In regards to the ASP talk, the pick we sent them was irrelevant. ASP was still on the board and we opted to draft Willander instead. It’s possible that ASP ends up with the higher ceiling of the two, but you can’t argue that Willander isn’t a stud in his own right. He has five points in three WJC games and is on the top powerplay unit wth ASP. He’s going to be great in Vancouver.
@@chrisvincelli5788 They didn’t want both of them, In fact, they passed on ASP because they thought his skillset too closely resembles Hughes. If we’d had that pick back, we undoubtedly take a forward.
Honestly think the trade was a win-win which you don't see happen very often. Usually you can say in retrospect one team got the better deal. I think ASP's ceiling is higher than Hronek, but that is going to be later down the line. Detroit still had/has a lot of issues that need to be addressed before they can start making the post season and contending, so they can wait for someone to develop when their window opens up. Vancouver needed a guy to help fix a problem right now. Hronek has done way better for them than he did for Detroit. I think the trade really turned out best for everybody.
the least we could do. he gifted us quinn hughes in favour of philip zadina who isn't in the league any more. we still have willander who got 2 goals and an assist in the game after ASP got his hatty. you couldn't count on benning picking guenther with that pick. he DID take juolevi over tkachuk after all.
@@swen1208 They made a few moves since then that freed up some space, but yeah my point was the move was pretty good for everyone involved, Vancouver, Detroit, even Hronek himself. He just wasn't working in Detroit.
Dude, you will never make it 50 years following the Canucks if you have to look back at players they didn`t draft. Oh, what, next week, we had Forsling, Bure, Gaudette and Cam Neely. Oh no. Get over it, already. I know, content, videos, likes, haha. You would be a good National Enquirer writer, haha.

He is far better defensively. Therefore, he may not get as many points as ASP but his +- will be much better.
VAN is going to be sick for years to come once him and Lekkeramaki make the jump
Could of had both of them

Agree both teams got a good player
Pens drafted Brayden Yager and traded him for Rutger McGroarty. ASP could have been the next Letang.

How many other teams passed on him as well. Willander is going to be good

Yzerman didn't gift Hughes that was Holland.
As a Canuck and a Skellefteå AIK fan i wanted us to pick ASP in the draft but Tom Willander is the more suitable to our system
Hi from Seattle
They would've picked a forward like Oliver Moore, they already picked Wilander at #11
Even if the Wings only had one 1R pick I think they would have still taken ASP.
eh, no guarantee Canucks would draft him. might as well look at several guys that were still on the board and FOMO them
Redwings: Elias Petterson
Canucks: 2026 1st, MBN, Kasper, Buium, Rasmussen
Who says No?
Everyone
Willander will be fine
We got ripped off Hronek Doesn't scored goals can't put the pucked in the net? Peilikka HUGHES getting old soon before willander arrived
What even is this take? Hronek hasn’t been all that healthy and when he was healthy he WAS putting the puck in the net and making plays. Casual
@@tylercoridor7418 Hronek looked awful a lot of the time with the Wings and he's looked WAY better with Vancouver.
@@Nichaelas Thanks to that trade, we're able to re-sign Seider and Raymond to long term contracts.
Hronek is literally one of our best defensemen right now. I would rather take him over a young prospect who may or may not be good in the NHL.

Established 1st pair d-man or a guy who played good in other leagues that may or may not translate to the NHL.

Isnt he like 5'11 185 doesn't seem like he can be physical enough
Quinn Hughes ring a bell? He's shorter, lighter and just won the Norris.
