The heated door mirror was a bargain at £20! I believe the heated & self dimming driver's door mirror on my Merc is well over £300 😲😲 .... just for the glass!!!!
It does require reverse lamp to work. The regs changed for vehicles registered from 1st september 2009. So the 59 plate van just makes it required! unlucky if it fails lol.
Good to hear that the parts for the Smart orange have arrived, great, looking forward to seeing that. And maybe a curious question for your dad, and considering I'm not very good with a multimeter. Once the glow plug was taken out, would it have been possible to send some power to it to see if it gets hot, and to check the temperature ? And should it actually glow red? Of course we all expected the van to pass ! As always, enjoyed your camera work. 😁
Thanks for watching - a glow plug video is coming BUT you are right, we connected up a battery to the plug and proved that it was still working but with less efficiency - it did glow very red and hot!
Your father can't help himself with the royal snail van with looking at the glow plugs on the royal snail and l was driving a pantech small truck for a courier company l worked and the glow plugs stopped working informed my employer because l was allowed to drive the trucks home my employer contacted the road services in N.S.W Australia it's the NRMA and how the chap from the NRMA did was tip a small amount on petrol in the air box and the truck started and l drove to the mechanic to be repaired 😊
This van never fails to make me smile, love it
Hooray. It did it's job 😀 👍
Loved Dads, response to the glow plugs, as a man who does many many glow plugs. I know what he is thinking....
🤣🤣
@JonCoupland a minor correction, some modern diesels use the Glow plugs while driving for emissions!
13:10 They are thackery washers, used to semi-flexibly mount weber and dellorto carburettors on say a Lotus Elan to stop fuel frothing.
Excellent 👍

Blimey!
Dad is on to something with the source of the unidentiefied noise…👍🏻
I reckon so 😁
10:54 The Impian inside the garage
Certainly is :)
The way your dad whipped out the endoscope made me chuckle! Smooooth haha! You have to take the Waja to Rustival3, you just have too 😁
Challenge accepted 😉
Double Coil Spring Washer used on parts that have large expansion joints where the spring part will still grab
AHH thanks
Lovely Jubbly video, your dad is worth every 👍 and more Jon.
Thanks Paul 😁
I owned the car version last year. 1.3 JTD. Wasn’t a bad car.
They are good things

Now we know! Thankfully I know the result 😉
Both vehicles are iconic in their own right, but I'd love to see the Impian at Rustival 3.
I reckon that's whats going to end up happening 😂
Always fancied a van ... never owned one ... 🤔 brilliant guys 👌
It's been a game changer
Thackery washers, my Rover P3 has them on the rear brake actuators to allow them to float and centralise on the back plate.
Ah thats cool! I'll hopefully find someone who wants them
If the Armstrong has mechanical rear brakes it might use them
Always enjoy the videos jon
Thanks for watching
Your dad is a top man 😎. and love the banter between the both of you.
Thanks 👍
I love watching you two great video and content from both of you brilliant thanks😅😅
Our pleasure. Thank you 👍
good old legend
Absolutely 😁
I think they are brack springs if I remember right they were on cars in the 60/70
😁👍
snail van!
The very same
I would do a resistance check on the glowplugs. If any are open circuit they are blown. Ooops, should have watched to the end before commenting!
Ooh ... I reckon we do that in this video towards the end 😁 (if not it's in another we've filmed 😂)

Take 2 to rustival do you know when will they announce rustival 3 date
Could be a good idea. Not yet sadly. Still waiting to hear 😄
Peugeot 406 for Rustival please.
Sadly not going to happen. Dad not confident driving it that far nowadays
That's a shame, would be lovely for him to see some love for his car, almost as much as there is for him.
Where did the snail come from? Did you buy it and put the stickers on or did it come ready snailed
It came as an ex royal mail van and the paint was damaged when they removed the signage ... We made it more fun and covered up the damage 🤣
@@JonCouplandexcellent!
