Had the same issue but it was stuck open. Couldn't figure it out until a couple weeks went by and got a code for it being stuck closed. Got lucky for such a simple fix

I have a 2005 kia rio that's showing signs of this being my issue. I've put hundreds of dollars of new parts on this car (o2s, MAF, new cat, fuel pump module, TPS, coil pack), where the car starts normally, fills up the tank normally and idles (rough), but doesn't stall, when it's cold, but it warms up, it begins to hesitates-lug- and then as if it misfires badly when you give a sudden acceleration, and then appears as if it's misfiring all the way up the rpms. IT's undrivable in it's condition and dangerous if you're trying to drive it in traffic..
I was messing around with this canister solenoid valve that you were reporting on and was able to get the car to run normal again, by disconnecting the hoses, and unplugging and banging on the unit, but then it probably failed again, causing the same sluggish accelerating symptoms.
I Had autoparts person pull the code on it, which I never received what it was, and was told it was the tank close vent valve that threw the code- which was a $115-150 part. I pulled that valve near the gas tank and inspected and the valve is open while power off (I did not test with power though). I sprayed with carb cleaner and put back together.
I THEN tested this canister purge valve solenoid you're describing by putting it on a vacuum gauge up to 15-17 pounds at the solenoid's side to the engine - holding pressure - but then I run car 12 volt battery to the terminals, and there's no loud click, and the pressure is NOT being released. I've even tried the other vacuum line on the solenoid valve, which it also holds pressure, but then still doesn't open and release pressure when I power it with the car battery directly.
*this test indicates that this valve/solenoid is Bad, right?*
