    what if the denominators were (x^2-2x+1) and (x-1)? when you factor the first you get (x-1)(x-1) and the second, just like in the video is the difference of squares (x-1)(x+1). Would You have to multiple the the other fraction by (x-1) because there are two in the first?
    Problem: (5x/x^2-2x+1)/(2/x^2-1)

    In subtracting rational number you have to get the additive inverse of the 2nd term now my question is , is it supposed to be like that , that the additive inverse of 3(x+4) is only -3(x+4) not -3(x-4)?

    +patrickJMT at the end, couldn't you have cancelled the -x's to make it even more simplified?

    • @TheHaas123
      @TheHaas123 6 років тому

      no because it was one term, you can only cancel an X if its its own term. for example, (x-5) over (x-3) you cant cancel the x out. lets say x is 10 for example. 10-5 is 5, 10-3 is 7, so the fraction would be 5/7, however if we cancel the x out, it would just be -5 over -3. those are not equal fractions
