- Thanks to all of you who support me on Patreon. You da real mvps! $1 per month helps!! :) / patrickjmt !! Rational Expressions: Adding and Subtracting. Ex 2. In this video, I do a slightly harder example of finding common denominators of rational expressions and then subtracting them.
When he said "multiply by what's missing" everything made sense.
Something they didnt teach me in class, which was why i was here :)
Jasmine G yeah
ikr

Was that sarcasm or no
In five minutes you taught me more than my teacher did in a whole hour
Same
Yeezus true
Yeezus same
Yeezus I know right this guy is so good
No longer need any help
Im a mathematics teacher and I've been watching your videos since college and somehow adapted some of your styles in teaching mathematics because i found it easier to be understand by the students. Thank you so much!
my teacher explained this for a week and i couldn't understand but you taught me in a few minutes. thanks.
oh gosh..and here i thought i'll fail my math test with this as the topic...but eventually after watching this video i got a 19/20 score.
Maxine Ruedas same score
Cashier: So, you bought the following items:
2÷x^2+5x+4-3%x^2-1
Me: Ok, so I have to pay
-x-14%x^3+4x^2-x?
Thanks factoring! You sure helped in this one!
LOL
i dont understand this question
I'm 45 from Vallejo Ca. and taking an algebra class at Solano college. I just love your humor and instruction. Thank you!
my pleasure, i hope the videos help.
This was way easier to understand. I think my math teacher sucks. Thanks!
Im still asking myself where should I use this lesson when I grow up
+MagickalMonster basic algebra? You wonder when that will be useful?
patrickJMT yep
I thought of that during summer class. lmao
I swear to god, I learn more in 10 minutes from you than I do from my professor in 2 hours.
Keep it up, you are a huge help to alot of us.
Thanks for this I have a test tomorrow and you really helped me here
At the end when he said "to simplify the 2 fractions is to combine them as one fraction", everything made sense.
Didn't pay attention in class bc I knew there was a video for it. #underachiever
that's kind of dum
no offense
+Yummy pie for me its strategic-tic..
I can study other subjects for the coming exam and study the math at home because its much easier and faster..
note: in UAE, Dubai teachers (mostly arab) sucks at teaching unless if its some asian or american teacher u have.
Aishve Torah I live in UAE and I have a Romanian math teacher, SHE'S THE BEST.
SO TRUE😆😆😂
Thanks so much for taking your time and slowing down on this video. My teacher goes so fast and nobody understands her.
Much appreciated :)
easier to understand rather than our instructor. you're the man!
omg...i watched like 20 videos and finally stumbled upon this...you are the only person i actually understood! :o hahaha i have my exam tomorrow...yay...i feel prepared. :D
Thanks. My teacher explains everything in such a complicated way while you just make it so simple
You explain better than my math teacher, the school keeps on changing our math teachers idk why but the some students don't understand. You should replace our math teacher 😖 thanks so much for this, now I know how to do this xD
U have saved my life. I have a midterm 2morrow
my teacher is so awful, this seemed so difficult until you went through it, same with your long division videos! i appreciate you putting these up
U taught me more in 5 min than my teacher did in whole year
I had trouble with my Algebra 2 assignment in my 6th hour math class at high school. This really helped! Thanks, my man! :)
You explained it so much easier than my math teacher! Thank you so much for this!
Wow, I finally understood the concept in your video rather than my professor. Thanks a million! And now I'm going to watch your other videos for my prelims tomorrow!
I know this was uploaded in 2010 and it is 2017 currently.. but this helped so much!! you wrote it the way i think!
math don't change
So glad i found this! I'm in 8th grade and have a test on all this tomorrow but my math teacher just doesnt explain it well... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
this video makes rational expressions so much simple to understand.... thanks for putting up these vedios
Honestly so happy...finally understand how to do these😝 Thanks
You are saving my life now with these vid
thanks man. you are my savior for my exam tommorow brofiiiiiiiiiiissssssstttttttttt
thanks a lot i watched about ten of your videos it really helped me get ready for my math final. Thanks very much Patrick
I don't know you & i love u, thank you sooooooooooo much i was looking at my math homeowork like it was a foreign language when i got it! THANK YOUUU!!!!!!
oh man thank u so much bro khan academy is usually really good but they REALLY confused me on this YUU SAVE MY LIFE
You're the real mvp.
No u da real MVP
Thank you so much!! I've been having trouble here and this helped a lot.
This is SOO helpful! My math teacher sucks!
Yo thanks man I have an algebra test tomorrow and you really helped me out
Dude. You da best. That helped me on a test.
I love the way you explain math. You always make it so easy for me. :)
@shelbyislame no problem, i am always here.
Thank u very much! I understood this topic because of you.😊
Dude i thank you! I got an A on my test because of you!
Aw nice explanations. Let me pay close attention to your vibranrt teaching. I like the way you are factoring your denominator. I was some how find d it difficult to factor the numerator. Your explanation is brave soundly.
Thank you! Finally i could solve this kind of exercises without struggling !
i learned more watching 2 videos here than a whole semester in math class
i don't see where you could factor out a -x though
Thank YOUUUUU UGH THANK YOU I'm actually an A student but today I slept in class because I was so tired THANKSS (:
Yes... So glad we are done with that chapter. SO HARD
Thank you!! Your algebra videos are the best out there. And I heard a cat lel :D
Thank you so much! This helped a lot. Great explaining!
Do you have a cat? I thought I heard one in the background multiple times, but I didn't know if I was just hearing things...
Yes, I have little brad Pitt, the sweetest kitty in the world
patrickJMT :) I love cats
+patrickJMT cats are awesome and thank you so much you are my savior with finals on Friday
Our teacher's gonna teach us this later, but I've decided to watch a video tutorial in advance. And it was really helpful, I think my teacher will teach more complicated lmao. Math sucks. Just like my life😂
THANK LORD. LIFE SAVER. 😭👏👏👏
Tu eres bonita
Thank you so much!!!! I'm finally understanding what I need to do.
You are just awesone
dude thanks to you I am getting good marks in math. I suggest you make the examples more challenging.
@nightreaper999 uhhhhhh there are at least 100 videos on that stuff, if not more. you may look in the calc 1 or 2 playlist on my channel
this helped SO much. thank you!
Thanks Patrick. Great video.
God level teaching
i love the way you teach
Thanks man you solve my problem.and also save my allot of time. Thank you
Thanks brotha much appreciated! Make me feel smart again👍🏼
This video helped so much. Thank you!
Thank you for this video! It helps me with practice for my test tomorrow
good luck!
Thanks!
Thank you!It really helps....thumbs up!!!
yes, must have been my wonderful cat: miss bradly pitt
all terms would need an x if you are going to factor it out
You save my life 😀😀 thanks
thank you so much!!! your videos are really helpfull.
You explained that so well, thank you.
Dude I wish you were my math teacher
But what if their are completely different denominators for both of them then what do u do
Very helpful, thanks!
Thank you so much great explanation!
Thank you for this amazing video. You should take place of my teacher pronto x)
This is saving my life!
@sweetlipsMW2 good luck on the final!
thank you so much!you teach really well!it helped a lot!
this helped alot thanks man
can i ask something 2:05 why do we need to multiply (x-1 ) to the numerator and denominator im really confused with this one please help
1 hour on a problem, 20 minutes to find your video only to remember 1 is a square number and i can factor x^2 -1
thank you so much this is helpfull bc my teacher sucks at teaching math
When I hear all right I remember all of your video I watch
In the first example where you were subtracting, why do you choose to put the + 1 first?
Better than my teacher
this is so helpful thanks a lot
Hi, patrickJMT, Is the partial fraction decomposition the reverse process of this? thanks!!!!
you saved my life
Why is it that you can't cancel out the (x+4) and (x-1) on the top and bottom?
That was easy ! Thank you.
what if the denominators were (x^2-2x+1) and (x-1)? when you factor the first you get (x-1)(x-1) and the second, just like in the video is the difference of squares (x-1)(x+1). Would You have to multiple the the other fraction by (x-1) because there are two in the first?
Problem: (5x/x^2-2x+1)/(2/x^2-1)
savior for my exam tomorrow
In subtracting rational number you have to get the additive inverse of the 2nd term now my question is , is it supposed to be like that , that the additive inverse of 3(x+4) is only -3(x+4) not -3(x-4)?
What camera do you use? Did you use a speaker?
+patrickJMT at the end, couldn't you have cancelled the -x's to make it even more simplified?
no because it was one term, you can only cancel an X if its its own term. for example, (x-5) over (x-3) you cant cancel the x out. lets say x is 10 for example. 10-5 is 5, 10-3 is 7, so the fraction would be 5/7, however if we cancel the x out, it would just be -5 over -3. those are not equal fractions
@@TheHaas123 that was 3 years ago.. pretty sure the dude's graduated by now
Why did you add -2x and -12x? I thought you were gonna subtract it because you also subtracted 2x and -3x
idk maybe cuz its positive and negative therefore you gotta use subtraction
but if its 2 positive or 2 negative u gotta add?
so the denominator would of be correct if you didn't simplify it?
don't you factor out the -x since it's on both sides of the equation at the end to simplify the rest?
no, its part of another term
Teşekkürler 👏👏
