Acura and their ceo already confirmed that it’s getting the type s treatment and it will no doubt get the k20c. They just put the 1.5 as the base engine since the k20c is the base engine for the TLX and with the TLX being higher in the hierarchy that won’t work so it makes sense the base engine is the top civic engine this side of the type r. But Acura should have just called it the ILX as that makes sense in their product portfolio and let the integra name rest or built something different like what everyone wanted as a global heritage model with non corporate Acura design that would be badged under Honda where Acura’s aren’t sold and thus sell more and give them more budget to develope that coupe everyone says they want. Also, if we follow the integra lineage, we would end up with the ilx how the tlx is the modern day vigor and the now discontinued RLX is the modern legend. Integra was a compact civic based premium but not luxury vehicle which is the current ilx but the integra name is on such a pedestal that people forget, so they should have left it or put it on what it’s perceived as. Also, with the civic si now being bargain basement in terms of equipment, such as no heated seats and single zone climate control, that leaves room for the integra to be priced slightly higher as it’ll be better equipped.
The ILX was ALWAYS supposed to be the Integra but they left it as the "LS Model of the Integra" instead of the GS-R or the Type R. Acura brought back the Integra name because they chose to go the route of the Type-R and GS-R of the Integra legacy. The new base Integra is already rivaling the new Civic Si compared to the Integra's of the past. This really IS the spirit of the Integra tuner culture. The old Integra sold a lot but A LOT of those cars were just the LS, base model. This is definitely the Integra the more that I thought about it. I feel like they could have done better with the design though, but this captures the Integra spirit. The Type-S will probably be even better. This Integra will finally be the last international combustion engine with a 6-speed manual. I'm pretty sure this new Integra will become a future classic similar to how the RSX had controversy but eventually became a favorite.
I think time will tell how successful it is. It will be interesting to see how it's going to be marketed in show rooms and what customer group will actually purchase this car.
Great job covering this wanna be comeback car guys!! Only 8k Z1s sold that year, world wide!! Shoulda bought and imported one strictly for the doors alone. Maybe they’ll bring back the Legend next?!?
Thank you! Yeah car manufacturers definitely need to be careful when “bringing back” a name. Only successful company to do it so far has been Ford with the bronco in my opinion
The TLX Type S is already an overhyped flop, but this new ILX, oh sorry, Integra takes to a whole new level. For 30k you might as well go buy the new GR86/BRZ if you're looking for a proper sports car that still has decent trunk space.
Besides the BRZ/86 the cheap sports car is dead. Enthusiast don't have anything entry level anymore. You gotta spend over 40 grand if you want something other than the 86
I would be hard pressed to own one of the 2023 integras. One of the older 90s integras sure but the new ones look like you can get a lot more for the money
Definitely. Get an older 3 series or a mint e55 amg for that money. All honda/acura is doing with this car is bringing back a famous name (much like the bronco, or even blazer) to generate sales. Its bad for the car community but if it generates sales i guess people gotta make money however they can
Yeah id take an e55 or 3 series any day over a honda😂. It definitely is sad and bad for the community and those are good examples. The bronco made a return and we are seeing people having to wait 3+ years to get theirs because ford did a fantastic job with the remake. The blazer did quite the opposite and frankly was a fail (much like I expect the integra will be) because chevy just slapped the name on a crossover and called it a day without paying homage to the predecessor
Really good point. Companies got to be careful with all these “remakes”. Ford is the only one ive seen so far to pull it off with great success with the new bronco
I'm sorry but the new Integra is just a rebadged Honda Civic which is already ugly to begin with... that blunt front end I don't even know where to begin with... I've been used to Honda styling that are understated but sleek to look at, think of the late model CRX era Hondas... but 21st century Honda styling especially from the last 10 years or so, they have lost their way... bringing back the Integra with a REBADGED Civic is a cheap ass way to bring customers back to the Acura fold...
Exactly! It upsets me too that acura is able to make cool vehicles. But they would rather water down their brand to make sales as opposed to aiming at their t arget market
I agree this is an ILX, not an Integra, but I wouldn't call them lazy. More likely they were given a Civic Hatch and a limited budget to work with. The VP said they wanted to do a coupe but it would drastically increase the pricing for the consumer, and people simply aren't buying coupes in the numbers needed to break even.

Lots of good info!! Very interesting perspective
One of the best review of the failed Integra reveal!
Much appreciated!!!

Remove the Sticker can you still identify it as an Integra? NO
Lol if you remove the sticker its more honda crosstour than anything😂
I don't know why Acura made the new Integra like this. Even the renderings online looked better than this.
Agreed. They need to go back to the drawing board
Question is- would you own one?
I would be hard pressed to own one of the 2023 integras. One of the older 90s integras sure but the new ones look like you can get a lot more for the money
Fair enough. Yeah you could get a few older bmws that are probably nicer and definitely faster for that money. Or even a few more e55s😂

Its not an opinion this is an ILX not an Integra Acura just showed us how lazy they are
Exactly! The ILX is already based on the Civic chassis design. There really isn't a need for this car. The ILX starts around the same price
Yup. 100%
I agree this is an ILX, not an Integra, but I wouldn't call them lazy. More likely they were given a Civic Hatch and a limited budget to work with. @@mechanicalhigh960 if they went ahead and just called it the new ILX I wouldn’t be mad and likely purchase one
