachometer is off to about 4000 rpm when it's idling, and under load it instantly shows redline, I assume that's the same tachometer module you replaced in this video, would I be correct?
The rolling display is a failure of one of the digital data lines A11-A17 of the wiring harness connector. I recommend resoldering the 34 connections where the wiring harness joins to the instrument panel circuit board. Clean the wiring harness connector and the LCD panel connector with contact cleaner like DeOxIt. The tach issue you describe sounds like a failure of the analog cal IC. If you need us to do the work, we can do it in about three business days.
@@bryanthompson3180 Awesome thank you for confirming my hypothesis, I think I'll end up ordering the cal IC from your store, and then soldering it all myself, as I've got the experience, just not a corvette guy haha.
No, the computer for engine control is outside of the instrument panel. The cluster is similar to a computer monitor. It shows what’s going on in a computer located outside of the IP.
Can anyone help me please? I'm in the UK and have a '91 C4, the speedo read out died and I followed your excellent video on the repair which worked a treat. Since then getting low voltage and stalling. Anybody have a pinout diagram for the connector as I suspect bad grounds, be very grateful for any assistance please.
The factory service manual from the same year Corvette is available on eBay in cd rpm format and gives you the wiring diagram for the car, as well as troubleshooting procedures, I do know for a fact that the 90-96 lcd display will not work without the ccm and another lcd module that's buried up under the dash behind the HVAC box.. at least for the 90-96 cars, the 84-89 were different.

This video is a shining example of how the internet can be used for good purposes.

Do you have upgraded panels like the lights etc
What would cause the oil pressure to be stuck on 80?

on the 1995 Instrument panel isn't there a instrument panel dimmer control to the left of the instrument panel. Can that be fixed?
Is it possible that a fault in the instrument panel can cause the car to misfire?

You said "stalling" Do you mean that the ENGINE is stalling?
Bonjour ou faire réparé closter c4 1992
THANKS VERY MUCH VERY HELPFUL
I wanna use this cluster on a project car is there a way to feed mph and fuel info to the lcd without a ccm?
You'll need the bcm from the c4, if you are using the c4 computer and bcm then yes you can get all the functions to work.
