Even though we lost and it ultimately ended in disappointment... what a summer. I won't forget it. The furthest I've ever seen my country go at a major tournament and the togetherness after a deflating 12 months living with Covid was incredible. Well done Italy and I hope we can lift the trophy one day 🏴

I was in Iraq 05-06 with the United States Army. And after a long day of fighting we settled down with some Iraqi soldiers for a few hours. And one of the Iraqi soldiers asked me and few other US soldiers if we liked this song. Here i was thousands of miles from home in a war zone in probably one of the most dangerous places on the planet. Somebody from Iraq asked me if I know sweet Caroline. The song.

One of the most beautiful squares in Europe. In conclusion you hate each other more among you from the various regions of the UK than we do!

This was awesome. I too am from the US and did not know this took place in England. I was well aware that they love their football and I knew they can get a little crazy at times but this actually brought a tear to my eyes. Way to go!! Our brothers and sisters across the pond doing it up right. Almost makes we want to go to a football/soccer game.

@@ftroop2000 now before i make an actual comment i mean no offence. I think Englands problem is you guys are only interested in major tournaments. When you look at smaller countries, (and to be fair, countries that are more shit like my own country Ireland) they are more likely to be more interested in their team no matter the result. Of course i get mad at my countrys performance but i always come back to watch because you never know whats going to happen. English fans expect to be at the top and if england do shit, they rant and rave about “the good ol’ days of ‘66” despite the fact that most of them weren’t around for it😂. What i’m trying to say is i feel that the problem you said above is only with bigger teams. All irish games have this kind of atmosphere and most end up getting a better atmosphere as well.

This seemed hilarious to me at first given that this is a pop song from over 50 years ago, but I just realized what probably makes it so popular across cultures (aside from the bouncy melody) are the words "Hands, Touchin' hands, Reachin' out, Touching me, touchin' you".
In 2005 we drove across the United States from Cincinnati to Houston Texas. of course we made a stop in New Orleans. and as I dozed by the pool between the tall buildings, this song popped into my head. now after 17 years I remember this one every time. nice relaxing day back. Thank you very much.

This atmosphere was a bit like euro 96 all over again.
Bitterweet. In 96, the summer was real.
Water sprinklers on sun parched lawns,
long hot days, whenever England were on, there wasn't a car in the streets. Just houses/pubs full of fans as the tvs blasted out through the windows into the empty sunbaked roads.
We didnt win, but that makes the hunger even more.
When we eventually do win a tournament again, it will be red and white, and smiling happy faces, everywhere you go.
