I've really enjoyed your channel. I'm getting back into tennis after about a 13 year absence. I've combed your channel about a racquet for the intermediate player or those players who are getting back into the game. Perhaps this could be an idea for a video.? I pulled out my old racquets and stripped the grips and clipped the strings. Would also appreciate some ideas for a good string....seems to be a lot more choices out there and it's a bit overwhelming!
Wilson Clash has more control. Pure Drive has more power and spin. Depends on what you want to focus more on. I would personally go for the pure drive because it's a more effortless experience.
Thanks!!!! Please we would love a second review even with your coach and comparing it more in depth with prior version (serves, volley, sliced etc). Great video but would love more details :))
@@vanshagarwal2362 the 2006 and 2009 were really nice too. Even the last two Pure Aero look so boring compared to the ones from 2006-2015. Babolat went forwarding technology but went backwards on the paint jobs
2012 Pure Drive is my favorite. Slick black frame and a tighter string bed in contrast to 2015 model or their FS pattern. I had not hit with the original Pure Drive but I really like the Cortex dampening component in the Pure Drive Aeropro Drive. The muted feel doesn't bother me at all. It allows me to swing more freely without being reckless. Other frames that have more "feel" and/or control oriented, I somehow struggle. Either the ball looks like a wounded duck going over the net or the ball just didn't obey. It could be a swing mechanics issue but I really enjoy hitting with PD frames. I feel like I can't go wrong with a frame giving me easy power.
My greatest racket of all time is Babolat Pure Drive Roddick GT Plus 2009-2010. But 1 hand bh racket of all time. I have to try original 1st generation now!
@@johnyang1420 I first got this model as I started playing competitively during my high school days. Adopted this one since the Aeropro Drive I owned previously wasn't getting the job done as far as serving and hitting flat/pace. Absolute brilliant racquet for hitting through your opponent from the baseline, but it was really rough on my wrist. That said, I was using a very loose semi-western grip which is probably not particularly good for the wrist anyhow. I think I once borrowed the original Pure Drive from a friend but compared to the 2009 Pure Drive Roddick + I found it a rather bland experience. It had good feel, but it doesn't even come close to the power of the Pure drive 2009 plus.
Awesome review. How does this compare with the 100, 300g 16 x 19 PURE STRIKE? Deciding if I should change rackets. :) Please advise! Thank you and keep up the good work!
My friend has a Pure Drive 2018. There's nothing wrong with it, but it has a couple of stigmas about it being a "newbie" stick since it provides a lot of free power and spin with a decent size sweet spot for being a 100in sq racquet. It's very stiff, doesn't have the greatest sense of feel to it and is pretty forgiving for people who don't have the best technique. The use of Cortex really mutes the racquet feel which is why a lot of tennis snobs frown upon it. It's one of the most popular frames for a reason. If it works for you then wield it proudly.
Hi bro, I really like to watch your video and thanks for being honest and (confusingly for me) liking every racket you mentioned. Background: I am a male newbie into tennis and I would like to buy my own racquet (no more borrowing). I tired what my friend called a costco wilson, it's so head heavy and I cannot comfortably use it. Then I tried Wilson Clash V2 and Babolat Pure Aero banana on another day, I like the pure aero more (not perfect for me yet) but I can't use the Clash V2 (it's way lighter than the pure aero 300gr). I used to play badminton back then (about 15 years ago) and of course I love using yonex for smashing, but Yonex tennis racquet is so expensive. Then I came across your review about this TR960 Precision. We have it in our local decathlon for about $118 strung but I cannot demo it for a game. I also can buy a Babolat Pure Drive 2021 (300gr 100sqin area) UNSTRUNG for $183 --> only $65 difference plus a set of string. What would you recommend me to buy for my long term (i hope) first racquet. I see many friends trade-in so many racquets and I don't plan to do that. But IF i have to trade-in my racquet, I'm pretty sure Babolat would have way easier and better resale value whereas the Artengo might not have any interest. I hope you and others here can help me deciding which racquet should I get. Thanks all
Thanks for the content. Being newer to the tennis world I’m considering getting a new “nicer racquet” for a beginner would you recommend the pure drive of the clash 100? Thanks
watchcode I would expect to see a price drop within a few weeks. Once the new version becomes readily available at the retailers, they will want to move the older version by discounting them.
I have the 2018 pure drive because my coach told me to get it to upgrade from my head tis6 and I am 14 starting high school so I need the extra power but the feel is decent but I agree it is to muted I tried a dampener and I could not even feel the ball I really like the racket but I don't think the feel is great in the next few years to upgrade my racket to another one what would you recommend for something a high school player could use with more feel and power?
Hey I have a question about stringing. When you set the tension, do you set it to that exact tension or do you lower it? When I string my rackets, the tension goes up about 10lbs so I string mine 10lbs lower than the tension I want it.
@@CoDINmyHEART yes. but lately since babolat has spaced out the string pattern a little bit on their newer models theyve been more prone to break strings so i just wanted to have an opinion on that with this newer version
The control on your shots are not so great and your strokes on the move need some work. When showing it to us, you need to demonstrate the easy power of the pure drive rather than showing your own power skills.
No offense HONESTLY. But man you don’t know how to play tennis, you have zero weight transfer on your strokes. Every move you do on the court is wrong. Simply you can’t explain how racket feels, since you play only with your hand. P.s. you are hurting yourself, I suggest that you don’t use any racket with a gram more than 260g. No hate.

Thanks for the review. How would you compare this with “banana” edition (pure aero :) ?
Between this one and Wilson's Clash 100, which one do you recommend the most for intermediate level players? Considering better control and power.
Wilson Clash has more control. Pure Drive has more power and spin. Depends on what you want to focus more on. I would personally go for the pure drive because it's a more effortless experience.
Thank you! Original Pure Drive was my racket of choice. Once they added the cortex I was done. So glad you agree the original pure drive is #1!
Indeed ! The original Pure Drive (no cortex) is the best ! I have three of them. Amazing feel, Power and control.
You mean the FSI? Dark blue?
This is the most angry/aggressive you’ve been in a video. Skip the coffee?

whats the difference between the 2020 and 2021 pure drive?

What string tension you recommend for AERO PRO DRIVE rackets?
Is this a prerecorded video because they dont have the head extreme in the back

Pure Drives have always been really stiff, lacks feel, comfort, and control. If you need the free power though, it’ll do more than enough.
