Love those 30 min jobs that last all day... my famous last words to mrs before job starts can also be "its only 8 bolts .... 😂 nice work guys, inspector did a great job too ❤
Well done Jon and Pete a great video and great to see inspector back! What a great piece of design those brakes are lol 😂 they certainly haven’t made it an easy job! All the best Daniel
40 years ago when I was young nipper overhauling brakes on Fiat models of the late seventies and early eighties (such as the 127 & 128) they had exactly the same type of brake drum retaining screws, with a locating pin which had to match up to a hole in the wheel. Also reminded me of what the name Fiat stood for back in the day - ' Flippin' Italians Always Trouble' ! 🤣
Almost 40 years since I first did brake shoes & cylinders, and it's only in the last couple of weeks whilst taking apart the rear brakes on my Smart Fortwo that I realised that shoe linings actually become unattached. If you had painted the rear drums a matching pink colour, Mrs. JC would have loved you even more ! And the state of that rear axle - Wow.🙈 Good job Pete - Could you swap roles with Jon for the next easy job though ?👍
All good! Well done! Glad to see you didn’t “Hub Nut It” and put it back together again still rusty without a good clean and a touch of paint. A good professional job! 😊 (I know I give Iain a hard time sometimes, but it’s all tongue in cheek).
Hi again Jon - Juratek are Apec's cheaper option. When Alliance Automotive came to the UK, they bought Apec (as well as others), which meant they also got the Juratek brand too. Alliance Automotive then got bought by the American firm who own Napa - hence their proliferation across the UK - in part also due to Alliance Automotive buying-up lots & lots of independant motor factors all over the country. Ask Dad if he's ever heard of FPS - Ferraris Piston Services. They were also swallowed-up by Alliance Automotive and no longer exist.
I always say the best way to judge the pronunciation of a name is how it’s said in the advert. Therefore it’s “Kah”. As in the Ford ad of the time, “Get into the Ka(h)”… likewise, Primark is Pree-mark, not Pry-mark , as in their 1980’s Christmas ad, (at least over here in the north of Ireland) Preemark has a whole lot of things for Christmas, and also, at least over here, it’s Lee-dil, not Lid-il…!
Replacing brake shoes on any vehicle is a pain in the back side job prefer changing brake pads in disc brakes and believe or not on my courier vehicles l only changed two sets of brake shoes because with the utes l had have aluminium trays and being so light there the rear brakes aren't working that hard but l did go through a lot of brake pads
Thanks for watching folks. Looks like I was wrong with my 30 minute estimate 😂
Happens to us all!
Your dad is just a legend!.
Certainly is

Amazing how some tech has stayed the same 😂
Well done once, again, guys , Pink to make the guys wink ,ah 😉 😄👍

Ooof great design 😮 Yes we’ll blame ford. I Never realised the Ka and the 500 shared a chassis. Well done!
Thanka for watching 😃
Car looks good for the age of it (apart from the colour!).
It's been quite well looked after I believe MrsJC is only the 3rd owner.

I wouldn't say rear shoes was an easy job 😂 - Dad's no good with the camera I'm afraid
Great job! Are you going to put some anti rust on the axle and stuff?
Eventually

We thankfully had a bit more time on the day to make a proper job of it. Sometimes we do 3 or 4 jobs a day and have to be a bit "Hubnut" as you say 😂

nowt too tricky for the legend Jon
We got there 🙂
There should be an Inspector dog bed in the garage
She has asked Santa Paws

A very good point well made! 😊👍
Is Swarfega still a thing for cleaning your hands?
Certainly is 😃
Is that a factory colour or has it been painted?
Factory. They made 500 in 'Barbie Pink' as a special edition in 2010

I'd absolutely prefer to do some brake pads 😂
@JonCoupland So easy
I bet that design flaw is Ford's doing! I hate doing drum brakes!
I can imagine so! 😂
Ford probably, felt that the backplate and slave cylinders would be swapped together.
Did you not say 30mins to do the job?
I did ... How wrong I was eh 😂
@@JonCouplandit happens most days at work for me. Someone says it should only take about X and then it takes X + *a certain amount of Madness*
🙏
It’s a stupid bloody car 😂
That what i found out when we tried to do such an easy job :)
