Ok so I haven't actually read the manual, but have been driving a 23 hybrid for a few months and the power gage does NOT display your % of battery being used. It is more an indication of % of total power available being output. If you're running on all electric you will see the gage stays quite low, and when you push the petal down far enough the ICE will kick on and that gauge jumps up in a direct correlation to how much gas you're giving it. Also the green area of the gage indicates how much your battery is being charged from regenerative breaking. The harder you hit the breaks the more the gage will go into the green until it goes past and into the white again on the left. If you can keep your breaking in the green for the entire stop you're capturing the maximum energy possible via regenerative breaking to recharge your battery. This is how all hybrid gauges work that I have seen.

the green bar means the battery is being charged thru one of the ways possible, I.e. Regen. braking, coasting
the 1-100% is how much combined power you can apply coming from both ICE and M/G at 100% you are using both The Gas ICE and The Electric motor. It is only using the electric energy to propel it at the start of acceleration after that first kick the ICE kicks in to add the real power, but the Electric motors are pretty much always being used to at least control the "gears" or rather mode of operation, Underdrive, sailing, overdrive, reverse( uses electric only ), regen braking, coasting, and if I'm right about the rest there is one more I don't remember. maybe maintaining a cruising speed Yeah i think thats it

@@angling_arrows I'm going in for test drives, because I cant decided between eco boost or hybrid. after understanding that the " ECVT" does not have the disgusting cons, of a "normal " belt drive CVT. The combined MPG Difference is 10 MPG 30 MPG for a fun lil turbo charged engine, 10 more mpg, for the Hybrid, Which i really fell in love with the ECVT planetary Gears. what I want to know, is if the hybrid is Just as Fun, in delivering power as the Eco boost? Does the "instant torque" from the Motor /generator make for fun acceleration even though it is not as quick as the turbocharged Eco boost?

I love the Hybrid and all the efficiency's of it and the Ecvt.
But I have never drove a turbo, and felt it make boost, nor a hybrid/ electric car. and want to know I will have fun in the Hybrid and the charm wont rub off, leaving me wanting more.

Im kind of rushed into buying a truck rn, else I would wait a month or two, for the car market is suppose to get better. So I feel more inclined to go the eco. route .

The Eco boost has its fair share, of perks, being able to be upgraded later down to road more so then the Hybrid.
With my experience, using the electric setting display on the dash screen, I noticed the power gage when it's closest to zero indicates running on electricity. Increasing the throttle toward 100% displays "Hybrid," which would indicate to me that both gas and electric are being used to power the vehicle. When slowing down or stopping, it displays "charge." Adaptive braking uses the stored energy to also recharge the battery. So when the needle is in the green, it indicates that the system is being charged without using the gas engine to do so. Indicated by the green dial that pops up on the dash with the amont of charged returned to the electrical system in % of charge returned. That's one of the reasons Hybrids get better city fuel economy and worse at highway speeds because it's using the gas engine to keep the system charged constantly. Sort of free energy. This technology has been around for years since the late 30s early 40's When General Motors EMD division equipped the 1st successful F3 Diesel locomotive road engines, which are actually diesel electric, with this same technology for braking as dynamic braking. The same electric traction motors that run the train are simply reversed to become generators to provide breaking. Hence, the cooling fans atop locomotives as it generates a lot of heat. I find myself using the amount of charge as a challenge to get 100% return every time I come to a stop. sort of like a video game. It would be good to know how much energy that was saved in relation to how much is being used to start again.
Have you seen the win win private austalian train that takes minerals from the mountains to the sea while charging the batteries and returns empty to the mines using the stored charge.

glad it helped.. just a note I made an error explaining the green Gauge on the left .. I corrected my self in next video... it's the battery regen gauge .. the more tje gaige is in the green the more charge that's being returned to your battery .. happens when slowing down and braking

I corrected it in next video . short version is when breaking the needle moves to left into the green indicating when charge is being returned to the hybrid battery
on another note I have no idea if you are down sizing or just changing to something new... but I did down size from an f150 ... and I have zero regrets.. For a modestly priced truck its awsome. Only thing I don't like is hybrid is not AWD. I'm considering gettig the gas model maverick because of this. it arrives in july so stsy tuned to see what i do ... Do depending on your needs make sure to consider lack of AWD....

I wasen't sure about this new hybrid truck but after seeing your video it sounds like something I may look into. The one thing I don't like is ford isn't offering the four wheel drive with hybrid model, to get it you have to buy a all gas engine, not electric. Good video !

Have you noticed that your truck is a different color according to the light? I saw all these photos of the Cactus Grey online and they were all different colors ranging from a cream to a blueish color. I thought it was camera filters but it's actually all those colors depending on the light! And no one is really talking about it!

I have almost zero regrets.. and the positives for out way the negatives. as for leg room I doubt you'll notice it . I'm 510 lots of room left to move sest back .. and in my seat position I've driven 200km with 3 grown men in the back sest and not to much complaining 😅

You're Canadian hybrid power gauge works differently than my US truck. Green is recharge by Regen. White is you're way into the mechanical brakes. Left of ZERO is charging. Right of ZERO is using power. If all electric the meter won't go very high at all (like no more than 10%). Above that you're using the engine. You can use both simultaneously. There's a power flow screen on the center dash that graphically shows the power flow; charging, engine, and/or ev mode.

There was a five day window when you could order a 2023 model but if you didn't order in those 5 days you have to wait for a 2024 model or pay a lot more than MSRP off the lot.
Glad you showed the dash configurator. It has almost all the settings I would choose. The only one missing is the tachometer. Not a biggie because you can display instant mpg. Can you configure a tack on your android auto/Apple car play settings? So a tachometer would be displayed on the center dash main screen?
The tach is not something I've tried. but I would think it would require your truck computer to link via wifi to your phone . so I doubt it

594 days it took for my Hybrid Maverick to arrive. So I went back and re-watched your most helpful instructional video. After 490 days, I just got my Maverick hybrid Lariat with a luxury package that rolled into the 2023 model. Maybe because it's a Lariat lux package or a 2023 model, but I do not see the "Instantaneous" fuel setting as an option. Your display looks different from mine in that yours is in four quadrants and mine is in five lines. Is there something in the Lariat Lux screen that is similar to the Instantaneous setting? This being my first hybrid vehicle, I'm curious as to when it's running in electric mode and when it is in combination mode and what percentage is electric and what is gas. Great video, by the way
Thanks for watching. I haven't seen the 2023 lariat lux.. but there were some changes in the 2023 models .. I'll see what I can find out.
Its smart because taking off from a dead start consumes the most fuel in gas engines. The electric engine gets you moving up to speed saving you fuel and then if you pass 40 mph your gas engine kicks in consuming less fuel because its already moving and moving less dead weight helps you get more mpg.

I've owned mine for a month now. Picked it up on Sept 29. It is now Nov. 16 and I've put 5000 miles on it. At 80 MPH it gets about 26 to 28 MPG. It will also do 110 MPH. Just an FYI.

Thank you for explaining when the engine is running on all ELECTRIC. I have a question about that part of the TRIP gauge: When I start my Maverick above the ELECTRIC blue word it says; ALL ELECTRIC and that stays there until I accelerate a bit...what is this telling me - the ALL ELECTRIC notice on the trip gauge?
Often when you "turn on" your engine there's enough charge in the hybrid battery that the vechile operates totally off thst battery ,, thus all eletric. but due to the very small battery for the hybrid side, as soon as you accelerate the vechilcs requires the gas engine to cut in . if you want to see how big the hybrid battery is, it's tje one under the right side of the rear seat. the battery in the engine compartment it the traditional battery .
You've got the power hybrid meter wrong. The green part is too show how efficiently you are charging the battery through regenerative braking. The other portion with the percentage points shows combined electric and engine output. Its not just battery. So you'll never go into the green when your hitting the gas. Its there to help prevent you from using the brakes too much at a given time. If it goes over then you are using your disc brakes and wasting energy that could otherwise be stored by the battery.

The light time.isnr how long the light stays on its how long when it auto dims due to another car when it comes back on
I think my vehicle is identical to yours. How do you turn on the pre-collision assist and what does the info screen look like when it is in use? I have mine set on, but I don't get notifications when I approach a vehicle.
There's no indicator to show it's turned on other than in settings menu. When it activates, there's a buzzer, and a large red warning comes on in the dash screen .. but honestly, it doesn't seem to work thst well. There's been times I thiuhjt it should sound and hasn't. others like when approaching a car parked on side of road it's had gone off. the cross traffic warning when backing out of somewhere works well and sounds an alarm .

yes you can select which screens display. the maximum number is 5 I think . Go into settings in dash and display setting click fuel
My Hybrid finally scheduled to build on May 5, ordered July 7th. As an owner of electric Leaf there is one guage/meter I have not seen on the Ford. Is there a way to check actual battery charge and capacity? My Leaf will show charge and a bar to show any diminishing of overall life of battery.
I haven't found any indicator for how much charge is actually in the battery... I'm still learning about hybrid/electric vechiles. But a guess for not having a battery Gauge is probably due to it being a non plug in hybrid. It is constantly recharging the battery via brake regeneration. The battery in the Maverick is actually quite small and the vechile switches from has to electric quite often. . I believe your leaf is 100% electric thus when batterybis dead you stop ?

@@angling_arrows - as that battery needle swings into to 0-100% side, it appears that there is a certain % threshold where the vehicle will transition from “electric powered” to driving with engine running. If it works this way, you can use that to maximize the vehicle running on electric (stay below that percentage mark) - at least when there’s nobody pushing you as you accelerate. You will see that as the temperatures get warmer that the engine runs less and less as you drive about, thus maximizing EV mode usage.

I have a Toyota Tundra 2x2 SR5 that gets 15mpg average without towing. Looking for people who traded in their full sized pickup trucks for the Maverick Hybrid…and trying to find out if they regret the downsizing.
I put aggressive 10 ply tires in my hybrid.. I drive highway. city and tow 1000 to 1500 lbs regular. 6k miles on it overall average is 26mpg I downsized from an f150 and have zero regrets.. obviously less room but price of gas I save I can still do stuff I like

Some false information here. Green on the gauge isn't for electric usage.... that is charging. The power gauge isn't just for gas or electric, it is a combination of both and can operate in this range under electric or gas.

Totally random but I am genuinely curious what accent this is. I couldn't be anymore of a US American and I struggled to understand chunks of this. I can understand accents from foreign countries more easily than this oddly enough. This must def be from somewhere North like Wisconsin or something huh?

no I don't think I said that in the video. I'll have to watch it again... but electric cuts in and out around the city.. I was averaging about 33% or 1/3 electric. At highway speed it's totally gas.. unless coasting with no accelerator

Mine does the same . I haven't seen anything. all I can think is because it's hybrid and you often don't know it's turned on maybe that why.? although when it's on the regen Guage needle is up so that would tell you the same
@@angling_arrows Yes, There is no "motor sound" to inform you that the ignition is on. So "Ready" is a quiet way of telling you that you did everything correctly, and the truck is ready to drive. Nice video!

No, that's bullshit. I was just telling my wife, and she agreed, that the Maverick seems pretty big! It's 10" shorter than the smallest F-150 and new Ranger. The Maverick is 199" long while the small trucks of the 80's and 90's were much smaller. The old 80's Ford Ranger was 176" long for example.
I don't know why you can't get a digital speed reading when you're in the trip screens. Doesn't make sense
I agree, it is strange. It may have changed. I am now driving the 2022 2L gas model with the same packages, except I added the co-pilot 360, and you can display the trip screen and speedometer at the same time .
