      @@scott6828 EVERYONE forgets Cecilia. Yes, she was 16 years old but that is old enough to know murder is evil. Greg Smart had never done anything bad to her but she knew about the murder plans and even searched for a gun to kill someone who had never wronged her. She could have stopped that whole thing by calling the cops but instead she tried to further. Authorities let her escape ANY punish in exchange for wearing that wire. I understand a deal might have been necessary but that deal should have put this young lady behind bars, at least for a period.

      When a person is incarcerated, taxpayers automatically support that person. Since the person must be guarded, the costs are steep. One reason for release is because it's not a productive use of hundreds of thousands of tax dollars each year.

    • @jamiestarr260
      @jamiestarr260 Рік тому

      So is the cost of tuition some sort of a tax write-off for the college? Or are we, the taxpayers, paying for an education that could otherwise go to a poor, law-abiding student? Either way, the general public is paying for her existence.

    • @denisenoe3702
      @denisenoe3702 Рік тому

      @@jamiestarr260 The taxpayer is on the hook for over half a million dollars per year to keep this woman incarcerated. Part of the reason I support her release is that I can't see paying millions more to keep her imprisoned until she takes her last breath. She's rehabilitated and would cause no harm if released. What's more, the responsibility of supporting her would revert to herself and her loved ones. LWOP means millions more spent on her.

    • @jamiestarr260
      @jamiestarr260 Рік тому +1

      Let’s say she is genuinely rehabilitated and she is released. Even with her degree, she may never get a job to completely support herself. With a quick Google search, a potential employer will see her past. So what happens? She’ll get food stamps, welfare, section 8 housing, Medicaid, and maybe even more financial aid for more degrees because she’ll be poor. Who pays for that?
      In cases of murder and child abuse, I don’t believe rehabilitation and release works. Swift capital punishment will save the country billions. It may also send the message ‘Don’t kill your husband or anyone because you’ll meet the same fate.’

    • @denisenoe3702
      @denisenoe3702 Рік тому

      @@jamiestarr260 It's not uncommon for ex-cons to immediately join the homeless population and/or live on public aid. In Smart's case, this wouldn't happen for 2 reasons: 1) People have agreed to hire the multiply degreed Pam Smart if she's released and 2) She has affluent relatives willing to take her in. Quite simply, she just wouldn't be the responsibility of the taxpayer anymore. If she serves out her sentence, she's take up several million more tax dollars.
      There ARE cases where release makes little sense. One ex-con robbed a bank, then sat down on the sidewalks to wait for her arrest. She had gone from prison to homelessness and preferred prison.
      Because so many appeals go through -- a life is being taken after all -- it costs more to execute someone than imprison for life. Pam Smart has said she would have preferred the death penalty to LWOP.

    New Hampshire needs to re-examine its laws in light of its own state constitution. An accessory to murder should be eligible for a sentence that allows for the possibility of rehabilitation. A sentence of 25 to life would have been appropriate in this case. New Hampshire only has either death of life without parole for accessory to 1st degree murder and that barbarism is unworthy of a modern society.
    In case someone mistakes me for a "bleeding heart liberal," I also believe it is outrageous that Cecilia Pearce, who searched for a gun to be used in the murder and knew of the murder plans, got off scot-free.

With the help of teenage accomplices, GB repeatedly beat the girl, twice forced her to shove a soft drink bottle up her vagina while her tormentors watched and laughed, burned the victim over 150 times with a cigarette, denied her food and water, denied her the use of a toilet, forced the child to urinate and defecate on herself, forced her to drink urine and eat feces, subjected her to scalding hot baths. When the girl was drinking a container of urine, GB and others watched and laughed. Finally, the girl (probably a virgin) was burned on her stomach with the words "I'm a prostitute and proud of it!" 3 days later, the teenager succumbed to her numerous injuries and died. But the parole board let GB go because they believed she "had changed."

    Pamela's words are such inspiration. She can be positive in this controlled environment without her freedom. She doesn't take anything for granted like we do sometimes. I think it's time to let her go free. Thirty two years is a long time to spend in prison. She didn't pull the trigger on her husband or told Billy Flynn to kill Greg Smart. Flynn killed Pam's husband on his own. The man who did it is already free. It's time to let Pamela go free. She has paid her price. God bless her heart. New Hampshire governor needs to grant Pam her clemency.

      Sad she should have thought of this before she would not be in this place

      She said it’s too bad you are judged by your worst mistake. Yeah it just so happens her worst “mistake” was to have her husband MURDERED!!! I have no mercy on Pam Smart.
      She thought she was smarter than everyone else and she found out she was mistaken. She is exactly where she needs to be for LIFE!
