Yes, it's really important to know the parting style you prefer before going to a loctician because from my experience someone else's idea of what is best for you does not always make for your satisfaction in the end. Great video 🌺
Thank you! My first Loc journey, I had no clue and just assumed there was only one way and didn’t realize I had options that I could ask for to cater to what I wanted in the end.
I got instant locs with a brick pattern and middle part (it doesn’t go all the way down my scalp though). I could not be any happier with how they look!
I had locs done and my hair has diff density in diff areas so in some areas it looked great and other areas more scalpy. I hated that so i combed them out. The I redid them myself with the grab and go method where i let the density of my hair and tried to feel which parts actually wanted to go with each other. There are slight variations in locs size which i like personally and no scalp and no tension. My locs lay naturally around my face. I feel like i couldnt have done it any better for myself personally and potentially saved myself a lot of future thinning. What do you think about this, David? Have you seen this before, would you have recommended i do differently or try some other pattern? The initial pattern was brick pattern.
Just speaking personally and not professionally, I think you’ve done the best method for you. If you were going to a loctician and they were maintaining their work and monitoring it then maybe the first way would’ve worked better but I did the scoop da door method and it has worked for me in so many ways. Less scalp, less tension, face-framing, easier self-maintenance because now I don’t have to be anal about keeping my parts and sections exact!!
I think I'm closer to the diamond parting system. And had I known this beforehand, I would have gotten squares so that they were all even in width. But they still look good. I'm only a year in, so we will see how they turn out next year around this same time when they are fully mature.
Ok... I'll start with the C-scooping technique. I have had the grid for my 1st set of locs and it was way too much scalp showing. So, beginning again from scratch with your technique.
Do you think you can make a video about microlocs with extensions? I am very interested in starting w/twist and adding some extensions for volume and just a little bit of length maybe either 10inch or 12inch. If you it would be much appreciated!
Hey! I did this video about Loc extensions in general which would apply to microlocs as well. Microloc extensions would be more tedious but give the same result when done well! I love your channel! The content is fantastic and concise. I have a question about locing tools. Do you interlock, and if so, do you have a preference of what kind of tool to use? I just started microlocs after wearing traditional locs for ~6 years and I was curious of what you use to maintain your lovely hair. Thanks, and take care!
Thank you so much for the encouraging words and for watching! I do interlock and have tried multiple different types of tools. My favorite tool by far is the very inexpensive plastic sewing needles that you can get on Amazon or in a store like Walmart. In my video here I show how I customize them to the size that works best for me: HOW TO MAKE INTERLOCKING TOOL | Cheap DIY Self-Retightening Tool | DIY Braidlocs | Microlocs ua-cam.com/video/I8-G6DXHL94/v-deo.html
Sir, I have a question. I would like a c part foundation .... But I really would like to have a middle part, side parts and a straight part from ear to ear also. Is it possible? 🙏🏾🔥❤️😅 In new to the loc family and I don't want to make any mistakes. 🙈
It’s definitely possible. I have c parts and made sure to give myself a middle and two side parts!! That’s exciting that you’re coming into the Loc family. Your locs will turn out great 🙌🏾✨
@@DavidJaysWay thank you so much!!! This comment and lovely welcome means the world to me!!! I'm so nervous and I've been feeling like I don't want to let myself or the community down! I'm so grateful!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🫂
I’m all about encouragement and positivity! You’ve got this and your locs will teach you so much about yourself and life! It’s going to be an awesome journey

Wow, love this, I have the Dimond shape and some of my braids are a little larger than others and you are so right about the the shape thank you 😊
I really love the way diamond parting looks. I can’t even part in a straight line, so diamonds weren’t happening for me 😅
😊😊😊C-parting I life! Thank you for the informative content.
I’m a ride or die for the c part 😅😂

I love me a good diamond parting though!! It’s so visually pleasing to look at!

I know for some people, it is really important for the scalp to show. It just doesn’t fit me or my personality at all!
