Hello, I'm a proud owner of a Ms2000 since 2000, that has acompanied me in artistic presentations back in the day with a group called Escuadron Mutante. With this synth, you discover misterious presets and stuff to the day. Also, i had to operate several times and learn how to do it. I pawned it several times and almost loose it in the bad days, with a Ms2000, you can make professional music certanly.

This was my holy grail when I was a young teen. Looking to buy one to this day. I understand it to be MicroKorg architecture with dedicated editing capabilities.

The reverse is true. The original Microkorg is based on the MS2000 architecture sans the dedicated interface. The revised Microkorg shares the same sound engine as the Radias. Most people prefer the old Microkorgs for this reason. A little bit dirtier and oodles more character. 👌

@@e-conrecords4665 I own both the old Microkorg, and the MS2000Br.I sill use the Microkorg to control the MS and use the dedicated knobs of the MS. I like the MK on it's own, but it doesn't have the same ease of workflow as having so many values instantly tweakable.

It happens to be a supremely underestimated synth. I think it's misunderstood in regards to it's strengths. It functions extremely well as a drum machine in terms of sound and function. By that I mean when using the mod sequence to modulate pitch and setting the keyboard to appropriately track the filter you can easily set up a drum machine that can do things most drum machines cannot do, atleast very easily. You can easily seq kik, snare and hh closed as well as open. Or in between. Using only 2 seq tracks and one osc set to sine. Sure this machine is sorta weak in some areas, but if one understands the sweet spots and doesn't view it as a do it all machine, it is a great synth.
I would say it would be worth rereleasing if it had a larger keyboard, perhaps more polyphony to atleast 8 notes and more oscillators I would purchase. I'd want a much more comprehensive mod matrix, better overall build quality, 64 step seq at a minimum. Some luxury features would be physical patching allowing it to function with outboard gear ie euromodular etc... I'm sure these features are well withing the range of a synth that would still be affordable to most. I'd pick one up lickety split in that case. Otherwise I would rather chain 2 or more if these machines together.
I would also point out that the dwg patch is money af. I've used probably over a hundred or so synths and I still find myself coming back to this one.

I got the ms2000b for a while now and got it for almost no money when VSTs were “in” and hardware totally “out”…..my favorite together with the Korg Radias and the Nord Modular. The MS2000 is really easy to program “on the fly” and stil sounds great. Will definite stay in my studio……!

I may pick one up again for sentimental value.

Also go look at creative spirals youtube channel for some really great ways to get vintage micro variations in tuning for the voices. I have REV2 16V and I was amazed at what I was missing out on. I believe REV2 is under loved right now but as people start to explore its going to be a sleeper classic .....Cheers!

If I was to get rid of my Korg MS-200r, it would have to be, from my cold dead fingers. Love the sounds you can get from the little beast, even my Roland Jupiter-80 can't make me that happy yet. A couple songs I wrote just today was the Van Halen - Running with the Devil intro, and Kim Wild's song - Kids in America intro. So I hear a lot of 80's sounds of songs you can pull from this or just make up others for your songs, but I always run into sounds of other songs from my past just looking to build a new sound.

Sorry I didn’t read the comments to see if some else said this but, that preset that you asked if we heard before is on Smiley Faces by Gnarls Barkley. It can be heard clearly at the end, but they use it threw out the song! I bought this keyboard when it came out and I miss some of its characteristics.
