    We have for sale a 1974 ‘late bay’ T2 VW Camper Van with low miles in beautiful condition.
    DESCRIPTION
    The Volkswagen Type 2 first appeared in 1950s as a forward control light commercial vehicle. As one of the forerunners of the modern cargo and passenger vans the Type 2 gave rise to many competitors, although none would quite gain the same reputation or following. The T2 gained a lot of its popularity during the counterculture movement of the 1960s, and became known as the "Hippie Van".Production eventually moved to Brazil and after many years ceased in December of 2013, due to the introduction of stricter safety regulations.
    In 1967 we saw the second generation of the T2 introduced, being a 1974 model it was often called the “Late bay”. The van had lost its distinctive split front windshield and was considerably heavier than its predecessor.
    EXTERNAL
    Displaying a distinctive 2 tone paint colour this vehicle has been truly loved over its lifetime, With uniformed panels displaying a vibrant gloss shine from front to rear, With a light blue finishing to the lower and middle half and White displayed to the upper area, Along with an attached pop up giving more head space and light, Fitted with original black and silver number plates front and rear along with original headlamps and chrome bezels. Chrome fitted door mirrors sit in immaculate condition. Fitted with the later type square bumpers to the front and rear which both sit straight as intended in the distinctive White paintwork, along with retaining the original lights to the rear. This particular model also has a towbar fitted, With passenger side sliding door enabling ease of access working as VW intended.
    INTERNAL
    Up front this model retains the original floor mounted seats finished in black perforated vinyl with black stitching which are in good condition, Black fitting carpets complement around the seat areas and down into the foot wells. A crisp white metal dashboard sits beautifully with the legendary pull out dash handbrake working without fault. The dash houses deep sunk binnacles displaying manual time clock, speedometer, fuel gauge and courtesy warning lights all working as intended. Hot and cold up/down manual heater controls sits eloquently out the dash, A round double pull window wiper switch and headlamp switch sit within the dash along with a single pull hazard warning light switch, A single direction indicator arm sits under the original steering wheel. All switchgear works and displays the dedication the vehicle has been given over the years.
    In the rear of the vehicle you have a grey vinyl floor covering in lovely clean condition, Along with a themed interior of blue and grey leather seating with blue piping which is in immaculate condition throughout, With a grey headlining to match which has adjustable angled lighting above the fixed double hob gas cooker and sink, With internal storage for water and extras alike. A double bed can be made from the double seat within the rear giving flexibility, with a floor mounted table stand which can be put into place and removed as required. Has a PMS3H Power Management system fitted providing 240v, a separate hook up cables also with the vehicle. The windows all have matching blue and white polka dot curtains which run from front to rear with simple Velcro tie backs fitted.
    ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
    This model has the 1.6 litre flat four air cooled engine producing 50hp, With a recent service the vehicle runs well and drives lovely mated up to the four speed gearbox slipping into gear with ease.
    WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
    Maintaining the original steel pressed wheels in white with chrome wheel cap covers and shod in 185/R14 tyres all round with ample tread on them, With a spare brand new fitted to the front of the vehicle. Having disc calliper brakes up front and drums to the rear with vacuum assisted split braking to enable a calm safe stop.
    HISTORY FILE
    This well presentable ‘late bay’ Mk2 VW Camper Van was first registered on the 30th December 1974 and has covered just over 37000 miles from new, Being maintained fastidiously over the years which can be clearly seen on the inside and out, With still maintaining the originality. The vehicle also comes with a current MOT and will sit proudly in any VW camper enthusiast collection or if desired be used for what VW built it for.. Enjoyment and Pleasure.
