Problem with the BRZ is that I'm not a fan of the Sbarro engine and 2nd gear is ridiculously underpowered even with the 'fix.' Maybe that's just me being jaded from having a 92 Mitsu GTO TT AWD as my daily and it does 75 in 2nd without even blinking.
Honestly, that car has ruined me for other cars. Considering a 2012/13 SL600 if I don't get a 400z or something new.

haven't been able to test drive her yet, but a lot of the reviews I watched said the torque dip had been fixed. my daily is an fxt which is the best cvt I ever driven it'd be perfect for me if it was offered in manual. cause I do get off the beaten path quite a bit, that'll be an inconvenience with the BRZ, just really want a manual gearbox again (plus starting to get close to the end of that cvt warranty)

  • @SimbaTheGreat

So I worked at Acura when the ILX was new. The ILX was an Integra. The new integra is an ILX. Just think of the name of being interchangeable. The RSX is an integra in name and architecture. The ILX just wasn’t externally called integra.
The new ILX/Integra like Sean said, is boring. It didn’t hit the mark like they thought it would. Using the old nameplate was to invigorate sales because ILX just wasn’t hitting with the consumer market they thought it would. RSX had been gone too long for anyone to make the connection that wasn’t an enthusiast. TL and TSX turned into TLX. The TLX can be optioned like a TL or TSX and the driving dynamics will match. TL is a V6 TLX with AWD. A TSX is now 4 Cyl TLX with PAWS. Legend->RL->RLX
The integra only left for years 2007-2012. It just got boring in 2013 when it came back. Integra of 2013-2022 has been hit hard by critics calling it a gussied up Civic Si with an automatic. It’s sales numbers reflected as such being a low volume seller and not a competitive vehicle either. I expect the new ILX/Integra to suffer the same fate. High sales year 1 (20k~ units) with sales tapering every year.

@musicac90 bingo - your comment is dead on and it's a shame "enthusiasts" are clueless about how car companies today need to operate as more people continue to move towards cuvs/suvs/trucks and hybrids/evs and away from MTs, ice, and coupes/sedans. (never mind emissions regulations and companies already committing to evs over ice).
europeans share platforms across their brands, but their prices have much higher ceilings - but honda wants to provide an "affordable" entry-level luxury gateway car (with a manual!) and all the enthusiasts shit on it because it's not a 300hp 3-door for $25k that looks nothing like current acuras...just stupid.

    • @FoxFireUnlimited
      @FoxFireUnlimited 3 роки тому

If they made the TL AWD Type SH or whatever it's called with two doors and a manual...I'd consider retiring my 92 Mitsubishi GTO TT AWD.

    • @SimbaTheGreat
      @SimbaTheGreat 3 роки тому +3

@musicac90 Acura is the performance brand now. Acura refusing to make a performance, or even dedicated coupe, for their performance brand should tell how how serious they are about selling performance cars. Not only that, but EVERY luxury marque sells a coupe, with the exception of Acura. Manufacturers do not look at low volume enthusiasts options to make mass market coupes. They have different shoppers. A person shopping for a civic Si will not crossshop a mustang or Camaro when they have the same entry level price and the latter outperform the former. Two different buyers. Honda just greatly missed the mark with this model. It’s just another ILX. There’s nothing special about this model over it’s predecessors.

Looks fine as a standalone car but being a sedan when the Civic Si and Accord 2.0T both exist already just makes it come off as somewhat redundant in current year. I'm sure it'll be fine when it releases but IDK, maybe it's a bit lacking in the personality department compared to the GR 86 and Mk. VIII GTi (which I'd imagine are direct competitors).

R35 looks nothing like r30/r31/r32/r33/r34 and should have been under the infinity badge instead of the Nissan badge.
Mk5 has more bmw than Toyota (interior, chassis, and engine)
Mach E is an Suv instead of a coupe.
All 3 aren't bad vehicles, but it was a stupid decision and shows that the companies are sell outs willing to tarnish a legendary name in order to make a cash grab.
Hopefully they make a 2dr version of this, that would be their only saving grace. As of now, this is a genesis coupe in a sedans body 😅

    • @original__gmebvy
      @original__gmebvy 3 роки тому +3

The R35 is the successor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R. It still carries on the GT-R’s lineage, AWD, 6 cylinder engine, twin turbo, flagship of Nissan’s lineup globally. It would make no sense to sell the GT-R as an Infiniti, since there’s literally no connection to that brand to the GT-R nameplate, and that’s a slap in the face more than anything.
Mk5 Supra is a collab between Toyota and BMW. Both companies worked together to even make the vehicle viable and its costs on the market reflect that. In house Toyota’s (or Lexus’ for that matter), are low volume vehicles that are made with a ton of R&D and don’t sell very well. The LC500 is an amazing car but it costs $100k, if they had collaborated with another automaker like Yamaha or Lotus the car would be much cheaper to justify it existing.
At the end of the day the GR Supra drives like a Toyota despite using parts from another manufacturer. And if the Elise and Exige, which are British sports cars can use Toyota engines, Toyota tuned suspension and a mix of Toyota parts on the interior, then why can’t the reverse be true for the GR Supra? The BRZ and the 86 did the same thing and no one seemed to care but with BMW working on the Supra with Toyota is where you and a few others draw the line?!? Make it make sense.
The Mustang Mach-E is a crossover truck. Is it a traditional “Mustang”? No, but it’s a “Mustang Mach-E”, which is a vehicle that is not a traditional Mustang but uses some of its styling, which is heavily seen in the front and rear of the car. Both types of vehicles using the same nameplate can exist. The Shelby F150 is a thing that no one gets mad about but somehow a Shelby Mustang Mach-E is terrible? 😂 if Shelby thought the F150 was good enough for a Shelby version to exist then I have no doubt in my mind that he would have approved for an electric Mustang to be under that performance nameplate, whether it’s a 2 door coupe or a 5 door hatchback.
Finally, the Integra went back to its roots and became the very thing it started out first as: a 5 door hatchback with an optional manual. And everyone that’s saying Integra’s can’t be more than 2 doors: The Integra started out in the 80’s as a 5 door hatchback and a 4 door sedan. The “coupe” came much later and even then that was a 3 door hatchback.
The success of the Civic being offered for sale in a particular body style depends on the overall sales of that model as well as the potential for an Integra version of that body style. The Civic coupe didn’t sell in the numbers that Honda hoped for these past few years and the onset of Covid made it even worse, so much so that the coupe was discontinued. As a result the 3 door Integra hatchback coupe isn’t happening and it never will.

The Gtr could have had a totally different name, that's the point. It could have been released under infinity as a beefed up g37 since it shares a stronger resemblance to that line of cars. Unlike the supra, it did not keep an inline engine. It took on a nearly identical v6 that the infinity runs and the fairladys run.
The problem with the supra isn't the fact that it's a collab, it's that the car doesn't seem nearly close to a 50/50 or even a 60/40 for that matter. It's far more bmw than Toyota, and that wouldn't even be so bad if we at least got all of the bmw things. Like the fact that the z4 has a manual but the supra doesn't. Or that the z4 has a convertible and Toyota is still dragging their feet with the targa after showing it very well could be done.
I'm glad you brought up the brz, that's a perfect example of what SHOULD have happened. No one is mad at that car because it's an entirely new entity, it's not pretending to be something it's not. No one ever said a collab was bad, and since there was no tradition to uphold it successfully established itself as a new tuner. Collab are perfect if they lower the price for manufacturing thus lowering the price for consumers, just don't bring up old namesakes when there will be HEAVY compromises on both sides.
Lotus never broke tradition with their elise/exige and they're keeping it going with the emira, again, no problem there. They've had Toyota engines and they kept it going. They even managed to keep offering a manual.
The Shelby aspect has mostly been seen as a performance line of ford cars. Not a specific model. So a Shelby f150 isn't seen as a negative because it's not calling itself a Mustang, it's saying it's got more power than a normal one, so essentially it's like the durango having a "hellcat" variant or the charger having a "hellcat" variant. The f150 didn't just up and change to a Mustang and the durango didn't start going by the name of challenger.
As for the Integra, it has always had a sedan and coupe, the problem isn't that it revealed the sedan first as most of us believe a coupe will come later. The disappointment comes from the fact that it's so boring and looks like so many other cars they already offer. It has nothing original or unique, other than the fact that it copied hyundai's taillights.
Yes an Integra was a beefed up civic, but it looked different. As someone who has owned a DC2 and a Dc5, neither looked like a civic. However this time around the civic is still faster which was a double hit to the new Integra since not only did it not establish its own identity, it isn't even faster than the car it will be compared to. Ironic since they're trying to rebrand Acura as the "Performance" line when it has always been the "Luxury" line.
Hopefully when they do drop the coupe version of the new Integra it gets a major change. It wouldn't be the first time that happened. The genesis coupe looks nothing like the genesis sedan. Honda still has a chance to redeem itself.
And as I stated before, not hating on the gtr, supra, or Mach E. I actually like them all, albeit with widebodies 😅
You are right about sales though, they keep making bad decisions in either the design department or the performance department and it keeps hurting them. Covid didn't help either.
A prime example of bad decision making was their idea to make the nsx a hybrid. Though it is unique and offers something the 918 does at a FAR cheaper price, it did so by defeating its original mission. To provide supercar performance at a more affordable rate. Had they stuck with a rwd turbo and not implemented the additional electric stuff, the price would have likely been closer to that of the gtr and their sales would have been MUCH better. But since they decided to come in at the 150-200k mark, that took them out of the "affordable" bracket and no one wanted to drop that kind of money on an "uninspiring" or "compromising" vehicle when they could go buy a huracan, r8, porsche, Ferrari, mclaren for the same price. (Though again, the nsx looks damn nice)

I don't mind it, personally. The Integra has always had a sedan option when it was called Integra. It's even had a 5 door liftback option. That being said, I feel like a lot of the disappointment people have with new models of a lot recent cars comes from the internet hyping up expectations then being burned when it doesn't pan out the way @InsertInstaHere thought it would in their render. The people who say they want these cars almost never buy them new. No manufacturer cares what these people think because they aren't getting money from them. If you wanted this to be a coupe, you should have bought the Civic Coupe brand new rather than used. As far as the horsepower goes, this car has what the older cars didn't: Torque. And no way they'll let the base model Integra have the same drivetrain as the Type R. Maybe the Type S or Type R variant of this will, but absolutely not the base model. This is going to be a much better car than the old ones were. Give it some time and let the Honda people figure out what can be done with it.

I am an Integra Type R owner in Japan. When I first saw spy photos of
the next gen Teg, I knew that it wasn't going to have the same magic as
the DC2 or even the DC5 for that matter. First of all, no design
continuity from the previous Integra models ...NONE. If no one told me
that this was an Integra and there was no big ricey Integra sticker on the side, I would not know what it was. My first guess
would have been a late model Accord. Whereas, you can definitely see
design continuity between the four generations of the past models (RSX
is an Integra.) But because of this major failure to bring back the
style and flavor of the Integra family, my 23 year old DC2 just
increased in value and is actually worth more than this new Integra.
Integra Type Rs in Japan are now valued between $13,000 for one in
crappy condition to up to $60,000 or more for one in pristine shape.

Moreover, i was referring to more about the body queues like the notch back. This car looks like a really poor attempt at making the integra into fastback. Now it look a dog arching its back to take a crap. And its not that I don't like modern cars, I don't like nor appreciate crappy and misleading marketing, and trying to make us believe that these cars are going to be a continuation of the iconic history of their predecessors. I love the new look. The Integra is basically a cooler version of an already cool car. The Civic. Don’t understand the hate? With the type R engine I can’t imagine a better car that I could afford.

I think the better thing that could’ve been done would be to name either the ILX Type S or the Acura CSX (a car only available to the Canadian market than the US market). Acura’s normally had more weight because of the “extras”, in my opinion. If these extras were things like active aero, SHAwD system like the prelude or something it would’ve been received better. Just my thoughts.

I said it somewhere before, but the only things they got right IMO are the manual and it’s yellow. There was a popular render going around where it looked way more distinctive as a sporty coupe with the wing and everything. I feel manufacturers, for enthusiast cars in general, need to listen to their fans and customers more often. 🤷‍♂️

Take off the Nostalgia goggles and try and think back to all those LS/GS models you saw over the years, not the suped up with aftermarket parts and Type R’s but those sedans with hub caps and even the original 5 door boxy one. Temper your expectations and understand, a Type S is also coming. Turbo, 6mt, LSD… and all the modern tech, it’s exactly in line with the interga name plate, but they don’t make coupes anymore, so don’t expect something nobody would buy anyways…. Including those most critical of it, the ones most critical are the ones who had the old ones, and those people have all moved on to BMW/MB/Tesla/GTR etc…. Those people wouldn’t buy an integra anyways, they’ve outgrown these.

Whoever buys one of these should bondo/paint the Integra stamps and order official ILX emblems from Acura.
Now it’s back home where it belongs in the lineup.🤙🏽

All these company’s are just trying to bring back the names of cars we loved as kids and now that we are in our 30s and have the means to buy these cars they think we will flock to the dealer and buy one. Fuck that for the 40k plus price tag I’m sure this is going to have I’ll just go find an old da9 and k swap it.

Think there's an issue with safety specs? Like car's can't be as small or unique as they use to? Compare size of cool 90's car's to now. 😱

If the Integra had retro styling like the 3rd gen but no one would have really cared if it was based of the civic, had the 1.5T, or wasn’t a coup. I think it was always wishful thinking to believe it wouldn’t look reminiscent of the current Acura line up, or expect it to be revised as a pure sports car. Just not the integra name. People were expecting Type R’s to be the new standard

  • @tarushdei

The new Integra should have been a luxury version of the Civic SI/Type-R.
And these manufacturers should be aiming directly at enthusiasts when they use an enthusiast name.

make it a coupe and a bit more aggressive front end and I'd be sold it's an integra. Regardless I think it has potential I'd like to see what people do with em
