This layout really is a thing of beauty now. It holds so much inspiration as my son and I are quite new to the hobby. We have locos,, rolling stock (a Hornby Thomas collection as well of course as the boy is only 3), buildings and all that sort of stuff, but no proper layout to put it on! We have to assemble the track in the living room of our small flat each time but we love it anyway. We are getting there though and channels like yours, New Junction, Minsterly and all the other amazing ones are giving me so much to think about ready for building our first layout!!! Thanks Dave.
Nice to see the ballast laid on your depot... it makes a big difference, even though at this stage it's all fresh so it hasn't had the weathering done yet. I have a technique that may interest you. Under areas where locos sit for extended periods (such as in front of the laserlines shed where your 37 and 47 sat) , you'll get a lot of oil stains. To make realistic looking oil, get some 'black wash' acrylic paint as well as a tinyt amount of purple (oil is never pure black) and mix it with Johnsons Klear floor wax. The floor wax is really shiney and will make it look like it's still wet... even though it's completely dry! You can apply the oil in the centre of the station where the DMU's sit, and at the end of the platform where locos stop. in your case, there'll be a be more oil dripped where locos wait for the 'right away' at the signal, but you'll also have less at the opposite end where the rear powercar of a HST will stop. Finally, signals are another place where oil will accumulate while a loco stops while waiting for the signal to change.
Hi Dave, I have had the pleasure of watching your videos for a number of years now and I have to say without question you never disappoint, the quality of your modelling is second to none and your layout is a great credit to you. Your attention to detail is to be admired. At 81 years I hope to enjoy your videos for many years to come. Thank you sincerely, Greg

They aren’t the usual choice of material for structures Down Under. That said, as I am on holidays in England at the moment, I will be attending the Warley Exhibition in Birmingham this weekend so I might run into you and say g’day. Regards, Brad.

Great video as ever Dave. I've been looking forward for ages now to you getting to grips with the TMD, and I have to say it is coming along brilliantly. Re. the doors of the two lane shed (and great choice of loco to open it by the way!), I think the original Everard Junction layout featured working doors on a shed. Peter Mackie i use peco flexible track, so the radius vary. Never use anything less than 2nd radius if you are using peco set track as a lot of locos won’t run on tighter curves. Flexible track gives you the chance to make the curves more flowing and realistic.
I did videos ages and ages ago which include track laying using flexible track and tracksetta track templates, which you can use to curve track to lots of difference radius’s.
Peter Mackie ua-cam.com/video/Jt1JJtWtAiY/v-deo.html shows you when I laid some track.
DaveClass47 thanks my a4 won’t run past 2nd anyway
