    Except for an occasional hit on the courts, I stepped away from tennis for ~ 35 years. Before buying a pair of Babolat Pure Drive 2015 racquets, I was playing with vintage Head Arthur Ashe Comp 1, 2, 3, Head Professional ("the Red Head"), and my Wilson Pro Staff and Stan Smith and Jack Kramer Autograph wooden racquets. I did a lot of research before buying my Babolats, including watching Tennis Warehouse's UA-cam play tests (Thank you!), and I think they excellent racquets.

If you like Pure Drives, you'll like this but there's nothing here to convert non-Pure Drive users. I actually preferred the Diadem Nova 100 - more comfortable, MUCH better feel, more control and slightly thinner beam yet still good power and spin.

    Hey TW, I'm trying to decide between the Pure Strike and the Pure Drive as my new racquet. I hit big first serves, have a one handed backhand, play aggressively and go for winners. I have only been able to test out the previous generation of both racquets, and both worked just fine, which isn't really helping me make my decision. Any tips?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому +1

      The Pure Strike will offer a bit more control and feel for the ball. The Pure Drive offers easier power, and has a bit stiffer feel. I guess it really comes down to personal preference. It seems like most pro players who use the Pure Drive tend to hit two handed backhands, and Dominic Thiem who has a great one-handed backhand uses a Pure Strike 98, but then again they are professionals, and it is not like you can't use a Pure Drive with a one-hander or a Pure Strike with a two hander. Troy, TW

  • @MyekalBenham

    Can't wait to give this bad boy a crack!!! So is the upgrade is kinda like the pure strike p17 to the 2019? More muted and less vibration?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому

      I guess you could put it that way, as far as this one feeling smoother on contact, and increased comfort. That said, it also feels a bit more control oriented, and we also noticed a good feel on slice, and touch shots. I was really impressed, like Zsofi, and we aren't typically Pure Drive players. However there is still the PD DNA, so for the PD fan club it should be an easy enough transition. Troy, TW

    What tension would you recommend me stringing the pure drive at with cyclone?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому +1

      Because of the more powerful, and livelier feel of the Pure Drive, we would likely go somewhere around 52 or 53 pounds. That said it is mostly personal preference, so if you don't feel comfortable going up that much you could try a couple pound increase at first. Troy, TW

    @tenniswarehouse I currently use the Pure Aero, what would be the difference between that model and this new Pure Drive? I've always been tempted to try out the Pure Drive but have stayed loyal to the Pure Aero. Lastly, which racquet would be the more maneuverable of the two? Thank you for all the great reviews!

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому +4

      Maneuverability is pretty similar, it mostly just comes down to slight difference in feel. The Pure Aero is the most spin friendly, so if you are looking to improve your topspin the most then that might be the better choice. The Pure Drive feels a bit better on flatter drive shots, but is also spin friendly, just not quite as much as the Pure Aero. Besides that the Pure Aero is a bit more flexible, and the Pure Drive is a bit more firm feeling. Troy, TW

    Hey TW people, I'm looking for some racquet advice. I use a beast 100 with a little bit of lead tape at 3 and 9, and also a warrior 107 with the same lead. I hit with a lot of topspin but I feel like my shots are a bit loopy and sit up right in opponents' sweet spot with the 100, and I can kind of drive the ball through the court better with the 107. I want another 107 but they're not easy to find. Would something like the pure drive be similar in helping me drive the ball through the court faster?

    • @tenniswarehouse

      @Jon Burlew,
      Yes, the Pure Drive 107 would be a good option especially if you're looking for a maneuverable, powerful racquet on serve. A couple others to look at might be the Dunlop FX 700 (also 107 square inches!) and the Yonex EZONE 108 -- both will also offer a solid feel and power as well as speed and spin!

    • @tenniswarehouse

      Yes, the new HTR system technology, as well as an update to the Cortex Pure Feel system. We find this update to the Pure Drive to enhance the feel, control, and stability of the racquet, while still providing the easy power, and spin it is known for. • @tenniswarehouse

      We found the comfort, and feel to be improved with this version of the Pure Drive. It feels a bit more smooth on contact compared to previous iterations. That said, it is slightly stiffer overall compared to the 2016 Pure Aero. Also, the VCORE 98 isn't the most flexible racquet, but stiffness is in the 65/66 range, so lower than the Pure Aero and Pure Drive. Troy, TW

    How would this compare to the Dunlop SX 300 Tour? If possible, ignoring the differences in weight as I'd be custimizing to my specs anyway.
    I currently have the 2021 pure drive but before totally commit, I've been recommended the Dunlop. I can't demo it where I am though so I'd have to buy it, so any thoughts on it would be appreciated.

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому +1

      If you were to match the specs for weight/swingweight, then the main difference is that the SX 300 Tour offers more comfort, better shock absorption, and a bit more controlled feel. The comfort has been enhanced on the new 2021 Pure Drive, but not quite like the 65 stiffness, and Sonic Core technology that the SX 300 Tour offers. Troy, TW

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  2 роки тому

      @vaughn biggs,
      I definitely would suggest a demo as the 'feel' between the Clash racquets is unique and will be different to the Pure Drive. The Pure Drive in the standard weight would probably be an easy transition and isn't significantly lighter to notice the difference, and the Tour can be a bit more demanding (which is less easy power). A couple others to try would be the Yonex EZONE 100, Dunlop FX 500 and even the Head Extreme MP.

      @yarustamar,
      "Better" is hard to say as each player finds they like different things and those APDs were definite favorites amongst many players. BUT the technologies have been updated for sure, and the feel has changed a bit and we definitely think it is worth getting a new racquet if you have been hitting with the same one from 10 years ago as the graphite will start to break down and some of the characteristics of the racquet will change, so yes, an update to the new Pure Aero 2023 or Pure Drive would both be solid options and fairly easy to transition to from your current APD!

For synthetic gut, Prince Lightning or Lightning Pro, or Prince Synthetic Gut Duraflex are good choices. Nope, don't go for the current Babolat frames if you suffer from arm issues. Much better options out there

      It’s a million dollar question , because if they told you the truth they would lose millions in sales. Stay clear if you value the health of your arm and shoulder !

      the reason it is not arm friendly is because its a very stiff racket with the balance point in the middle. This will help with power generation but can be really taxing on your arm/shoulder.

      @nice guy,
      We found the vibration dampening, and feel to be more comfortable than previous versions, however it is not necessarily a very comfortable in the overall spectrum of racquets. If you are searching for a very comfortable feel, then you would be better off looking toward the Prince Phantom racquets, or Head Gravity racquets, also ProKennex, and Volkl have very comfortable feeling frames. There are quite a few options out there, if you want specific recommendations, let us know your level, current racquet/string, and what you are looking for in performance compared to what you currently use. Yonex ezone 98 plus and Pure Drive 2021, which one of them will provide better spin and maneuverability?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому +1

      Of those two, the Pure Drive 2021 will. If you were comparing to the standard length EZONE 98, it would be a bit closer in terms of spin and maneuverability, but still the Pure Drive 2021. The extended length of the EZONE 98+ makes it harder to maneuver, but also more plow through, and stable feel. Troy, TW

      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому

      Pretty close between those two, in terms of stability. Main difference will be the added precision and feel of the EZONE 98, whereas the Pure Drive has a bit easier power, and is stiffer overall. Troy, TW

      @@tenniswarehouse thanks! Which do you recommend? The 16L or the 18? And what’s the difference?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому

      @@danielwilschetz1490, it depends on the racquet I am putting it in, but in an open pattern like the Pure Drive, we usually go with something around the 1.25mm. If I am putting into a really dense 18x20 pattern then sometimes we go thinner like 1.20 or 1.15mm, but then again it is all about personal preference, just like the tension. Troy, TW

      Balls to the wall comes from flying, actually. The top of the throttles in military aviation often are often round, so when you push them all the way forward you get the ‘balls to the wall’ - meaning you’re going all out.
