- As a part of Cine Ink's Poetry of Dissent series, Mehtab Malhotra, a successful barrister in London and singer, recites Faiz Ahmed Faiz's most celebrated nazm 'Hum Dekhenge'.
Faiz is now being returned to us by students and everyone resisting the establishment.
Faiz lives on as a voice of resistance in its purest form.
Absolutely, Faiz is eternal.

Akkal ke dushmano 19 dec 1990 me 300000 Kashmiri pandito ko bhagaya aurato balatkar ke bench saw pe 2 tukade kiye 1100 Kashmiri pandito ko kat dala property loot li ye bolkar LAILAHA ILLALLA MOHAMADE RASULULLAH tum log inka saath de rahe ho ye lig Quran me likha GAZWA ehind karenge jinme hindustan ko islamistan,banana hai. Ye Quran me check karo. Sallo Islam history padho mughalo ki history padho. Kaha mar jati hai tym logo ki akkal?. Dharm ke aadhar par desh ka batwara hua 400000 sqkm pak8stan Islam ke naam pe hadap liya 1000000 lakh log noakhalu me kat diye. Kya ye padha hau?yaad rakgana ye wo Mohammed ki aulad hai jo Allah Mohammed musalman aur Quran ke siva kuch nahi janate.

Translation
हम देख़ेंगे
लाज़िम है कि हम भी देख़ेंगे
वो दिन के जिस का वादा है
जो लोह-ए-अज़ल में लिखा है
We shall witness
it is a given that we too shall witness
the day that has been promised
that is etched on the slate of eternity.
जब ज़ुल्म-ओ-सितम के कोह-ए-गरां
रूई की तरह उङ जायेंगे
हम महकूमों के पाऒं तले
ये धरती धङ-धङ धङकेगी
और अह्ल-ए-हकम के सर ऊपर
जब बिजली कङ-कङ कङकेगी
When the enormous mountains of tyranny and oppression
will be blown away like cotton (fiber)
when under the feet of us slaves
the earth will throb like a drum
and above the head of our masters
when thunderous lightening will rage.
जब अर्ज़-ए-ख़ुदा के काबे से
सब बुत उळवाये जायेंगे
हम अह्ले-ए-सफा मर्दूद-ए-हरम
मसनद पे बिळाये जायेंगे
सब ताज उछाले जायेंगे
सब तख़्त गिराये जायेंगे
When as per the command of God, from Kaaba
all the demigods will be evicted
we the pure who have been kept away from the sanctum
will be seated on the high seats
all the crowns will be tossed
all the thrones will be smashed.
बस नाम रहेगा अल्ला: का
जो गायब भी है हाज़िर भी
जो मंज़र भी है नाज़िर भी
उळ्ळेगा अन-अल-हक का नारा
जो मै भी हूँ और तुम भी हो
और राज करेगी ख़ल्क-ए-ख़ुदा
जो मै भी हूँ और तुम भी हो
Only name that will prevail will be that of Allah
he who even in his absence is omnipresent
he who is the face (of this world) as well as (its) overseer
slogans will be raised asserting “I am the Truth”
which I am as well as you are
and the rule shall be of the creations of god
which I am as well as you are.

This was sung beautifully.
The words of the poetry is so powerful and intense that it generates energy within a person.
The small crowd was also mesmerized and spellbound by virtue of this intense poetry.
After the original singer, this is the best version I have heard so far. Other versions, are not as accurate, but this one was spot on... good job, and a beautiful voice.

Mehtab did full justice with this excellent Nazm of Faiz.
May I take this opportunity to suggest /request Mehtab to give her beautiful voice to Iqbal's poetry ( kabhi aiy haqeeqat e muntazar..... کبھی اے حقیقت ِ منتظر نظر آ لباسِ مجاز میں).

Kamaal hai. Bhaion ye toh elites ke khilaf likhi gai nazm hai aur yahan elites hi mazey se suna rahe hain jabke inke privilege itni hai ke ghareeb ko gharibi mein aur dhansa te jaa rahe hain. Ye aalishan ghar aur resham ke ambaar is nazm ki shaan par kurey phenkne ki tarah hain. Aapko chahiye ke Allah ko yaad karein aur sada zindagi apnaein naake Faiz aur aam admi ka mazaq uraein.
