JANUARY 2020:
PRACTICALITY, LOW MAINTENANCE, LIGHT WEIGHT, SHALLOW DRAFT, FUEL ECONOMY, CARRY HUGE LOADS, ARE JUST A FEW REASONS I HAD THE 'JETTYWOLF', BUILT.
WHY DID I CHOOSE AND HOW DID I GO ABOUT HAVING MY PERFECT ALUMINUM CHARTER BOAT BUILT.
I WANTED A BOAT BUILT THE WAY I WANTED IT, (to a point)
YOU HAVE TO START SOME WHERE AND BLACKLAB MARINE PROVIDED ME WITH ALL THE INFO I WANTED. IMPECCABLE SERVICE FROM START TO FINISH.
BLACKLAB MARINE IS NO LONGER A EAST COAST REP. FOR PACIFIC BOATS. SO THESE DAYS, YOU'LL HAVE TO TALK TO MS. JULIE PARKS AT www.pacificboats.com OR
/ pacificboatsandskiffs
www.pacificboats.com/pdf/pacif...
HAVING BLM ON THE EAST COAST WAS A BIT LESS EXPENSIVE AND QUICKER TO GO SEE, RIDE AND HAVE 3 GLORIOUS COOL DAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF JULY, SINCE I WAS LEAVING HOT FLORIDA, TO GO ORDER MY NEW CHARTER BOAT.
BECAUSE OF TIME, I DIDN'T COVER MANY THINGS IN THIS VIDEO.
BUT THERE WAS SO MUCH MORE, I COULD HAVE.
HERE'S THE COMPLETE PLAYLIST ON MY UA-cam CHANNEL ABOUT MY BOAT, MY MAINTENANCE, OUTBOARDS, HAVING A CUSTOM TOP FINALLY BUILT AFTER APPROX. 12 YEARS WITHOUT ANY SHADE....I'M OLDER NOW!
ADDING A KICKER MOTOR AND SO MUCH MORE.

Whu aluminium and not fibreglass?
@@whitewhale-gq2kc its better!
Great story DAVE...thanks for sharing
Loved this video. Keep up the good work.
Greetings from Kennebunkport. Loved the backstory on your boat selection and your trip "DownEast" back in the day. We Mainer's are known for our down home practicality, common sense and hospitality to the town folk and our annual influx of "visitors from away". You have many of those traits from your straight up tell it like it is approach to practicality and things that worked. You would fit right into our coastal culture so well.
Your points on the durability and toughness of "Aluminum Plate Construction" are spot on. Aluminum is about 30% lighter than fiberglass for same size boat. Thus requiring less horsepower for the same performance. Reduced weight increases the "Fuel Efficiency" by a significant factor too. A big plus for a "Charter Business" guy. At the end of a day with the catching is over and its "Clean-up on Aisle Boat-deck", its way easier on a metal deck.
They don't make the big yachts, USCG Cruisers or Patrol boats hulls out of fiberglass, that's for sure. But they make all those "pretty overpriced boats for the players" down in Southern Florida...Fiberglass and "Chemical Enhancements" go so well together. Just like "Big Fish Stories" 🤣
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY. Interested in fishing Jax. Florida? www.captdaves.com
I've always admired your boat . I think it's awesome.
Thanks Captain Dave for a great video. Good job, well throughout and good flow. Many of us out here that do appreciate the work that guys like you do. Thanks again Captain! Good Fishin and tight lines. One more thing. I think the Jetty Wolf is a pretty darn excellent rig ya got there, going on 14 years old and stil working hard!
What a great video! The info you share is amazing!
keep "warm fuzzies" like that coming and you may get a heart ❤ next to your next comment....hahahaha
You are one of my favorite youtubers to watch. I love your no bullshit attitude on things. Very cool story. Thanks for sharing
thanks.......right now if BULLSHIT was free, I couldn't afford any❗❗
Dave i support you and your channel. Keep on keeping on. I live in the westside of jax and i watch all your videos. Youre a cool guy. Im gonna book a trip one of these days just to hang out.
Thanks for posting this video. I am very excited about getting one myself. Thanks for all u do! Fish on! 🎣

Nice boat Dave. I have a 20' aluminum deep V boat and love aluminum boats. Thanks for the videos.
Catfish Stalker Outdoors with Capt Greg Ollila whered you get it?
I have a 1965 lone star 17’ aluminum deep v with a cab that I’m trying to rebuild right now. I love these kind of boats.
Very interesting ! Thanks for doing this vid , Capt Dave. The best boat I ever owned was a 15' Duroboat , it was built in Snohomish, WA back in the early 90's.
I know a guy named Don, fishing the St Johns for years and years, in his TILLER Duroboat, Durocraft....something like that. Good guy, he's a river roamer. All over the place different times of year.
YEP,THATS A TRUE WORKING CAPTAINS VESSEL. BAD ASS TO THE BONE ..END OF DISCUSSION...THANKS FOR THE VIDS OVIEDO FL..
Badass boat, I love aluminum as well. The only boats I have owned have been aluminum. Currently, I run a Prodrive SBX (self bailing hull), custom built for me that I use in South Florida and Northern Wisconsin. If I ever do a bay boat or center console, it will be aluminum. Thanks for the video, love that tank!
I am refitting my second aluminum boat. A 1997 Lund 2250 Sport Cabin Hard Top. It is also very thick plate aluminum. Unbelievable how well this thing has survived. It has only seen freshwater here in Wyoming.
Thanks Captain Dave for taking the time to do a history lesson on your boat. I have a nice fiberglass bay boat but I also am a Tin boat lover. I have another boat that is an Alweld aluminum boat that I just can't let go cause I still enjoy using. Probably use the tinny more than than the fiberglass one.
cheaper to keep and run..and the fish don't care.
Great video. You are a great story teller. I want a boat now.
Go for it!
Capt Dave, that is the M1 Abrams of the St John's river. The pilot house is really sharp looking too! What a great company, and professionally laid out sales brochure. Great vid,
oh that was many moons ago KEMOSABE.
Enjoyed your Video. Like your Plumber's truck also.
its a good ole truck...like me boat. no fancy BS.
Awesome boat
YES IT IS....It'll be around when a pathfinder goes to the landfill.
Good Video Capt Dave, thanks for posting the video. I went fishing in the Northwest in Seattle WA and all they use up there are boats like yours. Same thing up in Alaska. They are tough as nails and can take hard conditions.
yep, met guys with my boat up there....even center consoles.
Awesome video, I'm moving to jax next week and was second guessing on the boat I wanted. Stabicraft. But as you know east coast doesn't have aluminum boat builders. Your video nailed it. Thank you
moving to Jax? I'd move elsewhere....you can have my spot. I want out. Stabicraft? oh you must be ready to spend BIG bucks. there's dealers in the pac west who import them. You'll have to do as I did. I know all about the plate alloy LIFE! A NZ boat being imported to USA now stabi's competitor is PROCELL boats. I love my Pacific V2325. Mine is an 05 powered by a 225 honda and i just can't say enough about how well this boat handles rough weather
Nice boat capt dave. Me I loved my 1st boat a 14ft smoker craft with 25hp merc and a side console.
if you all ever been here before, none of this is all that new. More history than anything. In "video description" there's my whole boat playlist of endless topics.

That's an awesome boat, I'm hoping to get an aluminum boat once I have the room, might not be much, but I've seen a lot of youtube fishing guys put their UA-cam channel name on the boat, small gesture that might help gain more followers. Good luck man I'm rooting for ya!
Whatever I put on the outside of my boat well usually get destroyed because I bang in the shit all the time and the really the only thing I care about is the people inside

Monocoque body is a new Daiwa design for their high end reels. I really love an aluminum boat! My dinghy is a riveted 1972 12ft sears v front. Catches plenty of slots tho...
my favorite Daiwa design is called ''anodised & machined aluminum'', aka: Daiwa Ryoga!
What's up my brother you are in a hard business especially with these fuel prices so I wish you the best of luck I'm so sorry it's been so hard on you my friend
huh????? I'm just fine, don't know what you're talking about. It's called business
I remember when you got that boat. 13 years ago? I feel old now.
yep.....and it ain't paid off YET, either!!!
Hang in there I know how it is to work for some thing you care about
Hello, very nice video on your boat. Seems like a perfect set up for your area. It looks like you get some chop where are you fish. How does your Boat handle the chop? Would you feel safe taking it off shore? I know you mentioned in the video that another owner was taking his out to the oil rigs.
It looks like it rides on a shallow draft. How skinny have you taken it? Thanks
of course I go offshore....but our inlet can be rougher than offshore, and that's where I fish. SAFE?? that's funny. It's safer than you can ever imagine. you need more research on why so many governmental, and work boats are welded plate alloy. I fish all conditions, from 2' over sand too shallow marsh, too rolling waves next to 10 ton granite boulders, in a 4 knot current. 👉👉👉I FAILED TO MENTION: 1/4'' solid plate bottom, 5/16th'' sides, deck, 1/2'' thick transom. NO RIVETS, All welded. Not like the boats at Bass Pro Shops. These are work boats.
@@CaptDavesSportfishing Thanks, I’m looking at boats for the lower Laguna Madre. most of the boats are Texas flats boats Designed to go skinny in less than a foot of water, however impractical for going offshore. I guess there is no boat that is a perfect compromise.
Try looking in Louisiana same thing Laguna Madre Louisiana all the same hanco's scully's American Marine all build shallow water boats Gator Trax numerous boat after boat after boat build out of aluminum plate
What nuts / bolts are safe to use with an aluminum boat? I’ve been hearing stainless steel but NOT galvanized?? I don’t want corrosion on my little boat and can find aluminum bolts anywhere. So What is safe?
stainless with TEF-GEL
Are you able to get a boat painted? I've seen a few alum boats that look like fiberglass because of the paint. The industrial look turns off the wife. I love the custom nature of metal.
I never wanted painted Id just beat the living hell out of it.
I live in Arlington, WA and the next town over from me is Marysville, WA. I had no idea that these boats were manufactured hear. I'd love to take a factory tour but they only have a P.O. Box and phone number. I guess I could call them up. Actually, the military PT boats that were made for Vietnam were made around my area but they were made out of fiberglass. Many aluminum boat manufactures are based out of the PNW (Pacific Northwest). I love your boat design. It's supper nice looking! I'm thinking of building my own aluminum boat from a kit because that's the only way I can afford a nice boat. There are several companies that offer the CNC cutting files and then you weld it up and install all the other components. I think I could get a boat like yours for about 20k if I built it from a kit myself.
I know, Coldwater boats is next door to Pacific
@@CaptDavesSportfishing Oh man, I saw them building a boat about 8 years ago. I just saw a map of where they are located and was checking out that area for property to purchase and saw them welding up an aluminum boat. Now I know. There web site sort of sucks. Very difficult to get information.
@@CaptDavesSportfishing I'm not a welder but a carpenter and watched a video of this guy welding up a 14' mini jet boat for his first time ever and it was also his first time ever welding anything. He did a great job and it looked really easy to do. This makes me want to build an aluminum boat for myself and save money since I can't afford to go out and purchase a turn key boat or for that matter a nice used boat for myself. If I want a nice boat, than I'll have to build it and then get used engines from a government auction to power it.
I like it more than Fiberglass in many ways, only issue is the noise when we are in the ocean jigging. Any methods to reduce to hull noise when the waves hitting it. Thanks sir 🙏
not mine, perfectly quiet. Go get a foam filled one.
@@CaptDavesSportfishing thank you sir

old timer metal rock and raw. cool head captain. lets go to gilligan island.
I don't but customers think they are with all the groceries they bring
Nice video & nice boat. I have a metal boat also & would not want a glass boat. Of course I live in Michigan. Been watching your videos for a few months now. First one was the the icey-tek cooler killer of yeti. My boat is a Stabicraft which over there in NZ they use Icey-Tek's on these boats. Good video & agree with another of your video's Aluminum much nicer to own then the glass boats. But people think glass is sexier. But the metal boats are safer IMHO
MY CHUM CHOPPER in AUS. and NZ is called a burley bucket. My stern fillet table is standard on most fishing boats there too. I use chain guard on my anchor chain, also a AUS idea, and YES, i like Icey tech coolers too. If I watch videos about boats, it's AUS. or NZ, for me. Alot of their influences are on the Jettywolf.
Thanks, you are comment #1.
BTW.....if I was a cabin guy. A Stabi, I would love to have!!!!!!!
@@CaptDavesSportfishing I will have to look you up to say hi if I get down to Jacksonville Florida with some extra time. I sometimes go by Jacksonville when I deliver trailers to Sanford.
@@CaptDavesSportfishing They do have a few open bow boats called frontier boats. For charter I believe their 2250 & 2750 center cab would be the best. I only have a 1650 fisher but it handles 3-5 foot waves on Lake Erie better then a 22 foot deep V fiber glass boat does.
@@BBBYpsi unless you're sneaking in the back door, we are the gateway to Florida that people drive right thru.
How much do they cost
When you get a custom boat built there is no retail price like a car or plastic boat at a dealer
It’s pronounced mono-cog but amazing boat
can the same boat for china aluminum boat for 1/5 of the prizes.... lol
was that meant to be jibberish??
Paint that BOAT
Fuk NO!!!!! this boat works for a living. Paint wouldnt last.
Go paint your own!
isnt 18 degrees of deadrise gonna pound alot
For 16 years havent given a shit, stable is all I care about. My last boat was 18, had it for 12 years. Some tippy 24 degree deadrise will never be a boat I own. Is that good enough?
@@CaptDavesSportfishing yeah man, i got a boat thats flat on the side so it ussualy pounds alot. what deadrise would you reccomend between 24 and 18? like i want a boat thats both stable and doesnt pound that much, what deadrise is like a good mix? ive heard 20 is good.
@@Lexi-fh3wn its a lot more than just that, it's beam of boat, weight distribution, etc. Ever wonder why on a center console boat WHY the console is never really in the center???? It's smashed back to the stern 3rd of the boat. Not in the center LENGTH wise?? Because they want it to be nice riding, that's why. The stern always has the better ride. On my boat (that I had built to my specs) I not only had the console put right in the middle "beam wise", but also "length wise". Because I don't care about the ride. All I care abut is Stability. You can't have it all. All boats are a compromise. You can have a 18 deadrise, but if the console and seating are all on the stern. You'll get a better ride. All I know is a friend had a 21 foot center console with a 24-1/2 degree deadrise. A short boat, and true real deep V. It rode like a knife thru the water. But at anchor or drifting in a sea, would about throw you right out over the side, it kicked back and forth so hard.
@@CaptDavesSportfishing thanks alot for the answer, like i said the boat i have is flat on the sides which should help with stability. atleast from what ive heard. but i still get thrown around alot. the boat is 28ft, the last time i was in the boat everything ended up being everywhere
@@Lexi-fh3wn You said ''''the boat i have is flat on the sides'''. Sides don't effect ride. it's the bottom. 28' with a 9'6'' beam would be nice, but if it's a 8' beam or less and a deep v, not sure if much would help.
How much $$$
