He’s such a boss, the camera is too afraid to focus on his face
It’s terrified!
I love how he is reading all the comments even after 5 years
Not your comment apparently lmfao
I gues that's how he loves those people who support him. It's rare to find those kinds of youtubers.
Sorry I changed my channel😂
I just found him about 3 months ago and I've been watching videos from all the way back. He's entertaining and I've learned a lot from him. I do know that he loves the People's key of.... G
Finally...a guitar player who speak rhythm like drummer.
I only wish every YT lesson described guitar strumming like this.
Thanks! No kidding, I wish drummer rhythm principles were just kind of universal to every instrument when it comes to counting.
Yea agreed it applies to every insturment...its called standard notation.
When I hear instruction vids count that way...down down....I move on.
And btw I really wanted to be a drummer....my parents said.....noooo
It's way Easier to understand
"Any body can do this 1..2..3..4.." you sir have never seen me try to play guitar.
My mistake :)
Dom Dubz I know what you mean!
I look like a new born learning what his hands are when I try to strum
Dom Dubz fr😂
Sean Daniel all jokes aside this was a good video and a helpful tip.

Your actually a very good teacher when it comes to guitar Thanks Sean. Really get something out of your lessons.
So good to hear! Thanks Mike.
I started playing guitar 30 years ago and put it down after a few years. Your teaching makes sense to me, finally someone who knows how to teach me! Thanks for inspiring me to pick it up again!
I feel like these videos are speaking directly to me
Guy named these videos *
Right
You're my favorite guitar teacher for more simple but creative techniques. You have a fresh way of looking at things from other teachers on UA-cam
Thanks so much Cole! I'll keep it up :)
"Dooowwnn, down-up down-up doooowwwnnn...." clever intro and thoughtful lesson as always.
I had seen this lesson a long time back and applied it, and here I'm watching it again, and everything you've said has become much easier to do! Thank you !
Really good sound advice. Many people including myself get caught up on questioning what is the sequence of UP and DOWNS is when learning to play a song. Taking it one step further and listening to the original recording and trying to determine the pattern sequence using the ONE AND TWO method takes this strategy to a whole new level.
Man! This channel is GOLD for beginners-intermediates who want to push further and sound really neat/awesome. idk somehow i landed here from youtube recommendations, tried this video and some really intuitive stuff right there. When I myself started "improving" my acoustic strumming sound (realising how others sound so awesome), i made a few notes in my mind on what to do occasionally while playing.
1. Try to break 6 strings into parts while strumming i.e not necessary to play all of 'em.
2. Accenting (really great stuff told right there).
3. Skip some of the upstrokes OR down strokes in between the strums. This changes the strumming pattern continuously and playing doesn't sound monotonous/boring.
4. palm MUTING sometimes to sound warm.
5. Hitting the root note (or bass) in upstrokes/downstrokes for filling.
6. Playing some scale notes in between.
7. Legatos (pull off / hammer on)
All these after a decent practice will make your playing sound awesome.
These all were my observations as well (and ofc i never saw this video). Some great stuff in your lessons playlist as well ;)
subbed! :)
Thanks so much! And such kind words from a white walker :)
My strumming improved just by watching this and playing along to it thanks so much man !!!
you're surely a different level teacher, you made thing so simple that I could finally untangled my rhythm skills for several years, tbh, the other lesson on rhythm explaining about the right spot to target while strumming had actually opened my skills on dynamic, it has a huge impact over dynamic which I was struggling too, thanks a million, I hope to see you having over million subs real soon, good luck bruva xx
Some of the best lessons on youtube. I've learned a ridiculous amount from you over quarantine. Thank you!
I really appreciate this way of teaching strumming I remember I had a hard time learning guitar in the beginning and got really anxious about playing in general trying to do all the downs and ups perfectly as it said in whatever website. This is great advice!
Thanks so much! I'll keep the vids coming!
Been playing guitar for 14 years but just recently started teaching guitar, this technique is something I've always done but this video helped me figure out how to teach this concept a little more clearly. Thanks!
Thanks man this is exactly the video I needed. I always wondered about if it's important to exactly do a strumming pattern but I see now that it's more important to have timing and dynamic while being able to strum within the beat. All I see when I search strumming videos are "5 strumming patterns you need to know" or something. This video is the best thanks.
Picked up guitar during the past year - and strumming is way harder than I ever thought it could be. Thanks for taking the time to address strumming technique as methodically as you do. Very helpful video.
Always happy to help!
Wow this is so simple yet you just helped me simplify everything in my head! So glad I stumbled upon this!
" Must have" techniques for both beginner or intermediate player. Excellent lesson - essential information explained succinctly. Thanks for sharing !!
Happy to help!
@@seandaniel23 he was being sarcastic
I'm a new subscriber, but I'm loving your videos right now. Thank you for the great insights and for presenting everything in such an understandable fashion!
Happy to help, let me know if you ever have any questions!
Big help! Very refreshing style of instruction. Thanks, Don
Thanks so much for watching Don!
So glad I found this. My guitar strumming is getting more consistent but sounds blaa. Up Down is easier to do but counting helps more in the long run. I try both ways but I'm concentrating more on counting. The dynamic accents is what I've been looking for. Ultimately it gives feeling to the song. This simple video helps a lot. Thanks
Happy to help Bernie, you're definitely taking the right approach by trying to count, even though it's tougher at first. I'll have a few more videos coming up on this so stay tuned!
I'm really enjoying this lesson. That down-up thing always made me crazy. We all count - much easier. Love that you are flexible too on hitting those exact strings.
Thanks for reaching out! Happy to help!
Thank you for breaking down the idea of strumming. It’s more than just remembering strumming patterns, but more of the rhythm & counting.
Happy to help Victoria!
I can't begin to tell you how much difference this video has made. One of my most significant advances so far. Thanks so much.
+Damian O'Neil So cool to hear Damian! I'll keep em coming!
Hi there! As a beginner I initially thought your teaching was really complicated but actually, when I listen and watch more closely, it really is more meaningful and I intend watching more of your videos; thank you!
So great to hear they're helping!
The best I have seen and heard covering how to improve strumming. Great and thank you.
Thank you for watching :)
As someone who has trouble with the words “left and right/ up and down”, counting as number made all the difference.
Thank you!
Wow. I've learned a lot! I usually play the song over and over again to get the strumming pattern of that song. This helps a lot. 1&2&3&4& is much easier. The dynamics and accent sounds awesome! Thanks!
Keep on rocking!
This is an excellent video. I'm still glad I learned the sluggish down up matntra. It made this technique effective immediately.
Love you man! You fixed my strumming in 9 mins. I've been playing for a year now so I know alot of chords and stuff but my strumming was always what let me down. Thanks a lot man.
Happy to help!
Oh my goodness, this has helped me SO FREAKIN' much! It all makes so much more sense now! Thank you!
+Teri Burnett Happy to help!
I was watching other strumming videos add getting so frustrated. Thanks for breaking it down to a much simpler way. When I started learning guitar I completely skipped this important lesson. Now I feel like I'm starting all over again. This video was a big help. Thanks.
Glad to hear the video was helpful Brian! I'll keep the vids coming!
Excellent video. People are always telling me my strumming sounds dull, and I always wondered why and how to improve. Watching your video helped me identify what I was missing. Thanks, and subscribed!

+Kuokong Luli Thanks for much for watching!
This is so incredibly helpful ❤️
Well done lesson/video. The lesson is informative. I liked the case an point, unlike the few whom are here to play, not teach. I find playing guitar rewarding and complicated. Thank you for taking time to teach at no cost and to be good at it doing it.
Thanks so much! I'll keep em coming!

You remind me of Chris Pratt
You're making me blush :)
any old Pratt really
Neal Patrick Harris lol
Raj Sharma i was actually thinking “damn! Dawsons creek can strum the hell out of that guitar!”
I was thinking Ryan Reynolds
Thanks man!! You just got a new subscriber.👍
Very cool! No problem :)
Really liked it.
Very informative 👍
Thanks for watching!
I like how you breakdown everything. There is so much going on when you see a guitarist playing that the eyes and ears can become confused. Hitting particular strings was a concern for me but when you say it is best to aim for general accuracy at first , it takes the pressure off. I like how your explanations do not assume anything of the knowledge of learner. What may be obvious to someone who has been playing for years is not so for a beginner.
+Sukhbir Sekhon Thanks so much for reaching out! I'll try and keep it up!
Thank you so much for this video it has helped me out so much
