  • It was one year ago today that I started my Tacoma for the first time since tearing apart the engine and finding a severely corroded head. I did what many said was impossible, used a MIG welder to fill in the holes, surfaced it on a table saw, and did a valve job without any special tools. I'm still driving the truck to this day! No leaks, no signs of any trouble. Goes to show you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it!

I've really enjoyed watching your videos. I do things same as you. Who needs a machine shop.

Good recap of the entire fix/rebuild, it does take some gumption and bravery(not to mention time and patience) to do this I give it to ya. From start to finish did it only really take 50 hours? Well done Dennis.

I have no idea, but it made for a good title! 50 days might be more accurate for the total amount of time I was out a vehicle.

    Hello Dennis,
I was just curious is your Toyota still running with no issues ? I’m going through the same process for a 1996 Jeep Cherokee.

Yup, it's still going strong after more than a year! No leaks, no issues. Good luck on the Jeep!
