It would be nice if the bottom cover left an opening for the oil and filter, or had a smaller cover there so you don’t have to take the whole thing off

It Would be nice, but from what I have read ford puts it there for protection and noise dampening as well. But they usually get ripped off on the winter months after a few years from snow hanging on them

Note, sure the video maker knows this, the milky look under the cap is only normal if you do short trips and don’t get the engine up to temperature. If you are driving long enough to get the ICE up to temperature this should not happen! If it happen and you are doing freeway driving or drive for more than 25-30 minutes with 50/50 ICE electric use and you get this on the cap it could be coolant mixing with the oil.

Question: Do you have any idea why the original oil filter is so much smaller than the FL-910?

Who is going to check the oil leak if any as per standard procedure? Turn the ignition on, press accelerator pedal hard, engine turns of briefly. Check for leak if any ... In very cold temp, the oil cap under can turn milky.

I'm not understanding why is that square hole there? It looks like it's supposed to be covered.

So, dumb question, no need to replace any crush washer on drain plug? Thx

if you have 3000 miles on a hybrid, then you have about 1500 miles on the engine.. so you pulled it to soon

Definitely More than that… rarely went into electric mode in the winter.

Thanks for the info. I’m getting ready for the first oil change on my 23 Maverick Hybrid. It only has 3,900 miles on it and 1,750 of that was on all electric mode. The change oil soon light came on because it’s coming up on one year. I never understood why some people say not to fill the oil filter when it’s a vertical one like this. Isn’t the filter full when you take it off? By filling it before you put it back on you would have instant oil pressure when you crank it. I have heard people say you would get contaminates in it, but don’t you do the same thing when you pour the oil in a container.? Thanks

Not filling the oil filter at least a little?
