Salvage the gorp!!! LOL! What an interesting loop! Thanks for the video! Hope we have a better snowpack this season!

That looked like a tough but rewarding trip. I tend to stress when water is scarce too.

I hope to see an eagle in the wild someday. Nice trek.

Hey man.... hope you survived the winter.... when is your 1st trip of the season? Need a Desolation Wilderness fix back here in the Philippines. Looking forward to it. Take care partner

Yeah, I need a Desolation fix too, but there is still a ton of snow up there. I'm going to go up for a day hike within a week to see what it look like, but I saw video of Gilmore Lake still completely frozen on June 16th!

Lol, I hate those cookies too. No idea how they gained such a following.

You credit Ralf Illenberger for some of your music but I don't think you've mentioned anywhere that the outro song is "Sedona" from his album of the same name.

Does your tent have guy lines? Obviously, a tent handles wind and rain better if it's pitched tight but a lot of backpackers seem to not carry guy lines or stakes for them.
Solar heating of Lake Lois and the marshy area around it can create a warm moist air mass during the day that will, under the right conditions, form a fog fall over the steep slope below it when cold air comes in over the Crystal Range from the west. This is probably what you saw as a "fog fall" on your previous trip.
Lake Fontanillis is one of my favorite areas in Desolation. I have some "secret" spots around there. There are some interesting campsites near the lakelets above the southwest shore for example.
