I just love the realism and weathering on the Esso tank rake at 2:15 .... So many modellers get it wrong by mixing different oil companies in the same wagon consist !! .... Well done.
A really awesome video, kudos to you for creating such a great layout. I would love to see a schematic of the whole layout. Was struggling to put the pieces together. :-)
The cab ride was quite enlightening. I didn't realise how large this layout actually is. From the look of things, there are many more video's to go too, which is nice!
Damn you and your incredible loft headroom! ;-) Great tour video and the cab views at the end are brilliant. I especially liked the undeveloped end of the layout which we haven't seen for a while. Cheers
God i can still remember when you first started out building this layout Dave, it has come so far since then and it is really a piece of art....amazing!!! Terry
Hi Terry, good to hear from you. I can just about remember that far back too! lol. It certainly has come a long way....still a way to go though...I am trying to finish before Bachmann charge £200 for a class 37....so better hurry lol Cheers. Dave
no not yet....but they want £144 at Hattons for a new 2019 release of a 37!! The tooling is not exactly bristling with added extras! its a rip off. The RRP for this 20 year old tooling will hit £200 within a couple of years!
Amazing!. As a Edinburgh boy this has put a massive smile on my face!. I had a train set as a boy and still have my locos but yet to jump back into the hobby. Keep up the grate work! Chris
Thanks Chris... I used to go to Edinburgh as a boy on days out, the train journey and passing Haymarket Depot and arriving into Waverley was the highlight of my day out. Cheers. Dave
@@DeanPark oh yes always a favourite of mine also!. My back garden as a boy backed onto the Edinburgh to Glasgow mainline so got everything going past but the freight trains were my favourite. I stay out in east kilbride so not much to see other than the single line into Glasgow haha
Hello Dave; I am amazed by the way your layout brings Scotland's Railways to my humble home here in the USA. Thank you so much for posting these videos. I can see the passion you have for this hobby in every installment, it's very enjoyable to watch. And by the way, the GoPro footage was very cool... Thanks again!
You are a very observant person, and a master of model making (detail, weathering, landscaping, and indeed, everything. All your trains ( maebe due to editing ) run beautifully, and you make your videos so interesting for EVERYONE. MANY THANKS . GRC.
Hi, thanks! Glad you like the details I put on the layout. Always looking to add more and get more ideas by looking at real life and online videos of real trains. I do have to edit the running shots, but all trains run smoothly and I service them and make sure they are fit to run, so usually I have no problems with the running side of things. ;-) Cheers. Dave
OMG...what a fantastic layout. Seeing it all together in one video just blows me away. Your details and finishing is simply superb. Thanks so much for posting. All the best from Western Australia😎🇦🇺👍
Great workmanship and attention to detail - I think the overall look of the layout is incredibly realistic. Whether that is down to the lighting or your camera skills is a credit to you. I think the scalescenes scenery is first class, it is inexpensive , but when applied as you have done it really impresses. Well done Dave.
Many thanks for the tour. You have made an amazing layout, even with a lot more to do. Well done Dave. I will look forward to the next update or tour. Martin. (Thailand)
Wow ! Just amazing! Been following you for a year now and this is the best video.. have always wanted to see a full itinerary of Dean Park..thank you!!👏👏👏
Excellent layout tour! I especially liked the low-angle shot around 35:10 - the loco (class 40, I think) sitting on the disused siding next to the embankment - very effective shot. The cab rides in Part 6 were fantastic! They give an entirely new perspective of your fine layout. Best, John
Just watched this video again , and I feel I have to compliment you as a model railway builder. Your woodwork skills are super, and your overall track laying and plan will never disappoint you or anyone. There is so much accurate detail that I sometimes think " Is this real life or a model " I hope you can go on developing this magical layout, so that all your viewers and friends can see how you do and create reality in miniature. Well done, David Watson ----We are proud of you. George Craw.
George Craw thanks George. I really appreciate your comment. It makes it all worth while when I get feedback like that. Very humbling. I do my own thing. I don’t copy people. It’s all Dean Park. :-)
So good to see the whole layout in one upload. It was very well presented and I like how you tell us which products you used. I knew your trackwork was good but Wow it is some of the smoothest in cab I have seen. So realistic.
I know it is a long way off yet but when you get round to the town scene it would be great to see a row of houses at the back with the gardens sloping down to the railway. It would be something unique to your railway and a great focal point on the curve when you have a GoPro running round. Great work so far. I have been watching for the last 3 years and cannot believe how much work you have done on your layout. Please start your TMD soon!
Thanks....I like that word craftsmanship - I do like to make sure my layout is very well constructed, tidy, well planned and free from bumpy rides, poorly laid track, poorly painted items and exposed wires. All these little things add up. I am not saying its perfect of course, lol....but its the best I can do. Cheers. Dave
Nice. I had to make some tea and toast to watch it. Lots of details makes it interesting to watch. I like the 1st person perspective. I use a 360 VR camera out and about and tried it when I made my Thomas layout in the summer (I haven't uploaded the videos here though but I may do). Editing the above layout detail out is a pain though.
iv been seeing this grow but until you did the video of the layout from the train cam it peaced it all together and it looks so good its hard to think its the work of one person
a very nice tour of the layout the accolade of a master of detail is well deserved it is the little things that can make the difference. you should not be in any doubt of the huge influence you have on the hobby and other modelers which of course is a good thing. for example, i watched your video on scenery and found that extremely helpful and will now allow me to avoid any expensive mistakes as i do a rebuild of my own. and this is what makes youtube community so special the people like you and the other channels so free with there ideas and a willingness to share with others .wich in turn enhances the hobby for us all. and long may it continue 😃👍👍👍

what was the Saltire livery loco in TMD on run around?

As this is set in Scotland. Why isn`t it raining?
is that just plain old bubble wrap/foil for insulating your loft? how does it fair in the summer?

It stops damp in winter and keeps heat in. In summer it gets warm, but I open the foil at the top of the roof to let hot air escape at nights etc.
