Someone that finally mentioned the difference in technique with alternate picking. Thank the lord.
Honestly, you're the best guitar channel I've ever seen .you're teaching the whole song with tab. I think you should make more videos i just discovered this channel and it's incredible. Thanks for the videos
You're welcome! Thanks a lot!
What's up Tim. Nice one! Palm muting is so important to having control of the guitar and it's super important to creative expression on the instrument.
Thanks 4 this man.struggling for days to master muting the strings.especially the higher ones.the lower are easier.cheers from greece😊
Glad to help man!
Very clear explanation.
Thank you for sharing the video 😉👍️🎶
Have a nice weekend🌸🌸🌸
GREAT CONTENT.COULD YOU DO SYMPTOM OF THE UNIVERSE?👍🏻🤘🏻
great videos, hope to see you keep growing as a channel!
Hey Tim, awesome lesson bro😎 All styles of music use some degree of palm muting. This was a great breakdown. Later Tim.👍
Thanks Rusty!
Excellent lesson, Tim !! ♫
Good lesson. Any idea when you will start doing lessons on the “Black” album?
I'm going to finish the Puppets album first. 4 more to go. Then I'll do Black Album stuff along with the rest of the Justice album.
@@TimHolman Sweet!
Thank you for your lessons Tim!
Good Lesson!
Great, detailed lesson on palm muting Tim! I enjoy watching you play. When things are done right, everything sounds good. You can play the low E and totally rock it. You can tell you are good even when playing one string.
Thanks a lot! Cheers!
Cool lesson! I can’t say I was shocked to see some Metallica riffs in there :)
Thanks! Yeah I seem to know a few of those Metallica riffs.
Excellent intro to p.m! you are a great teacher, thanks so much!
You're welcome!
this video is a godsend as i couldnt figure out how to palm mute alternate pick like with a lot of punk music (Dammit, Blink182) the slant in the thumb makes so much more sense!
Glad I could help you out!
Awesome, thank you!!
You're very welcome!
You should do a lesson on Lux Æterna. Metallica’s new song on 72 seasons
Hey Tim, love your lessons and the way you teach! Any chance you would do a lesson on money for nothing by dire straights?
There is a chance I will do that. Thanks for the suggestion!

Cool channel dude….love your clear precise explanations of things. LOVE the neck on that guitar…..what is it?
Thanks man! It's a blackened birdseye maple.
@@TimHolman Thanks…..see it on their website now…..lovely guitars, had never heard of them before.
@@finmac5548 Sorry, I thought you were asking what the fretboard was made of. Didn't know that you weren't familiar with Kiesel. My guitar is a custom K6 series.
ive never angled my pick to alternate pick and have no problems
if i use a sharp pick i need to angle it,but a more rounded pick would work better with no angle. It also change the palm muting tone, just depends on what you're aiming for.But there shouldn't be any tension
What plug in are you using, btw you are legend
Thanks! I am using the BlackSun amp by Audio Assault.
is there a name for stabbing your pick down to create a harsher sound on acoustic?
If it's a downstroke stab that you're referring to I would just call it an accent. There are different degrees of accented notes/chords and notation even has symbols to indicate an accented versus a heavily accented note.
Promo SM 💋
do you palm mute to cut bends off at the top or do you use your fretting hand?
Great question! I actually use the pick. I guess that's why I never thought to include it in this video. I place the pick on the strings as if I'm about to do a stroke. The palm would also work but I prefer the tightness of the pick and the control it gives me.
Hey thanks! I’ve struggled to find good advice. It’s so hard to get the palm approach working quickly. Maybe that’s just the learning curve I’ll give it a shot
