    It’s amazing how technology such as television and or the internet has created reality for so many. Buford is a hero if we rely on the hit movie regarding his reign as sheriff. However, the research that Mike has done reveals a great deal. Thanks, Mike, for presenting these videos and I’m planning on reading your book as well.

      I am about 1/2 through your book just last night after of reading for many hours. Due to my age I worked with a bunch of older Korea war vets. And a very lot Vietnam Vets. If I learned anything from them myself. The only true real heroes came back home in a body bag. I seen guys I start talking to them 30 or 40 foot away before walking upon them because of heavy combat they been through. Foreman saw that & would put myself working with them. I ended up retired as foreman myself.

      Oh I am a big car guy. That Vette I know had a big block Chevy in it due to the photos, What I read & heard was the engine was the best 427 made from Chevy at that time it was like now days called a high dollar crate engine that Chevy installed in it just for Buford.
      Main highway is no place to try out an auto. You take it to a track only. Public Highway is the very worst place to try out a vehicle.
      Vette’s are a different breed of autos that them big heavy Dodges that had some wonderful engines but they wasn’t as lite as that fiberglass Vette was. Sadly I think them humps in that road & high speed was too much for even Buford to handle. People please drive defensively & obey speed limits or under them.
      But years ago I noticed them humps in that road.
      We never will know what really happened hard say a deer might ran out in the road or anything? That’s why if you want to drive fast take it to the proper race track. Worst mistake is do it on a public highway because you never know what just around your vision.

      Yeah, 1974 was the last year of the big block Stingrays with them being 454 cubic inch displacement. As for the big block 427 ci Corvette the last year was 1969. The 1974 454 ci was in all actuality a pale shadow of the big block Corvette engines of the previous years. Both the 1969 tri-power 427 and the 1970 454 LS-6 greatly overshadowed the 454 engine offered in 1974. Idk what kind of crate engines GM offered in those years or what modifications dealers were willing to make for customers but it'd have taken serious $$$, parts, skill, and time to make the modifications that would get you close to the performance of the 1969 or 1970 big block Vettes bone stock. And with said mods you'd never get away with operating the vehicle on public roads in any state that enforced the emissions law requirements. It was
      due to those emissions regulations, along with lessening gasoline quality, increasing insurance rates and a host of other issues that horsepower, torque, and the accompanying performance all made a sharp and rapid decline yearly after 1970.

      You would also have to be equally as naive and foolish to be he shot himself in the chin or jaw to cover up the killing of his wife. Personally I'm not convinced he was as corrupt as people are saying but I also don't think he was as big a hero as the movies claim . The truth is somewhere in the middle probably but we will never know for sure

    • @MainManChannel2
      @MainManChannel2 7 місяців тому +1

      I got a former buddy like Towhead, meaning a smooth talker and likeable guy. He had to searve 11/29 plus a few months for a horrble crime. He friended the deputy Jailers, and even taught them Brazilian Jujitsu. They gave him special privileges. Took him out to eat. Allowed some ladies to visit, intimately as well. They snuck and realeased him early twice as well. Point is if you are a sly devil, you can run the jail.

    Mike, with the long hiatus, I was about to get a little worried about you old boy! Glad you are back and hope all is well. I see where you've got your book for sale on Ebay. If I buy it from you on there, is there any way you could autograph my copy? Looking forward to seeing more new episodes. I still don't go along with all your ideas about Sheriff Pusser and what all went down in McNairy County back then but I do greatly respect your determination and great amount of time and effort you've put into this subject, along with the manner in which you will debate a matter in disagreement as a man and gentleman.

    If Louise Hathcock had in her possession a small fortune then why was her motel and restaurant being foreclosed on for back taxes? Why didn't she use the money to pay off the tax lien and keep her property?

    Interesting, In this and the previous video I saw where you were hearing from a 3rd party. "He said", The deputy "said" Later that day if anything were to happen to me look at Buford. I'm not defending the undefendable and I really have no opinion either way about Pusser. I just advise against taking a statement made at face value until you can get confirmation that it is legit. Was Pusser's actions that day cold-blooded? We may never know for 100% sure! I do agree those entrance wounds make it look bad for Pusser, but then again there might be a good explanation for them.

      @@bufordpusser1122 Not trying to be argumentative or obtuse but in what context did Moffett say those words? Was he speaking to Pusser doing him harm or was Pusser being so reckless he could be harmed in the backlash? At 66 I learned over 30 years ago to be careful who I went clubbing with. You clearly know more about Pusser than I do. I am only asking questions because I really don't know. I know the movie Walking Tall was mostly fiction, heck Pusser himself in an article before his death was quoted as saying that. I am by Pusser much as I am about Wyatt Earp, mostly a lot of hype and no real substance. Earp's "wife" Josie was the one who spread a lot of that BS after he passed in 1929.
