The best tip I was given when I was a new player was to remap the production screen to the "tab" key. Trust me, it makes a big difference.

  • @redalchemy7322

Not sure if this was mentioned, but I figured I would give two more tips:
The computer will supply materials to production buildings first if they are already on their way to the warehouse. For example if you have a clay pit and put two brick makers on the same road to the warehouse. They will supply the brick makers first if they are closer than the warehouse. This can help alleviate some bottlenecks at the warehouses as you will only have to deal with the final product. In this case bricks instead of clay and bricks at the same time. If the production buildings already have a surplus then it will go to the warehouse anyway.
When you have the opportunity make brick roads. Other than looking nicer they also extend the reach of services and make warehouse relays faster. So having some brick roads leading to the fire station for example will extent it's range making it easier to have more houses protected from fire.
    Thanks Taka for your videos!
After playing Anno 1800 and getting really lost, it's always nice to know that there is usually a Taka video that explains some convoluted mechanic that's poorly explained in game. (*cough cough* export trading in docklands)

Best videos for this game I've seen. Just bought the game with the 2023 Winter Sale on Steam and I'm sorry i didn't see this game years ago when it came out. It's the kind of game I really like being a seasoned SimCity player. Thanks for the best video instructions for this game. Appreciate all the hard work and that you've updated them recently due to more recent downloads. I especially like the tips to use custom rather than using the defaults.

  • @splank8053
    @splank8053 6 місяців тому

Loved the video! Exceptional as a no nonsense, "just get through it" guide. One thing I do differently is I build about 4-6 Lumberjack/sawmill combos on my main OW island and then about 8 of those setup in the Cape. The reasoning is, I tend to play on normal speed - expert, they don't cost resources other than tiny amounts of coins and its usable as soon as its produced, no transit buffer involved. This does two things: Allows you to fly through the initial phases and if you are heading to the Cape, NW or Arctic and you now have about 14 sawmills churning out massive wood which is the most used building material in the game I also do this with all resources up to windows to boost building speed - feeding them all into whatever island i'm slamming down at Mach speed. Once I get past the Cape and Manola boom they can be deleted but by that point you are rich and have better things to worry about. Also just a word of suggestion, the game is easier when you have time to think and solve issues and there are 4 speed settings. Go slow, we all did at one point. Happy Building!

Short and sweet intro for the beginning parts of the game. Becouse of how mutch trouble it can cause i think u should have included the problem with building the steel beams chain even if just a short mention as it is a part of the worker phase and it can wreck even a well build and stable economy if u try building it to soon.

I have never played any Anno game before and only saw very little of it on UA-cam. I did hear a lot positive about it. So a day ago I decided to basically blind buy it. Last time I blind bought a game ( ProjectZomboid ) it went really well and I got almost 300 hours on that so I feel good about blind buys and that has not changed now. Anno is such an amazing game I am mad I haven't played it earlier. I obviously made the mistake of overexpanding. I built way too much, way too quick so I am struggeling hard but I am working on fixing it. I also settled on another island and that island is doing really good thanks to my new knowledge. I got over 14 hours by now ( No, I am no jobless scrub I am on holiday ). :D

Wauw thx for this simple explanation of the game when starting.❤😅 I failed soooooo many times, its ridiculous. I never made it to artisans. And i have played already of 150 hours into this game from when i bought it. 😅
I started over so many times that it questioned my sanity and motivation of this game, but its sooo addictive to play.😂
I searched on so many forums and on UA-cam how to play this game and to find a simple explanation of how this game works. I have ADD so multitasking is a bit of a challenge for me. 😅 I get overwhelmed by all the features and menus and statistics in the game. And what i needed was a simple (keep it stupid simple) explanation of how the basics work in this game.
    Thx for that.
    I subded.

The ratios of what to build was handy. But more importantly, the supply & demand par was eye opening and something I should find.
And, more importantly again, 8:15 number of people, then workers versus farmers - oh!
Is it a bad idea to upgrade all your buildings - Will this leave you with no farmers?! I’m not convinced the console shows that stat the same way!
No idea how to move or delete stuff on console. Edit : it’s L2 on PlayStation.
The video is hard to follow because console doesn’t have the same layout.

Just spent the last bit of a steam gift card on this since it was 75% off. I haven't played a city building sim of any kind in probably 20 years, and I've avoided it because my brain gets tired from the mid-life grind but I think I'm gonna be able to unwind with this. It looks like I can play at a slow pace while I slowly learn how all the mechanics work. Modern RTS games are just way too fast and stressful looking now lol

I somehow saved my silly city.
Was suffering from layout issues, applied your 10x10 recommendation, restructured everything, moved production lines away from the center of the city,
started trading and moving goods around my islands..
went from 0.3m and 3k to now 3m with 20k, with a bank, a few investors and lots of engineers..
    thanks man!
i still made a HUGE mistake which is why im suffering a lot right now - i was not aware how important it is to take islands early and fast. (edit: i started with normal settings, in other words, i have madam satan in my campaign)
now i am forced to trade for certain goods, which are not always available.
my profit flactuates with rum... it swings up to 30%
also there is logistic issues with trading rum, it takes like 30 minutes for one round trip and people are consuming 12 (?!), so according to my calculations, i need like 12x30 = 360 rum via trades.
there is also variance.. anyway, i have not yet been able to optimize it, so there are periods of rum shortages!
my engineers seem to run on rum!
    lul

    • @TakaYouTube

The 10x10 isn't the only layout and the video is less about the layout and more about just what you need to build to advance onwards without getting stuck in the first couple of tiers.

I love your videos! this isn't related to the video, but I thought Taka or his viewers may be able to help. I have been trying to get master craftsman Franke for a while now, and nothing online has been helpful. I know about the requirements of having the full fur coat industry up and running, as well as having an item from the bronze age in a museum, but that hasn't worked on two playthroughs. I have had the quest appear in a multiplayer game, but I have no idea what caused it to activate (although I had all of those requirements met). At this point I just want to know if anyone knows the conditions for the quest, it's starting to drive me insane. Thank you

Should I bother getting the dlcs or w/e they are if I have just bought the game or am I better off just playing the base game for now. If so what should I get?

Start with the base game and get comfortable with it. You can buy Season Passes or individual DLC later and add them to your save game!

Great video, but why didn't you use your 10x10 grid?

Less about layout and more about what you need

i played manor lords before anno, i now see manor lords took lot of inspiration from anno (good thing). one thing i hate about the game is that it's straight roads only i think grids look shit, i know there's a mod but it makes ur people walk in zig zags which also looks shit

I would really like to play this game, but I can't afford it on steam. Is there any other way to get it?

you need to do luxury amentities eventually or you will be in the red even if you are making money eventually tanking economically right?

    • @TakaYouTube
      @TakaYouTube  Місяць тому

On normal difficulty no... You can technically get by without supplying any luxuries although your income will be a little tighter but you won't go into the rig unless you don't know what you're doing with your economy. On higher difficulties though you will need to supply luxuries in order to have a better balance

Hey one question, one of the main reason I stop playing this game is that there is "NO MASS DOWNGRADE KEY" back then. Is it available now?
